Supercharge your gaming experience with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 video card. The GeForce GTX 970 GPU is powered by the next generation NVIDIA Maxwell architecture, delivering unmatched performance at incredibly lower power consumption when compared to the previous generation. 1664 CUDA Cores and a 4GB GDDR5 memory in 256-bit width work side by side for game redefining performance. You can play today's hottest titles at max resolution on today's highest-definition displays, all at ultra settings.

Performance is just part of the story. The Maxwell architecture is engineered with the new VXGI (Voxel Global Illumination) technology to solve some of the most complex lighting and graphics challenges in visual computing. Scenes are significantly more lifelike as light interacts more realistically in the game environment. Super Resolution technology lets you enjoy the detail and brilliance of 4K gaming even on 1080p displays. The G-Sync technology ensures smooth, tear-free images by synchronizing display frame rate to GPU (require displays that support G-Sync). An array of NVIDIA GTX technologies are also built in, like GPU Boost, NVIDIA 3D Vision, NVIDIA Surround, NVIDIA PhysX, and GeForce Experience. These technologies together provide the most immersive and competitive gaming experience possible.

This model comes equipped with EVGA's newly developed ACX 2.0 cooling solution that delivers optimized cooling with improved power efficiency and noise control. The factory overclocked frequency of 1317 MHz Boost Clock (1178 MHz for reference design) enables better performance and smooth gameplay.

  • newegg ACX 2.0 EVGA did a full redesign on the motor, from improved magnets, to changing how the internals are designed to help reduce acoustic noise from the fan. Furthermore EVGA also increased the fan blade count, which creates higher pressure, allowing the heatsink and fan to cool better without needing to increase the motor speed and increase noise levels. This will help reduce the temperatures of the card and keep the fan noise down, increasing the lifespan of the card; all of this frees up additional power for overclocking.
  • newegg Multi-Frame sampled Anti-Aliasing (MFAA) With the launch of Maxwell, Multi-Frame Anti-Aliasing (MFAA) is introduced to the world. This new, Maxwell-exclusive anti-aliasing technique improves edge quality with a minimal performance cost, and helps you enjoy anti-aliased games at ultra high resolutions like 4K.
  • newegg Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) Dynamic Super Resolution renders a game at a higher, more detailed resolution and intelligently shrinks the result back down to the resolution of your monitor, giving you 4K-quality graphics on an HD screen.
  • newegg Voxel Global Illumination (VXGI) Voxel Global Illumination (VXGI) is a stunning advancement, delivering incredibly realistic lighting, shading, and reflections to next-generation games and game engines.
  • newegg NVIDIA G-SYNC NVIDIA G-SYNC is groundbreaking new display technology that delivers the smoothest and fastest gaming experience ever. G-SYNC's revolutionary performance is achieved by synchronizing display refresh rates to the GPU in your GeForce GTX-powered PC, eliminating screen tearing, and minimizing display stutter and input lag. The result: scenes appear instantly, objects look sharper, and gameplay is super smooth, giving you a stunning visual experience and a serious competitive edge.
  • newegg GeForce Experience The easiest way to optimize your games and keep your drivers up to date, the GeForce Experience application automatically notifies you of new driver releases from NVIDIA. Update the driver directly with a single click, without leaving your desktop. Plus, it offers exciting features like GeForce ShadowPlay that lets you capture and share your greatest gaming moments, automatically.

4 out of 5 eggsPretty Solid

Pros: -Performance is great, noticeable gain over my EVGA GTX 760 SC
-Runs ALL of my games with every setting cranked up to the max at 1080p 60+ fps
-Temp never got higher than 68C in valley

Cons: -Coil whine: When I first loaded up a game my heart sank. My GPU was screeching like a frenzied chupacabra. I read around on the EVGA forums and saw that running a demanding benchmark for a few hours could diminish the coil whine. This actually worked pretty well and the noise was at about 25% of what it was before. However, it was still noticeable (barely, pretty much had to be listening for it). I then saw that using V-SYNC could help and, sure enough, with it on the coil whine disappears entirely.

Other Thoughts: It was a little frustrating at first, but I was able to work around the noise issues. Overall I am pretty satisfied with the card. Next time, however, I will probably wait a little longer and read more reviews before choosing a GPU.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The updated firmware drops fan RPM to zero under light usage, EVGA is still sending out free backplates, and it over clocks like a boss.

I am using this to drive three 1080P displays for tomb raider and it still gets over 60fps with no msaa. And on just one display (TV) it never skips a beat.

Cons: I'm reaching for a con here, but EVGA cards have always been black or grey to match any case and I kinda hate the blue on this card.

That's all I got.

Other Thoughts: If I put my ear on the case I can hear coil whine if the fans are idle, but that feels like a non issue to me. I did update the firmware before any use.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: If you don't plan on overclocking then I guess. Its a very attractive black PCB. Theres dust covers on the back ports.

Cons: Seems to be extremely voltage limited compared to even other 970's. Won't go above 1.20 volts and as a result will not clock past 1434mhz even though the card is at 58c. For a 'superclock' enthusiast product I am not impressed at all. Also the cooler is VERY loud past 40% fan and with the voltage limits theres no way i'm spending money on watercooling for this card. Theres very noticeable coil whine and I'm someone who is usually not sensitive to things like that at all. Also whomever decided not to put all the ram chips under the cooler so they could all be cooled should be shot.

Other Thoughts: Maybe I'm spoiled coming from my voltage unlocked MSI 670 but I really wish I'd gone with them or gigabyte for a little more oc headroom with some voltage bumps. Still a performance bump over my 670 but I'm definitely jumping to a voltage unlocked big maxwell next year.

5 out of 5 eggsIncredible Video Cards!

