4 out of 5 eggsPalit GeForce GT 240

Pros: I have no complaint against the card at all - major improvement over my on board graphics.

Cons: Palit diddled me out of my rebate - sent everything just like it said - have a copy of what they received - but they denied payment. I've heard others talk about dealing with them - be my last time.

1 out of 5 eggsBig let down.

Pros: -

Cons: -

Other Thoughts: I would no recommend buying this product unless you are 110% sure it will work in your system as they have a no refund policy on it. As it is, my system does not support this card and now I have am $80 the lesser. In the future I will be avoiding any purchases from this company.

1 out of 5 eggsAbout right for the price

Pros: The product is a good value relative to others with the same GeForce GT 240 core. Very attractive card and seems to be built solid.

Cons: This did not rate as high on benchmark testing (Passmark and others) as other GT 240 cards and this makes me wonder why?

Other Thoughts: Be wary of any rebate offer with Palit - they will deny your claim but not inform you that they are denying the claim. They claim their rebate department is overwhelmed! They do not allow resubmissions as stated on their forms. Figure the price is the price without a rebate - buyers beware.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Anonymous,

Please make sure you read the terms and condition and follow the instruction. We have given over 95% of customer rebates back but there are the 5% that did not have the material which we have to deny.

Please call us at 1-877-934-7932 for further assistant or E-mail us at Palit.Help@gmail.com with subject line “Priority Help” to have a specialist personally help you.

5 out of 5 eggsUnequalled Customer Service

Pros: I got the rebate check for this product and saw that it was incorrect (was for $10, should have been for $25). I called (!) Palit and within 30 seconds (!!) was on the line with a nice young lady who asked for my address. Two days later (!!!) I got a check for the remaining $15. No excuses, no runaround. I can't remember a time when I've had service this excellent.

Cons: I haven't installed it yet, but I am confident that if there are any problems they will make it right.

Other Thoughts: I don't usually write reviews but service this superior deserves to be recognized. If these folks bought an airline, they would own the industry in a month.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat mid range card

Pros: Aside from the positives the gt 240 platform brings:
-hdmi
-blu ray 3d
-low power
-low heat
-shorter card to fit in smaller cases
-96 cores

This palit card in particular is nice because of the dual slot cooler which in my htpc case which has no active ventilation just a large slow moving cpu heatsink/fan the card maxes out at 60 degrees Celsius and idles at 35 which is amazing.

Cons: The 1gb of vram is kind of a waste on this level of card

Other Thoughts: great card but you might be better off with the 512mb card

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Choice

Pros: The card features a nice solid heat-sink that appears to be constructed of aluminum that is also housing a large and quiet fan, even at 100% (cannot hear with AC running). The fan is controllable through software, if so desired, though this turned out to be unnecessary. Under full load the highest temp recorded is 58C. Card is small and around 5.5 inches I believe. Reminded me of the old Riva 128 for a moment (but with a huge heat-sink, fan, DVI and HDMI connectors).

Cons: Heat removed from the card is returned into the case and must be exhausted by the case fans. In a standard Dell mid-tower, with only one 80mm fan as case exhaust and another in the PSU, the card ran so cool this design never made it a problem.

Loading the latest drivers as of June 30th resulted in FOUR Nvidia High Definition Drivers showing up in Vista's device manager. This is, apparently, normal and didn't detract from functionality or performance in any way.

Other Thoughts: Purchased as a gift to be refit into a Dell Inspiron 531 tower with a 300W PSU, 2.1 dual-core AMD X2, and 3GB DDR2 (4 banks). No problems with compatibility as others have noted here and the PSU ran everything just fine with CPU and GPU under full continuous load for 2 days. It can now play games such as Mass Effect (without AA) with little stutter. The CPU is the choke point in this system. This video card really reminds me of the old 8800GS (may be off here) with 96 shaders, but a smaller pipe (128 bit) with much more memory (1024mb DDR5). Performance appeared to be exactly the same as well. Nice and recommended upgrade for older systems with limited space and PSU power.

4 out of 5 eggsdecent vid card for the money

Pros: Performance is as expected out of this mid-range vid card. Nothing spectacular FPS wise. For 60 bucks it will improve system performance by a significant margin for those with integrated on board graphics. Installation is fairly basic. Would use at least a 300+w PS.

Cons: The manual is pretty limited in terms of installation instructions (it provides the limited instructions in like 10 languages), so prior experience is helpful. May require a PS upgrade if you have a pre-configured PC.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card.

Pros: Great little card. Handles everything my dead 9800 did without breaking a sweat. Literally. Runs nice and cool at 40*C, and heats up to 55*C while gaming. And all this without needing power from the PSU.

Cons: None. Just be sure to install the latest nVidia drivers.

Other Thoughts: I'd recommend this card to anyone looking to put a little oomph into an aging single-core machine.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Reverend,

Palit GT240 is a great purchase.

**TIP**Please always update your NVIDIA drivers whenever there's a new update. This can help increase performance in many cases.

Thank you,
