Other Thoughts: The backplate hasn't actually gotten warm (I assume it's because the card runs cool anyway). I wouldn't consider a graphics card if it did not come with a backplate in the future.

Pros: It looks pretty sweet. And it makes it feel protected and more stable. I have no Idea if it cools anything really.

You can probably cook an egg on it

Other Thoughts: I thought I would share my thoughts about this backplate.
For all of you giving this thing 5 eggs, shame on you trying to justify the money you spent on it.
I got it for free with the card. I'm glad for that.

It does ad a look to the card that you would otherwise not see. and probably not care about if it weren't there.

It does not really DISSIPATE heat as much as people are claiming it does. and unless you have a case fan blowing on it, realisticly it might even trap more heat than anything.

3 stars is fair, especially because they charge 20 hard earned dollars for this. The card itself is awesome!

Other Thoughts: I really feel like $20 is just EVGA getting greedy. This backplate should have just come on the GTX 960 for free. Luckily I got this for free as a promotional deal when I bought the GPU. Other then that this backplate looks awesome and feels sturdy.

Cons: The default screws in the graphics card were too tight for me to remove. Therefore, I couldn't install the backplate.

Pros: ~They say it helps cool the RAM on the backside of the card. I did not take temp readings before and after so I couldn't say but it seems logical that it would.
~They say it helps prevent card droop. The current EVGA cards already feel very stiff so I don't know if that is really an issue, but it can't hurt.
~It looks great! When you look through the window in the case it looks so much better than the bare PCB. My son worked very hard to earn that card (he is 10) and this really helps him show it off.
~Installation was so simple. I used a screwdriver and nutdriver but you could probably get it done with just the screwdriver. Took 5 minutes.
~Well made. This is so much more solid than the backplate that came on my G1 Gaming 970. This EVGA piece is made of a nice rigid piece of Aluminum. Gigabyte used recycled cardboard and warm butter.

Cons: Can't see a one.

Other Thoughts: I got this for my son's GTX 960 with the free promo. Before we got it I would have said that this is a product that I would not likely pay for as it is unneeded, but after installing it and seeing it I probably would buy it.

As a total aside, I give Newegg 5 stars on this and my previous thousand purchases from them. They have never let me down.

Pros: Sleek, sexy looking backplate, mine was included in my gtx960 purchase at no cost and I gotta say, black on black color scheme is very nice.
