5 out of 5 eggsBest Graphics Card I've Purchased to Date!

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: - Small and efficient design
- Great cooling to keep temps down. Highest I've seen is 75C after playing for multiple hours at a time.
- No crashes yet at all
- Easily overclock-able after the factory overclock and the temps still stay low.
- Stock clock out of the box is amazing.

Cons: - A little pricey but all Nvidia cards are.

Other Thoughts: - Would recommend after a while since the new 1070 and 1080 cards just released. The price will drop so worth waiting to see how much before buying now.

5 out of 5 eggsLet's talk about this RAM issue

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: Value
Looks simple, looks nice
Super clocked speed is plenty
Quiet. Also you can adjust the fan activation temperatures and more (cool feature EVGA!!!)

Cons: Not a fan of 2 DVI ports but that is VERY common these days
The 3.5 GB RAM issue

Other Thoughts: Ok folks. If you have not already done this, go research some YouTube videos and/or internet articles about this 3.5 GB RAM issue.
The digest goes like this
-Yes, the GFX card really only uses 3.5GB RAM if you get it to peak
-If you are 4k gaming on HIGH settings, this MAY become a relevant performance problem. There are not a ton of titles out that will push this EVGA

IF YOU ARE NOT PLAYING MANY GAMES ON 4K THIS CARD IS WORTH YOU MONEY
This is written after the 1080 released. Almost any series of these EVGA 970s are WORTH THE money.
This card handles ANY AND ALL LOADS I in 1080p. Don't kid yourself, 1080p is still very pretty
This card handles everything I have wanted it to in 1440K res as well.

BUY THIS CARD UNLESS YOU ARE 4K GAMING ALL OF THE FLIPPING TIME

Cons: A little loud even though it says silent

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this card for the price though. You can't beat it for this price!

4 out of 5 eggsTerrific Card until it stopped working

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: From Dec 2015, it ran everything i threw at it on ultra settings at 70+ frames with ease and low temps, the coil whine wasn't even that bad imo. Just chewed up and spit out the Division when it came out. I was quite pleased with its performance opposed to the R9 290x i was using prior. That's until a week a go when it started Artifacting and BSODing out of nowehere, no matter what drivers it was running. Just a defect I guess, but i was still pretty disappointed.

Cons: -Little bit of a whine, but not that bad
-bulky card, fit in my case, but just barely
-Some have a defect that causes issues with artifacting/crashing just after the first 6 months, has happened to other from my understanding as well. No trigger for this that i'm aware of.

Other Thoughts: Despite the defect, I'm in the RMA process with EVGA right now, and they have been very accomidating thus far, approved my RMA request right away, and will be sending me out a new card as soon as I get this one to them, which i'll be shipping out this week. For the time being I'm back to using my previous card (XFX R9 290X) which is fine, since it still holds up in modern games, but I do feel the lack of power I had with the 970. Minor setup, but as long as EVGA resolves this as they have with others, I can still confidently recommend this card. I will update this once I get my new card in. Hopefully it won't be too long from now.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: Quiet, great video quality.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Upgraded my R9 to this beast. I play BF4, Ark Survival, Far cry, Fallout 4 etc. all on high or max settings no problem. Where I really saw the increase however was in my 3D CAD software. When operating design software with my R9 there was a bit of video lag and latency. After the upgrade there was a noticeable difference in how smoothly the software would operate. Good card for gaming and other GPU taxing programs. Price isn't too bad either. If it fits your budget I'd recommend the investment.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat GPU!

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: I picked this up as the second in a pair, for SLI.... so now I'm running two of these. Easy setup, very powerful graphics, great audio, and SLI setup was also quite easy. Precision-X software also works quite well and is easy to figure out. Virtually silent when idle.

Cons: The fans can get a bit loud when gaming or running benchmarks, but I suppose that is to be expected.

Other Thoughts: I went with a pair of these because my case only has 10 inches between drive bay and rear, and the 980s are an inch longer than the 970s. The 9.5 inch depth of the 970 allowed it to fit my case nicely.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine... after plugging in the fan.

This review is from: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 04G-P4-2974-KR 4GB SC GAMING w/ACX 2.0, Silent Cooling Graphics Card

Pros: -Matches my color scheme (blue)
-Fans are quiet even at full load and it's nice that they turn off when not needed
-Temperature range is acceptable
-PrecisionX allows you to set a custom fan curve to achieve even lower temperatures if desired

Cons: After installing the card, I ran the Heaven benchmark to test performance, stability, etc. and I noticed temperatures reaching higher than 80C. Shortly after, the screen went blank and I had to restart my computer. I re-ran the benchmark so I could check the fans and I noticed that one of them wasn't spinning. I thought maybe that was a feature, that maybe both fans spin independently, so I downloaded PrecisionX to set the fans to full speed. It still wasn't spinning, so I took the card out to examine it. I noticed that the fans plug into a connector on the card. I then followed the cord to the non-working fan and after looking through a tiny crack between the plastic cover and the heat sink, I saw that the cord is actually an extension that the fan is supposed to be plugged into, but it was unplugged. Thankfully, both plugs were lined up with each other, so using a small pair of tweezers and a lot of patience, I somehow managed to plug them together. After that, it worked fine, but because of that issue and how difficult it was for me to fix, I can't give it a full five eggs.

Other Thoughts: Besides the disconnected fan, it works just as expected. It is possible to overclock with PrecisionX but any overclock I tried caused 3DMark to crash. I didn't try increasing the voltage because the card is already overclocked from the factory, so I didn't want to push it too hard. Overall, great product, but EVGA should probably tighten up on their inspection before products are released. I know some people won't have the patience or ability to connect a fan that shouldn't have been disconnected in the first place.
