5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: I love this card. runs pretty cool with stock clocks, thanks to the huge heatsink and fan. It seems to get faster and faster with every driver update. I love the 6 channel surround sound built into the HDMI. I usually hook it up to my 55" LCD, have to use the scaling options in catalyst first, but it looks great, and sounds great, once it set up. Runs all new games, like dead space, crysis warhead, far cry 2, with a minimum of 30 frames, on high-max settings. There's also a cool looking frog on the box.

Cons: Huge heatsink, and i mean really mean huge. i have a pretty small case, and i had to move my PCI serial adapter to the other slot. make sure you have enough room on your motherboard, and case before you buy this card!

Other Thoughts: Not sure how, or why, but im using the windows 7 pre-beta, and after switching from vista to windows 7, i saw 4-8 fps increase in almost all my games. Im not sure if its the card, or windows itself, but i just wanted to put that out there.

Manufacturer Response:

Glad you like the card!

All the benchmarks of Win7 I've seen show it runs faster than Vista.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: great card, runs quiet, has HDMI, 5.9 windows experience index.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: I'm glad the manufacture reads these reviews. What kind of audio, if any, does the card pass thru the HDMI port. I'm looking at connecting the computer to my LCD TV.

Manufacturer Response:

Thanks for noticing we care about what people have to say!

That is AMD's reference on the audio. It supports 5.1 surround sound. You will need to enable the AMD audio drivers from within the Windows audio control panel.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Bargain

Cons: Double wide card, runs HOT , no shroud fills case with hot air , using two in crossfire mode raises my cpu temp over 70 degrees C inless than 30 minutes, made a separator out of cardboard and duct tape to isolate cpu, northbridge, memory, and regulators from video cards! Cpu running at 48C now all day (AMD 6400X2)

Other Thoughts: Need single slot water block to reclaim PCI slots.

Manufacturer Response:

Thanks for going Palit!

5 out of 5 eggsAWSOME!

Pros: Price, Quality, Size & definitely performance!

Cons: None that I have noticed so far. I know a few reviewers remarked about the fan being noisy, but I can't really say the one I received is. Doesn't come with a bridge and that would be a nice plus.

Other Thoughts: I used this in a new system build with a 9950 Phenom, 4GB of memory and new Giga-byte board. I decided not to use my 8800 GTS 320MB card and I think it was an excellent decision. This card cranks! Does just as well as my older 8800 did. Palit did a nice job on this card. I never would have given them a second look if were not for the other excellent posts on newegg. Thanks Palit......I'll be watching and I'll probably be back for my next upgrade!

Manufacturer Response:

That's great to hear. Thanks for going Palit!

5 out of 5 eggsA good card

Pros: My system is pretty modest, so I bought a modest card. I can play all the latest and greatest, like Far Cry 2, at highest settings on 1680x1050 resolution, and no choppiness (4 gigs of RAM does help, though, and is the only non-modest part of my computer).

Cons: The fan has become a little loud recently, after 5 month's of use.

Other Thoughts: It works and works well. Get this unless you're willing to spend over $180 on a card. There is no other option!

Manufacturer Response:

You might check to see if you have some dust building up on the fan. If it gets out of control we'll replace it.

5 out of 5 eggsWell worth it!!!!!

Pros: It will play all of the new games at medium to high settings and gets good FPS. I love the integrated HDMI port because I can run a VGA to my monitor and an HDMI to my big screen.

Cons: Its not a 4870 X2? Really though I have no complaints about this card

Other Thoughts: If you are on a budget then don't even think twice about not getting this card

Manufacturer Response:

This is a great card for the money. Thanks for going Palit!

1 out of 5 eggsI think its broke

Pros: well the thing looked great for the few minutes it seemed to work properly and it seemed fast as well.

