1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: None.

Cons: I have a basic cable connection from Time Warner. Aver Media Center detects the signal, but the signal is buffered every few seconds, and it's impossible to watch. Windows Media Center detects the card, but all it will play is things like the Home Shopping network; no NBC, CBS, etc. Unfortunately, by the time I gave up on it it was too late to return it.

Other Thoughts: I should have paid attention to all the reviewers who said they couldn't make it work instead of the few who raved about it. Don't make the same mistake, or if you do, return it promptly.

3 out of 5 eggsha

Pros: pci & not usb my experiance has shown me that with vista very few if any tuner cards & usbs work period i've tried about 7-8 different ones so w/7 works much better but avermedia is only so/so hit & miss.

Cons: none of these tuners are as good as a digital tuner in a tv or a converter box my harrpaughe (spelling ? )1850 conected to a amplified roof antenna gets half the channels of my lg converter box so buyer be ware w/windows 7.

Other Thoughts: if you have vista forget it you can down load anything you want w/poor results & like i say expect about half the channels you could get w/ a good digital tv or good converter box.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Tuner for Windows Media Center

Pros: Works with Windows Media Center flawlessly;
resumes from S3 and is still available to WMC; (unlike my old ATI HDTV Wonder)
I decided that this digital tuner is all I need because I use over-the-air antenna input and I have an FM radio in my office.

Cons: Forget the AVer Media Center, just install the drivers and run Windows Media Center setup.

AVerMedia tech support didn't tell me to run WMC setup so I didn't have immediate success, now they know.
AMC is definately buggy and freezes if you open it, close it, open it again and select TV. AVC does not resume from S3 sleep gracefully.

Other Thoughts: Must run Windows Media Center setup. Installing drivers is not enough. I explained this to AVerMedia Tech Support and they have promised to make this info available to new customers. My WMC did not automatically run Setup after I installed the drivers and the card appeared in Device Manager, perhaps because it had done that automatically for my previous card ATI HDTV Wonder. It also didn't find any NEW channels on the channel scan which worried me until I realized it already had the channels from the previous setup. Tasks->settings->TV->Set Up TV Signal-> ... I tried the "manual" option to select antenna etc.

Pros: Small, quick install, works with digital signals and digital HD over the air

Cons: DOES NOT ACCEPT ANALOG SIGNALS. So - if you have a cable box with the old style "channel 3" output, THIS WON'T WORK FOR YOU as I learned the hard way. With Verizon Fios, you need a cable box since the vast majority of their programming is not in "clear QAM". In my area, the vast majority of channels are available only through a cable box. Of the bazillion channels on Fios, I can get a whopping 27 channels - the local 'over the air' channels and half of those foreign language channels. Bueno.

Other Thoughts: Good thing I got a $20 rebate on this... so this brick (for me) only cost me $20. Bummer

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

AVerTVHD Bravo is designed as a pure digital TV Tuner which will support OTA digital or Clear QAM which we state clearly on the product description. If you want analog signal from a Set Top Box you will need an analog TV Tuner.

5 out of 5 eggsgood card

Pros: fast channel changes.small. crystal clear picture

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: for people who can't get this to work your doing something wrong. if you complain about poor picture quality your an idiot. digital signals are either there or they aren't. there is no difference in picture quality between this and any other digital tuner card.if you don't know how to set it up don't get mad and blame the product for your stupidity.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect ! Time Records ATSC HDTV on my PC

Pros: This unit functions fine with my Intel E4500 Gigabyte MB P35 Nvida 8800GT Pc with Windows 7 64 bit. With Media Center I can set it to time record. The system wakes up from S3 sleep mode records my show on the local over the air ATSC HDTV channels then goes back to sleep.I can then play i back later.

Cons: Need to get the proper Windows 7 Driver.
With the driver that Windows first loads for the hardware it does not work. The supplied software disk is Xp/Vista.

Other Thoughts: I loaded the software that came on the disk it still would not work. Then I went to Device Manager found the hardware and selected Update Driver, windows searched the internet, found it told me to restart then everything works fine. I then removed the software that was on the disk because I prefer Media Center.
I had an old PCI ATI HDTV Wonder, it worked except it would be lost when system would came out of sleep mode everytime, no good.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Inexpensive, functional. Works well with Windows 7 and Windows Media Center.

Cons: Software not the most intuitive and included drivers don't work with 64-bit machines. AVerQuick failed to display video after hibernation overnite, had to reboot.

Other Thoughts: 64-bit drivers are available on the Mfrs. website. I may have missed a note about them when installing the included drivers but it didn't jump out and tell me anything like you'd think it would.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: No additional driver/Software installation for Windows 7 - Win7 found and installed the hardware

Works with Windows Media Center 7

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I am using this card to stream over the air channels to my Windows Media Extenders (Xbox 360s) in several rooms of my house. I was able to plug the card in, hook up my antenna to the card, and go through a brief setup in Windows Media Center 7 to find available channels -- I have been up and running ever since. I have been to watch, record, and schedule programs to record without any issues.

I would recommend getting the dual tuner version of this card as you will not be able to record and watch a different channel at the same time. This also goes for multi-room (setups like I have) -- f you are watching TV through a Windows Media Extender (Xbox 360) in multiple rooms at the same time, you will only be able to watch 1 channel.
