4 out of 5 eggsNice card. Terrible rebate.

Pros: The card works great for what it is - a low end graphics adapter.
The heatsink is massive, so it might last longer than my last passively-cooled Zotac card, which ,after about a year and a half, blew 7 capacitors.

Cons: The heatsink is so big that it will keep you from using the slot that's next to it on the motherboard.

The Rebate took nearly 5 MONTHS to get to me (4 months, 3 weeks). People who count on the rebates to come back in a timely manner should be aware of this.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is #1.
No question about it.

1 out of 5 eggscheap card no rebate

Pros: it works

Cons: Card works for what it is - take a look at the performance charts on nvidia site. Buy something else. Don't count on getting your rebate check. I, like many others wound up paying full price for this - unless they get around to sending the check next year.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

Please email lee@zotacusa.com your full name, email submitted during the time of the rebate submission, and the serial number of the product you were applying for. I will gladly check up on the status for you.

Thanks.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Video Card

Pros: Fanless (quiet).
Inexpensive.
Windows 7 compatible.

Cons: Only one DVI/VGA adapter.

Other Thoughts: I installed this into a Windows 7 PC and booted.
W7 loaded drivers and set up the dual monitor for me.
Plug and play!
Running two 20" monitors for a business computer.
I couldn't tell you how it works for games but for enlarging the desktop for multi tasking, it's great.
No problems at all.

4 out of 5 eggsRandom freezing, but their phone service is awesome!

Pros: This is an update to my other review. Haven't found how to edit my original...

Fanless, silent and it's pretty to look at. If I ever get a working one, I'm sure it will be nice. No separate PCI-E power jack is nice...keeps things clean inside the case.

Their phone support is pretty awesome. No hold time and an natively English-speaking rep... read below.

Cons: Random freezing when I installed this video card. Anywhere from a couple hours to several hours and the computer would lock up. Several times per day.

Isolated it to the video card after swapping out hard drives (still freezing), fresh installs of XP (still freezing) and, finally, the video card (no more freezing).

Other Thoughts: Online RMA was declined which immediately threw me into a rage. Called their 800 number and was immediately speaking with an American rep. Friendly and helpful, he said it was declined because the purchase was within the 30 day window. Suggested I send it back to Newegg. I stated I couldn't because I submitted the rebate and didn't have the UPC or box anymore.

He put me into contact with the lead tech, again no hold, American and friendly. Asked me to swap video cards.

Hung up and did so. No freezing for 48 solid hours.

Have just called back three days later. No waiting, American speaking guy and friendly. Actually cut me off halfway through my explanation with, "Yeah, I remember you" (in a friendly tone) - how awesome was that?!

States he is re-submitting RMA now... Will update when new card arrives.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Buy

Pros: One of the rare 0dB solutions in a higher-end (at the time) video card. Needed it for a silent PC I'm constantly working on.

Cons: Has gotten too hot to touch (on the fins even!) just idling around and browsing the web. Had a sound card in the bay next to it. Upon removing that, things seem much cooler, but still. I would have rather had a GIANT heatsink than this one.

I was experiencing random freeze-ups requiring a full power down by pressing the power button on the computer itself.

I cannot yet isolate it to the video card because at the same time I installed this card I was messing around with SATA/eSATA adapters beyond the recommended maximum cable length spec...but I do think it's the card. I've been testing on a clean XP format/install, but I'll try again. If I can isolate it to the card or if it's not the card, I'll edit this review.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card - Fast MIR!

Pros: It's passive so there's no noisy fan. Great for a HTPC. Don't even bother with the included driver disk, just download the latest drivers from the nvidia website.

Cons: As others have said it's kind of bulky, but that's the price you pay for fanless. It's not the fastest out there, but for $40 I can't complain.

Other Thoughts: Picked this card up for $40 after MIR. I was really shocked at how FAST their MIR turnaround is. I mailed in the rebate on 3/27 and got the rebate check on 4/6!!! That is a little over a week! Compared to other companies, I'm STILL waiting on some MIR's from CHRISTMAS!

5 out of 5 eggsBig improvement . . .

Pros: Great price, very quick, easy to install, quiet, runs fairly cool, absolutely no problems.

Cons: Very large (it's a monster) takes up two slots. When I went to install the disc that came with the product, I got a message saying that the driver was outdated; my old driver was newer than the one that came with the product.

Other Thoughts: No need to use the istilation disc. Simply run WinZip, it finds the latest drivers on-line and install it.

1 out of 5 eggsFaulty instructions, has malware, hard to install, runs hot, doesn't work

Pros: Card is quiet.

Cons: Instructions say insert CD and run Launch.exe. There is no Launch.exe, only ZToolBar.exe. I found this same complaint on a review of the Zotac GT240 from 2009.

ZToolBar.exe installs into your browser, tracks your actions. You must buy anti-malware to remove it.

You must search the CD for the executables to install the graphics driver, audio driver, and PhysX. If you run them in the wrong order, everything will go wrong. If there even is a right order.

PhysX driver installs itself but not the installer log required to update it, so you can never uninstall or update it.

Once installed, I ran the programs that I bought the card in order to run. Results:

Bastion: Blue screen of death on startup.
BioShock 2: Crash on startup.
Fallout 3: Ran once; crashed on exit; will not run again. Popup says graphics engine initialization error.

Also, opening a YouTube web page now causes BSOD.

Card runs VERY hot, tops 100C running Furmark.

Other Thoughts: I have Windows XP SP 3 on an ASRock AMD motherboard, 12G RAM, circa 2008. (Yes, I know XP only uses 4G.) All Windows updates installed except Windows Search 4.0.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Anonymous,

I think you might have a defective card. Running at 100C is not even close the rated spec, especially being that it is a lower end product.

I am unsure about the ZToolbar- it is just an extra software that is bundled with our CD and not necessary for use. Only the drivers (or latest drivers from Nvidia) should be required.

Please RMA your product through Newegg as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Juliette

2 out of 5 eggsShock And Awe

Pros: Durable

Cons: Performance,Packing And Heat Issues

Other Thoughts: Product came stuck on the inside of the static free bag, also white powdery and sticky residue was found on the videos circuit board. this was very displeasing to me that such a name (ZOTAC) video card came so mishandled.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: I bought this for a powerful (i7/etc) game development machine. It's silent, well-built, and compact. When just using the desktop, with two big monitors, it's merely warm to the touch, even without case airflow. It's plenty fast for normal gaming. This is my favorite graphics card in a decade. I just bought a second one for more monitors.

Cons: None.