Pros: - Very quiet
-Runs very cool
-Graphics are incredible
-No coil whine
-No noises at all
-They work with MSI afterburner
-lower power requirements
(850 Watt PSU handles SLI fine)

Cons: NONE!

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 of these to replace my EVGA SC GTX 560TI cards. I immediately noticed that they run 15c Cooler than the 560s when idling.

They are quiet. My 560s sounded like lawn mowers playing some games but these are just quiet and stay cool.

SLI was a breeze to setup on an ASUS P9X79 Deluxe and Power requirements are lower than my 560TIs.

Any game I have thrown at them so far has been no sweat and the fans rarely need to rev up. These cards are incredible because they can give such high performance and yet stay very cool.

Make sure to get the latest drivers for them to activate and work. Previous drivers as far back as August/2014 will not activate them.

To sum it up these are the best purchase I have made all year! They run cooler, require less power and are quieter than previous Nvidia cards. Good job EVGA!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card! EVGA does it again

Pros: Pros: - Fans themselves are quiet
- card stays relatively cool, even during benchmarks and demanding games
- small physical size (compared to other brands)
- performance is top notch (huge upgrade over my r9 280x croddfire)
- no out of memory errors as reported by another user
- No coil whine for me (as reported for others, tested against BF4, Bio Shock infinit, TESO, and FC3) all on ultra

Cons: Cons - None at this time

I do believe at one point there could have been a batch from Evga that had some issues (Coin Whine), however the card i have has been very quite and very efficient on power for the performance

Other Thoughts: For the price and the performance i truly feel that the EVGA line of GTX 970 and GTX 980 will give you the best bang for your buck. I have a few friends that have purchased 970/980's from other manufacturers and they even agree that the EGVA 970/980 is honestly the Top Dog for the 900 series.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for your buck

Pros: This card is amazing I can't say much more since you already know that. Anything I throw at it, it just destroys at 1080p and even at 1440p runs really cool and overclocks like a beast getting around 1491 mhz on my coreclock.

Cons: None whatsoever this card is even power efficient and out performs the 780 and even in some cases the r9 290x

Other Thoughts: If you're looking for a gpu right now to game on 1080p get this card if you plan to go up to 4k though get a 980 or if you only plan to game on 1440p plus I'd still get a 980 instead but this card is the best value for your dollar right now.

4 out of 5 eggsThe hype is real.

Pros: - Runs like a dream, given the new Maxwell architecture you can easily OC this card well above EVGA's SC.

- Free backplate promo is valid for all purchases before November.

- EVGA has addressed the coil whine issue as well as the heat sink not sitting properly on the CPU die (purchased about a month ago; September 2014)

- Runs at around 25 - 35 C idle and around 60 - 72 C under load, give or take 5 degrees depending of course on how graphically intensive your game or software is.

- 145-148W TPD

- The new DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) feature is a great addition and I've maxed up to four times my standard 1920 x 1080 display. It really does bring out the crisp textures and sharpens tessellation where it's supported.

Cons: - The coil whine was addressed, yes I said that, that does NOT mean that it's NOT there. It IS there. Though it's not as loud as it was initially reported to be. If you've got standard ball bearing fans running and not really worried about silencing your rig, the whine blends in with the fans.

- The fans do idle, but while changing some graphical settings the fans will remain idle, or the card just won't "kick back in" resulting in a choppy 10 FPS. Maybe it's the game, maybe it's the card, but if the next driver update doesn't address this issue, I will RMA this card.

Other Thoughts: This card is always selling out and with GOOD reason. A low power draw, ice cool temps and the power to do so much with so little, the card to replace the pedestal on which the GTX 670s sat are finally here. I used to be a big tweaker of game engine code just because I found some features useless or just flat out overbearing, but with this 970... my rig handles just about everything on full detail. I never did enable "max" graphics because I never found it necessary, now I run it all the time just because I can.

Buy this card if you can or when you can! Newegg has been restocking at least twice a day from my experience when first attempting to purchase this card and each time they've sold out within two hours. It doesn't even have to be THIS specific card, just get your hands on one, ANY ONE, hell GET TWO if you can afford it. I'm looking to buy my second soon.

5 out of 5 eggs10/10 Would Graphics again

Pros: - Fairly small (only about 9.5in long)

- ACX 2.0 is quiet. I have no coil whine, and fans are quiet once I toned down the aggressive default fan curve

- Destroys every game I can think of at 1080 and 1440p. Benchmarks show it keeps playable frames at decent settings at 4k as well. Far Cry 3, BF4, Shadow of Mordor with HD Texture pack, Bioshock Infinite, all of them like butter. Couldn't get it under 80-100 FPS on any game no matter what I tried.

- Tops out at about 65C under max load with some slight overclocks.

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: - I came from an eVGA GTX 760 and the difference is noticeable. I can;t imagine a better value for under $400 in the GPU market right now.

- I was worried about coil whine and loud fans as some people have mentioned, but I have neither problem, even when the fans spin up to >50% at higher loads. This is with my tower 3 feet from my face on my desk. If your tower is under the desk, the noise will be even less intrusive.

-eVGA is offering free backplates until beginning of November on their website when you register your card.

- You can't go wrong with any of the GTX 970s out there, but this one has some good overclock potential and for me, eVGA warranty and Customer Service is second to none.

- Make sure you get ACX 2.0 cooler, not 1.0

5 out of 5 eggsgreat card; minimal coil wine

Pros: very vast; runs just about every game you can get maxed out, quiet and cool

Cons: some may hear coil whine.

This depends heavily on your case and the quality of your headphones (if you use them) the position of your case so on and so forth.

If you use a test bench type case you will hear coil whine in a major way.
