3 out of 5 eggsDeath of a Vid Card

Pros: Card installed well, operated with little fuss. NVIDIA has a great driver utility and makes it easy. Card accumulated little or no dust, good air flow. Dual DVI is very useful, HDMI and D-Sub as well.

Cons: Lifetime is limited. After about a 14 months of use, the HDMI started going out, leaving ghosting and trail, then becoming blurry. Switching this to DVI was good to solve that, except 6 months later, the dvi on the second monitor started failing in the same way, moved it to D-sub, and was able to use for 3 more months. Sadly tonight the card started suffering fatal errors. I updated drivers, and it just got worse and worse until it would not work at all.

Other Thoughts: Understand, this card was used with a high graphics utility as much as 60 hours a week, for 33 months. However, the same utility has been run with a Gigabyte made 8600 GS for twice as long, without failure. Lack of longevity in a product that cost this much, is enough to dock the eggs IMHO.

2 out of 5 eggsGood for a while.

Pros: Plugged it in and it worked. Fan was quiet. Movies and HD youtube videos looked great. All was well.

Cons: I had this card installed for more than a year before I started to put it to the test by playing games with all of the graphics settings at max. My rig started hard crashing complete with a black screen and skipping sound. Once this started happening I went to check the temps on the card to realize that it does not have an onboard temperature sensor -_- needless to say I wasn't happy. Now I can't even browse the web without it rearing it's ugly head so I type this to you while I tie my shoes on the way to grab another card... one with a temperature sensor.

Other Thoughts: This card works great for grandma who just uses Firefox, but gamers beware.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: was cheap and had 0 issues so far. that's why i gave it 2 eggs

Cons: 1) horrible customer service on the phone very rude
2) card is loud and made of cheap material but i guess you get what you paid for
3) ordered this card in december. it's almost june and i'm STILL waiting on my rebate. ripoffs.

Other Thoughts: i'll NEVER purchase anything from palit again no matter how cheap. not because of the product but because of the service i've received from them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cards! Runs cool

Pros: Performance:
Fantastic! When I had only one card, I could max all settings on Starcraft 2, FFXIV, Assasins Creed, Star Wars TFU2, etc... FPS stays well above 30 FPS. I later bought another to SLI just to be ready for tesselation (DX11) as that requires more GPU power.

Cards come stock 700/1400/1800. I bumped them up to 800/1600/2000 and they run flawless with temps never exceeding 65C under full load.

Both cards in SLI and it rocks the pants off the Unigine DX11 benchmark. Final Fantasy XIV, Mafia 2, Asassins Creed, Star Wars TFU2, and other software @ 1920x1080 w/AF16x and AA8x runs flawless. Even using a single card ran the games fine.

Both cards fit in my MSI P67A-G45 motherboard without blocking the SATA ports. This card is the smallest GTX460 out there!!! The MSI motherboard I mentioned is 1 inch smaller than the standard ATX size also.

Cons: Temps:
The only con is the temps without using a fan profile from MSI Afterburner or similar program.

As for the fan problems I am reading about, don't push your fan to 100% and watch for wires that are hanging around your computer case. I haven't had any problems but if the fan blades are as weak as I am reading, I would say just tuck the wires away in your case and make sure nothing can obstruct the fan blades path.

Other Thoughts: Card idles @ 35C-40C. I don't like that. Under full load it hits 70C. I don't like that either. Although other forums says this is normal and is no big deal, I prefer my card to idle < 35C and under full load < 65C. I'm an electrical engineer and understand that those temps are below the rated temps for the card but I would like my cards to last a long time. After modifying my fan profile in MSI Afterburner, the card idles @ 30C +/-3C and stays around 55C +/-5C while gaming at 1920x1080 with max settings on all my games.

My profile is as follows
55% Fan Speed @ 35C
65% Fan Speed @ 55C
75% Fan Speed @ 65C

No need for 100% fan speed to keep cool like other cards!!!