Cons: this was part of a new system build. everything worked great right up untill I tried playing BF 2142. Old game but I still use it to judge my system. Anyway it lasted about 2 minutes then it crsahed with all sorts of corruption. Mainly it was drawing vertical blue lines and odd charecters at post all the way up untill windows started. then I got more corruption with massive vpu recovery shutdowns and was drawing blue squares on the background and around the mouse. I swapped power supplies and reseated the card to no avail. Assuming the card has had some sort of failure since this happens during power up. In the morning I am gonna try and contact someone about replacing this card. Hopefully I wont be out my money.

Other Thoughts: This kinda sucks, gonna try and buy a get-by card locally and use it until I find out if someone at the egg or palit is gonna replace this card for me. Thing is this close to Christmas and this was gonna be my gift to myself and now I am outta luck prolly until after the first... this sucks..

Manufacturer Response:

Newegg is great about handling returns so i don't think you will have any problems. If you do I will be happy to take care of you directly, just fill out the form at and we'll get you fixed up.

Don't worry, Palit and Newegg will take care of you.

5 out of 5 eggsFinally

Pros: Finally something that works right. No issues whatsoever (even though only used it for one night as of this review. That is how it is suppose to be though, no hassle, just work and this did it for me.

Obvious Pros for me, HDMI without having to use an adapter, 5.1 audio over HDMI as well (will be useful when I upgrade to newer receiver which is another long discussion). VGA has a scan line that crawls up the screen periodically when watching video (no matter what video card is used), HDMI gets rid of it which is why I chased this option down. I always love digital transmission over analog when talking about video and audio.

Works with Vista 32-bit, SP1, 8.11 drivers/Catalyst Control Panel.

Fan is quieter than my 7800GS (AGP) that I replaced.

Cons: I am using this for a HTPC, and it has a fan and needs power. . . but I tried a Diamond ATI 3650 and an ASUS 4670 and neither one worked with fresh installs and two different hardware setups.

I also tried nVidia 7800GS (had already) and a 9600GT and the DVI to HDMI produced a signal that I couldn't get to fit (overscanned quite a bit and tried the resize option in nVidia control panel to no avail).

Other Thoughts: Never owned Palit before, thought I would give it a try since the normal route wasn't working. Not disappointed.

Motherboard: ASRock 4Core Sata II
TV: Samsung 5087 DLP (maybe part of why overscan was such an issue)
Receiver: Onkyo DS777 (2000 model, so no HDMI inputs)
Several Hard Drives, 4TB worth :)
OS: Vista Home Premium 32-bit and using Vista Media Center as primary movie and TV watching method
Power: Antec Earthwatts: 500Watt (nice and quiet)

Highly recommend if you want HDMI and 5.1, or just built in HDMI instead of adapter based.

Manufacturer Response:

Fantastic! Glad you like the card.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Price for Performance value is outstanding for this card. I replaced my x850 PE with this card and the increase in performance is substantial. My Vista Performance rating went from 4.3 to 5.9. Card idles at 42 Degrees - Runs 56 after 2 hour gaming session so cooling is good with this card - at least in my case which is a fairly large Dell XPS Gen 5. I haven't had a chance to run 3Dmark yet, but I expect the numbers will be very good. This card is also much quieter than the x850 which it replaced. I was replacing a 2 slot vid card so the size was not a factor for me at all, but this card is reasonably sized anyway. I don't think it would have problems fitting in most cases other than maybe Shuttle type PC's.

Cons: Although the cooler works well - I would probably have preferred a cooler which blows the air out the back of the case, but definitely not a deal breaker.

Other Thoughts: Was looking at several 3870's as they were within my budget for this upgrade. This card got good reviews, but the deciding factor for me was the responses posted here from the manufacturer. I have never seen this from any other makers of video cards, and I was impressed that they take the time to respond to their customers.

Manufacturer Response:

Thanks very much for that and thanks for going Palit!

5 out of 5 eggsPushed it

Pros: Alright - played Fallout 3 for hours and hours - 1680 X 1050 runs at high but there is a little lag - set it to medium with some antialising - it's pretty sweet. Obviously doesn't perform like some $1000 SLI but it does what it should for th price

Cons: Doesn't perform like $1000 SLI

Manufacturer Response:

Glad you like the card!
