Great Value Card
- Pros: Good design. Great for Entry-Level SLI builds. Runs fairly cool, even with a dual card setup. All cards work, no RMA needed.
- Cons: Bulky and long. Will cover extra PCI slots, if you need/use them. One of the 4 I purchased had a warped board, making it seem 'bent' after I got it installed. Fortunately it was warped down and away from my SB so it allows for more airflow over it. Had I installed this one into the top slot I would have had to swap though ;).
- Other Thoughts: Purchased 4 of these total (after testing a solo) for use in 2 SLI dual card builds for our home use. They provide a powerful graphics experience for a decent/fair price. I get MUCH better performance from my mobo that allows for 8x8 versus the card that is 16x1. If you are thinking of SLI builds be certain to get a board that allows for 8x8.
9800 zotac nvidia card
- Pros: good specifications
- Cons: Driver fails with Vista 64 - all versions - I have never had a problem with an nvidia driver until i purchased this card.
- Other Thoughts: First was DOA, then latest driver - would hang machine , faile duel display etc - tons of bad reviews on it from net - Skip thi s card for sure.
All's well that ends well
- Pros: 1 GB, overclocked, free game, good price.
- Cons: Couldn't get it to work on my wife's Dell Dimension 510. The computers only 3 years old, but this card, as well as another BFG 9800 GT would not run properly. I tried installing, I had the Geek Squad try installing, and even an independant computer service tech. The screen would default to 640X480. She's now back to the 8600 GTS. And no, the power supply wasn't the problem (530W and 37A).
- Other Thoughts: I gave this 5 eggs because I now have an excuse to get a new gaming rig (liquid-cooled i7, Black Edition GTX 285, 24" Samsung)! It should arrive tomorrow. I've got to cut and paste this in the pros section.
