4 out of 5 eggsGood card, disappointing lifespan

Pros: Fast for its time
Runs most modern (2011) games at medium or better
generally reliable (see cons)
Good manufacturer warranty

Cons: Hot! The little fan is very loud (louder than my intel HS/fan) when gaming
Died before a year of use had passed, i bought it from newegg December 19 2010 to replace a dying 9800GT. It worked well for almost a year, and during the first week of this month (12/11) it started causing bluescreens. I'm fairly sure the VRAM is faulty because torture testing it and getting temps as high as 86C did nothing to it. Thankfully mine has a 3 year warranty.

Other Thoughts: If you find one used be a little wary, but know that if it works it's a solid card.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I own 3 of these. Right now they are all in linux systems and running BOINC 24/7. They are the only GeForce quality cards that can fit into a dual opteron K8N-DRE's PCIe slot and I bought them because of their 2/3 size for that purpose. I had a pair in a windows 7 system but moved them to two linux systems after a month.

Cons: In a case with several exhaust fans, it is possible for the air to be pulled into the case through the card(s) instead of expelled through them. When this happens the temperature in the case gets too high. In a cheap with no side fan you will need to cut a hold and mount an 8" or 10" fan.

Other Thoughts: As far as I know this is the only card that is 2/3 size and capable of running under CUDA compute capability 1.1 or higher. They outlasted a GTX280 that I bought about the same time.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card

Pros: 256-bit memory interface. Cool running. nVidia chip. GPU cooler is barely audible. Installed with no problems whatsoever.

Cons: no cons.

Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 7200gs. Am very happy.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card for the price.

Pros: It's cheap, fast, and stable. Fast enough to run any game I have in my collection (just got done playing Assassin's Creed @ 1920x1080 resolution with practically no stutter, max settings). Among the things I like about products using nVidia chipsets are their stable drivers; AMD seldom ever matches nVidia in driver quality.

The card is also quite short, and it seems the bulk of the length was spread out in the card's width instead. However, there is a price to be paid for that. See cons below.

Cons: This card runs HOT. It idles at about 45"C at startup, and under load can hit 70"C and higher without issue. I understand this is a graphics card, but at stock settings I don't see why a graphics card should ever go over 60"C at the most.

Other Thoughts: If you purchase this card, it may be best to avoid benchmarks and gaming for extended periods of time unless you change the cooler, or have a case with very good airflow.

If you do plan to push the card, you may consider replacing the cooler. However, the cost-effectiveness of this may vary, depending on the cooler you get; the cost of a higher grade cooler with this card may equate to the cost of a better card altogether.

In fact, I might replace the cooler it comes with since I am really unsure about its ability to keep the card cool. I don't really want it to fry in a few months.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Runs Oblivion 1280x1024 8x AA, Bloom, Highest Settings with 50 fps outdoors.
Medieval 2 Total War can have 12,000 people on screen and still be playable.
Company of Heroes with full settings runs smoothly.
Civ 4, full settings, runs smoothly, even with lots of units and cities on screen.
Probably four times more powerful than a GeForce 7800 (two generations under it).
Best part? 20 minutes to install and get the drivers running. Just make sure to use the new drivers from Nvidia's website. If you don't, just run a forced reinstall with the new drivers (the driver install gives you the option). Definitely better than dealing with ATI Driver hell.
Ended crashing from the ati2dvg.dll error with the integrated HD Radeon 4250. Never buying ATI until that error is dealt with.
Battlefield 2, full settings, 1280x1024, 8x aa, full af: 75fps under heavy combat situations (even though it's a six year old game, it was pretty brutal on the hardware at that time).

Cons: Runs a bit hot. (75C under heavy load in a case with three case fans, a power supply fan, and a processor fan moving air)
Eats quite a bit of power (you'll need a good PSU)
Two slots.
Benchmarks on other sites suggest that even on 1280x1024, this will not run Crysis on full high end settings (unless you like stutter hell).

Other Thoughts: Absolutely fantastic. Perfect for the price (well, when it was $99+$1 shipping).
You might want to consider upgrading to the GeForce 450 series, as it is only $20 more expensive and is Direct X11; plus a bit better in performance.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect for me

Pros: works great for BF2BC2, crysis, and every other game I've run at 1680x1050. All on highest graphic settings. BF2BC2 averages over 70 fps. AA and AF at x1, all other settings are at highest. DOD, L4D2, Burnout Paradise, all work at 100+ fps. Perfect for me. It's quiet. When things get hot during gaming I will hear fan noise, but I'm not sure if it's the cpu, gpu, or system fan. Still, it's not as loud as my old system at idle!
My rig:
gigabyte 880 mobo
4gb gskill 1600 ddr3
amd 740 with unlocked 4th core @ 3.2Ghz
old 500gb hd sata2
this card
Thermaltake V3 with 3 120mm fans(very quiet)

Cons: none that I've noticed.

Other Thoughts: only 512MB, but I don't see where one 1GB of memory would be helpful. Increasing my system memory from 4gb to 8gb would be more beneficial, but I need to get off XP and into windows 7 to do that. It can wait a while. I'm happy for now.

5 out of 5 eggsZotac: It's Time to Play

Pros: Excellent Card. I am very happy that I bought this, and was worth the money. Actually bought it for $90.00 as a special around christmas. Always playing Need For Speed, and Bad Company 2 with this, and the graphics are very good.

Cons: When I first bought this card, I will a little too excited. I had a hard time installing this card because I forgot about the 8-pin connectors. :P

No Cons though.

Other Thoughts: Shipping was fast. Three days.

5 out of 5 eggsZotac GTS 250

Pros: Works well, fits easily into midsize case. No problems installing with Win7/64. Drivers installs easily

Cons: Color, Fan whines while gaming, nothing out of the ordinary though.

Other Thoughts: bought because had issues with my ATI 4850 on Win7/64. Been a long time fan of ATI but had issues with their driver updates and catalyst driver issues.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I have used Zotac gts 250 for 3 mo. now no problems. Runs smooth like top.

Cons: Overclocking utility firestorm display is distorted. Haven't found a answer yet. Fan is a bit load under load but not to bad.

Other Thoughts: I got this card mainly so that I could run battlefield bc 2 with out blinking, no more lagging, yeah.
