4 out of 5 eggsFinally...

Pros: Finally, a video capture device that works with Windows 7 x64 right out of the box. Windows recognized the device and loaded the drivers with no issues. I was able to copy VHS, VHS-C and 8 mm tapes to my pc and burn DVD copies with acceptable audio and video quality.

Cons: I could not find the CD key on the included software for the life of me. Fortunately, I already had a recent copy of Cyberlink PowerDirector which worked well with this capture device.

Other Thoughts: If you are planning on doing a lot of video, it is probably worth spending some money on better software than is supplied with this product.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

DVD EZMaker USB Gold includes Cyberlink DVD Suite. In order to use the device to capture video you will need to open Cyberlink PowerDirector. Once you have the signal source connected you will see the preview in Cyberlink PowerDirector which will let you capture the video to your computer. Please contact Technnical Support if you have any questions.

1 out of 5 eggsHate this product

Pros: Easy to capture VHS content.

Cons: Will NOT burn to DVD or Create a file to my hardrive so that I could burn in another program. This Product will freeze up at the drop of a hat! I created an entire 47 min long video, worked on it for weeks, and then could not burn to dvd or hardrive! will get to 21% and nothing!
The program is not user friendly to the average person.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

DVD EZMaker USB Gold includes Cyberlink PowerProducer. Using PowerProducer you can burn the recorded video files to a DVD. If you need help with using the feature please contact Technical Support.

The user manual for Cyberlink software can be downloaded here. http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/support/powerproducer/userguide_en_US.html

3 out of 5 eggsGood Capture, Surprise Software

Pros: Capture worked well, easy setup, Cyberlink DVD Suite 7 appears to be nice software if not for the "Con" below.

Cons: The capture device will not allow you to capture copyrighted video. This is one of the only capture devices that has that restriction, so if you get it make sure that's ok for you. The software is a different matter. What you get, PowerDirector and PowerProducer from Cyberlink was nice to start with but you run into a wall because what you get is like a trial version that has some of the capabilities disabled. When you hit that wall a message comes up asking you if you want to purchase the full version. What a rip off. You need to pay another $50-$60 to get software that really works the way it should.

Other Thoughts: I really wanted to like this package and for downloading/capturing old home vhs video it worked well. But the software was a real disappointment. It looks like it could be nice software for video capture and editing but it's a trial version. Other software will recognize the device, not Pinnacle, so you can use the other software to capture and make DVD's for example. So, bottom line, nice hardware for non copyrighted video capture, deficient/crippled software.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

The product will not record videos that has copyright protection. It supports recording videos without the copyright protection, homemade videos or video game console gameplay.

We include Cyberlink PowerDirector which gives you the option to to record video into MPEG2 format with an option to edit videos. Then you can use Cyberlink PowerProducer to create DVDs from the recorded.

If you have questions regarding Cyberlink software please contact Technical Support.

5 out of 5 eggsIts a CAPTURE device

Pros: captures well.sound is in sync.easy install 64 bit win7.I wanted to move some ageing vhs to dvd and this does exactly that.$32.99 on sale & free shipping.

Cons: capture is real time...2hour vhs plays 2 hours.

Other Thoughts: picture quality is only as good as original. for $33 doesnt take vhs tape and turn into HD. no TV tuner because ITS NOT A TUNER its a capture device.cd key is on cd.again for you " high techs" cd key is on cd.software is well worth money. it can be upgraded ($$$) but I bought just for capture function. people should be more realistic of there tech assessment of themselves.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter then the other one I bought

Pros: Was easy to install with win7 I couldn't find another capture card that was this easy to install or even work period. Even when they claimed it would work it wouldn't work. But at any rate this product worked right out of the box.

Cons: Software it comes with isn't the best, downloaded some free software seems to work a lot better. Also it was a bit confusing on where the cd key was located but figured it out.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if it's the recording software I am using or not but it seems to be dropping frames slightly i have tried a few different ones and some seem to be fine while others seem a bit jerky.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: No problems installing on XP
Cheap price
Inlcudes Cyberlink DVD Suite v5

Cons: I've had it for a week and haven't found any cons.

Other Thoughts: I prefer to use VirtualDub which is a free program you can find on the internet to capture from my VHS. Then use ConvertXtoDVD if I want to burn the captured media file to a DVD.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Easy

Pros: Works great and very easy to install. I use this to transfer directly from my VHS-C Camcorder.

Cons: I am a little lost as to how to burn to a DVD but with practice I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Other Thoughts: This is meant to transfer analog to digital, It will not improve the quality of the original footage. A short cut instruction or handbook would be wonderful. The CD Key can be found on the CD itself.
