5 out of 5 eggsGreat adapter for a second monitor

Pros: Good performance and price for second monitor. Configures very easily.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Does not include Windows 8 drivers. Win 8 users will need to download drivers from the manufacturer's website.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome product! OSX drivers not included however.

Pros: - No external power needed
- It's small with minimal cords
- Comes with two additional adapter heads
- Shipped/arrived very fast (standard shipping)

Cons: - Does NOT work on a MAC without drivers that were not included. Windows drivers are provided on a CD.

Other Thoughts: Excellent product overall. I plan to buy at least one more.

Use the following keyword search for the drivers:
"DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Mac OS X"

5 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

Pros: I also have the BVUMD3, and this one seems to be a bit more responsive. No problems at all. Using this with an early 2011 Macbook Pro i7.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat device!

Pros: -Comes with HDMI converter also (not pictured).
-Works with any computer I've thrown at it (even macbook air)

Cons: -Price I guess? I think there's cheaper, but I've seen people go cheaper on a USB-to-video solution before and have nothing but problems.

Other Thoughts: This might be the first review I've ever left on NewEgg, but always look to them for input before buying anything around here... so take that as a sign as to how much I love this thing. I was looking for a way to add another monitor to my laptop, and this thing worked perfectly. Windows 7 finds the correct drivers, and installs them without issue. Since it's USB, I've also used it to power additional monitors for my desktop, and macbook air, in a pinch. The install for OS/X isn't as straightforward, but the Mac drivers can easily be found in the DisplayLink website.

Anyway, it comes with DVI built in, and adapters for Analog VGA as well as HDMI... all work perfectly. The HDMI was a pleasant surprise since it isn't pictured.

Handles decent resolutions for my 22" monitors... but haven't tested it on anything bigger. Love this thing... if you're looking for usb-to-vga... get it now!

4 out of 5 eggsNice but not great

Pros: Great on any machine
does a good job on converting computers which don't have digital output to HDMI.
But. i use a Mac OS X 10.7.2 8GB RAM
had to download a beta software from displaylink forums.

Cons: You cannot play videos well or 3D content.
the frame rates are lower

2 out of 5 eggsLimited Use Capability

Pros: Inexpensive method to add a 3rd or more displays to your laptop.
Might be good for a static display.

If your image is not going to change this product may be sufficient.

Cons: Very limited in its performance.
Refresh seems to cycle by the minute if at all
Is unhappy half the time when returning from a power down and flips the screen upside down.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks... Price is good

Pros: I own a MacBook Pro and it definitely powers my third monitor without much issue (see cons); not requiring drivers for OS X Lion was nice.

Cons: Out of the box it will likely not work with your mid-2010 or newer MacBook Pro with graphics switching. The USB cable the comes with it is very short and fairly useless but it uses a standard mini-USB cable and you can put a better one in your stock in its place. With the Graphic Switching issue, I needed to download and install gfxCardStatus and switch to discrete graphics just to have it register on the computer. It would power up otherwise, but no video or system recognition.

Pushing 1080p to my 40" HDTV was a little bit of a stuggle but I don't plan to use it for gaming; it's just to keep my 24" DVI monitor at the office on my desk, with the MBP and a new 27" Cinema Display.

Other Thoughts: NewEgg isn't offering the $15 MIR on the device, you might find it cheaper elsewhere depending on when you buy it, but I think this is definitely worth the cost to add a third monitor to a non-thunderbolt-enabled Mac. I will test it in Windows 7 next week and report back with an update.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: -Gets the job done and easy setup

Cons: -Lags some with video, but works with typical everyday use

Other Thoughts: Good product if your looking to add an external screen, but don't plan on doing much video with it.