2 GTX 460's in SLI does not perform well on Starcraft 2 atm. The game runs perfect without SLI but it is annoying that I have to disable SLI everytime I play this game. Nvidia and/or Blizzard, please resolve this issue.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent for the price you pay

Pros: Bought it for $190 during Black Friday last year, since it was the cheapest GTX460 out of the bunch.

Overclocks decently, running it at 818/1900 on stock voltage (which is 1.012v, not .987v)

Cons: The fan gets pretty loud after 65%, and the heatsink sucks. No VRM cooling, and it's pretty much a hunk of aluminum.
The review samples they first sent out even had better cooling.

The card runs hotter than the average GTX460. Mine runs at ~70C while gaming, with a 23C ambient temp.

Other Thoughts: They never honored my rebate, which makes me feel ripped off. Better GTX460s could've been had for $190 after rebate back then. It's been almost 6 months, and still no payment. The phone number they said to call is deactivated, too.

2 out of 5 eggsFan is cheap Palit will not honor warranty.

Pros: Ran well before the fan blade broke.

Cons: One of the fan blades broke off when it spun up to around 70%.. Palit seems incompitent to fix it.

3 out of 5 eggsReview #2

Pros: *see below*

Cons: *see below*

Other Thoughts: Strangely I was unable to access and edit my previous review to make changes. I chose to write another review seeing as my experience has changed.

I originally reviewed as a 1/5 due to the constant problems I was having with cards dying after a couple days. Upon getting the manufacturer reply at the bottom of my newegg post, I began their RMA process. After some bugs on the Palit submission page, it finally went through and I dropped the card in the mail. Probably 5 days later I got a box back with a brand new card. I dropped the new card in, and it runs flawlessly.

Low points obviously due to having to try 3 cards to get one that worked correctly. But Palit did get some points back with their tech support, which was helpful. And their turn around time on my RMA blew me away (no status, no updates, no info, just BAM new card).

The end result is the 3rd card works as one would expect it to.

4 out of 5 eggsFinally SLI & stable

Pros: The newer card has a larger silver aluminium finned heatsink. The newer card runs the graphics clock at 800MHz, processor clock at 1.6GHz & memory clock at 2GHz. It runs about 2-4C hotter, but with about 200 RPM less fan speed. BIOS ver 70.04.1B.00.02 SLI works games look and play great.

Cons: Slightly mismatched "identical" cards running different. Manufacturer doesn't mention any updates that I have found. The older cards have smaller black heatsink. The old card runs the graphics clock at 700MHz, processor clock @ 1.4GHz & memory clock at 1.8 GHz. It runs cooler with more fan speed. BIOS ver So even if you plan on buying 1 now and 1 later they still may not match.

Other Thoughts: I purchased one of these back in October of 2010 with a MSI NF980G65 3 way SLI board with the hopes of only using the two outboard SLI ports to allow some air space between the cards. I finally purchased a second card in January of 2011. I had to ditch the MSI SLI bridge because it caused all games to flash constantly. I ordered a EVGA SLI bridge and that fixed the problem. I am using MSI afterburner with a G15 keyboard LCD showing GPU stats during gaming. So far I haven't gotten them over 60C.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy!

Pros: Worked very well....while it worked!

Cons: Started getting artifacting in 3d games about 3 months in.

Other Thoughts: I originally gave this a positive review, however the many negative reviews about this card are correct. Save your time and money and avoid this card. I will never purchase Palit again.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong card - Good value

Pros: System:
Intel Core i5-760
8gb ram @ 1600mhz

Runs great for everything I throw at it. I was thinking about getting 2 of these for SLI, but so far that seems unnecessary. It can run Starcraft 2, Battlefield 2 Bad Company 2, and more at max settings at 1900x1080.

Cons: Fan can be a bit loud. Mine might need a compressed air cleaning though.

Other Thoughts: Great price/performance ratio at the time and price I purchased it.
