4 out of 5 eggsWhat did you pay for?

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GT 730 01G-P3-3736-KR 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card

Pros: This thing is so far and above what I had before and expected. It was only $50 and totally eclipsed my old Sparkle 9500. If you are putting together a $1k rig for Crysis or whatever. Then NO. This isn't your card, DUH. But if like me, you want a decent card for normal average games than hell yes. And at a good deal. I even upgraded my families Acer Aspire to the low profile and low wattage (19w) card after I got mine. Please devote remarks to what you are talking about, not what you want it to be. 4 Stars easy.

Cons: Only issue was Windows 10 drivers and GeForce Experience software. Not the cards fault and worked through.

Other Thoughts: I'm a basic gamer and enjoy videos. I had been running a 9500 and it worked fine. Until a few weeks, maybe months ago Ok I was way overdue for a change. It was time to upgrade. This was a good budget upgrade and totally fits my needs. I expect to run this card for a while. Like I said. I basically bought two.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Fine

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GT 730 01G-P3-3736-KR 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card

Pros: Silent operation, (no noisy fan). Gets it's power directly from the motherboard, no extra cables to attach. Easy installation. Great price.

Cons: Takes up 2 bays in back of computer, but then again nowadays it's hard to find a quality video card that doesn't.

Other Thoughts: Easy to install, had to move a USB card so it would have the 2 bays it needed, but it's wasn't a hassle since I have the room. Followed Win 7 forum' directions titled, "How to avoid problems with Nvidia drivers" before I loaded the new drivers since it was replacing an overclocked GT220 on my Win 7, 64 bit machine. Everything went smoothly. Decided not to update the drivers after installation via Windows Update since it's working fine, ("If it ain't broke don't fix it"...). I don't use my computer to play high graphics demanding games, but I do use Photoshop and it's working great, therefore I'm very happy with my purchase.

1 out of 5 eggsEVGA Updated Offer

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GT 730 01G-P3-3736-KR 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card

Pros: 1-DDR 5 memory
2- 128 bit
3- Last EVGA offer on RMA (see other thoughts)
4- I was able to modify card to accept a 120 mm fan (voiding warranty)

Cons: 1- Runs hot under load (with oem fan)
2- Fan noise reminded of an old Eureka vacum cleaner: LOUD
3- Fan failure within 3 weeks of use
4- Cheap/small GPU heatsink hidden under fan shroud
5- Fan/shroud are **one piece**
6- EVGA has ****no replacement fans
7- Fan failure = RMAing entire card back to EVGA

Other Thoughts: EVGA upgraded its offer to sending UPS to my front door to pick up my card and provide shipping label too. Normally I'd done just that, but it is not worth the RMA delays/hassles all over a defective fan. The card had been modified to accept a 120mm fan. Apparently, like many others I was lured into this purchase by the DDR5 on GT 730 card along with the 128 bit interface for a mere $69.99 (walmurt.com purchase.) I have had enough of all the sugar coated-biased online reviews about pc components, pc component manufacturers and customer services, so this is what I have decided to do:
1- I am currently building my own website dedicated to unbiased reviews of pc parts, manufacturers' customer services (or lack of it) along with ALL major e-retailers' customer services (or lack of it.)
2- I am dusting off my HD camcorder, so when I say a product sucks you'll see why and ditto when I say it is great via video reviews
3- Just like Santa I am making a list and checking it twice on manufacturers who provided great customer service and those who have burned me royally via an archive of saved responses, BBB ratings, complaints, etc
4- Tech videos of DIY upgrades and even pc building
5- For small fee I will be answering any question (s) /resolving issues on Windows and *Linux sent right to your e-mail inbox
6- Be a contest for "worst e-retailer of year" where you get to vote and even post why
7- Ditto for "worst manufacturer experience of the year" where you decide whose worst of the worst based upon your votes and post on why
8- Site links taking you to my soon to be uploaded youtube tech vids

My site should online within 30 business days and my very first review: a hardcore/in depth look at this very card

1 out of 5 eggsFinal Update- EVGA Response

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GT 730 01G-P3-3736-KR 1GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 Video Card

Pros: Hopefully BEFORE any of you purchase this card you'll read this entire review!

Cons: EVGA does **not** have replacement fans for this model (see other thoughts)
So, if you are like me and are a victim of lack of EVGA quality control...your only option is to send the card back to EVGA. Manufacturer did offer a shipping label; however I live over 20 miles from the nearest UPS drop shop. I could drive approx. 40 miles roundtrip, but after calculating my gas expense/wear on vehicle/my time... I am going to just toss it in the trash. I never ever shall buy another EVGA product. In addition, I shall advise ALL my pc service customers to avoid EVGA products.

Other Thoughts: Response I got from EVGA:

Billy H., thank you for contacting the EVGA Customer Service Team. My name is James Lac and I will answer your question today.
Your Answer:
Hello,

I apologize for the issues you are having. Unfortunately EVGA does not have replacement fans to ship out and only carry a 1:1 ratio of cards to fans/heat sinks and the entire card would need to be sent in. Generally speaking you would be responsible for shipping the product back for warranty, since it appears that this product was purchased less than 30 days ago. We can assist you with a prepaid shipping label. I have generated a ticket number for you to submit an RMA request. Please log into your EVGA profile > member home > my products > view details > start new RMA and fill out the form with ticket #1879595. Once you have submitted the RMA request please reply with the RMA ID number so we can request a prepaid shipping label. Please allow 1-2 days for approval. Once approved you will receive an email with further instructions to complete the RMA process. Make sure you keep all accessories, any accessories sent will not be returned. Also please make sure to ship your product in a BOX and not an envelope.
If you have any further questions or concerns you may contact Tech Support 24/7 888-881-3842.

Regards,
EVGA

In over 15 years pc building I expect to run into "new experiences" along the way, and this one of them. SO, if you need a replacement fan for this card you are surely out of luck and the only option is to ship it back to EVGA. I do appreciate the offer of a shipping label; however living approx. 40 miles roundtrip from the closest UPS shop makes it an unacceptable option. On top of this:
1- One to Two days for RMA approval
2- Looking at shipping time it takes for EVGA to receive my card
3- EVGA processing of my RMA return
4- EVGA lag of shipping out a replacement card
5- Finally waiting on shipping carrier to deliver the replacement card
6- Thank you ChrisB (EVGA SUPPORT MANAGER) for ignoring my plight and tossing my problem to James Lac

ALL this hassle/wait; due to the fact EVGA *****refuses**** to just send me a replacement fan/shroud (one piece) I should of bought XFX, GIGABYTE or MSI. These are three brands I normally use because of their great customer service.

Conclusion: Buyer Beware
