5 out of 5 eggsMy favorite capture card

Pros: Easy to install
Works in any PCI slot
Cheap
1080p
Working on Windows 8.1
Easy Install
Barely any CPU usage

Cons: No install CD
RECentral does not have an option to overlay webcam with game footage
30fps limit for 1080p "Not that most people can watch a video at 60fps in 1080, but still"

Other Thoughts: Overall, I love it and helps me greatly more than Fraps or Dxtory ever did, just still wish there was an easy way to record webcam along with it, also if there was a way to fix "copy protected" issue when attempting to record stuff such as Call of Duty on PC.

With this card I'm able to actually play my games in High/Ultra settings without any framerate issues unlike with Fraps my fps would drop as I'm actively playing, so to trade out being able to actually play but record in 30fps isn't bothersome to me when youtube only supports 60fps in 720p anyway.

3 out of 5 eggsI don't have the card

Pros: I was looking to purchase this card. I was wondering if I could hook up a console and record that. I need something to replace my Hauppauge HD PVR. It would be cool to record normal PC Games.

Cons: none. just have some questions

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Purchase Ever

Pros: NONE

Cons: So Many Issues with this card it is not worth the purchase
BAD support that argues for months and refuses to replace the card till it goes out of warranty then they claim the card is broken finally and won't replace it cause it is out of warranty no Phone support either all you get is broken English emails that argue with you and refuse to fix their product

Other Thoughts: So now after over 10 months of trying to get my card replaced its now considered out of warranty by this dumb company they refused to offer proper support and made excuses for so long that it is now they are saying my card is out of warranty it should not be this big of a hassle to get a product replaced and or fixed especially considering the money spent on the product I have already reported the company to the better business bureau and to new egg for what they have done for all the people out there this is a final warning do not buy there products. Not to mention when I even first received my product I couldn't even use it cause I had to RMA it straight out of the box...... and now they just argue about sending me another one for months. I finally get an answer that the card is broken after I post this to the companies Facebook after months and months of the support arguing with me that nothing is wrong. I would give it negative eggs if I could. When I first received one it had to be sent back out of the box, I figured give them a chance because hey sometimes things ship with issues but with this lack of customer service and support help I will never ever buy anything from them ever again.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Piece of Hardware. Great Buy

Pros: I bought this card looking for a better compressioning method then fraps, this card goes over the bar I had set in mind. Before fraps would record lossless RGB video that is raw, about an hour was 300 gigs of video, I have a 1tb drive I save too, but this was still an outrageous file size, and when recording with fraps it always dropped me to 60 fps no matter what. with this card constantly gaming and recording (just in case anything amazing happens) at 200+ fps in some of my favorite games (Warframe, Cod Mw2, Garrys Mod, Ftl, and many others) and the compression is amazing, it isn't fuzzy like some recording programs or looses sharpness after rendering, everything is true 1080p and 3 hours of video was only 13 gigs, an amazing size compared to the raw files. I highly recommend this card to anyone, as it was recommended to me. And the box presentation is absolutely astounding, when you open this thing you already know it's going to be a great product, plus the button and free xsplit trial is pretty nice.

Cons: Unfortunately I was hoping this card could record 1080p at 60 fps, but it's only 30 fps, you can switch to 720p at 60 tho but I like giving my viewers the best looking content.

5 out of 5 eggsAlot of people aren't installing this properly...

Pros: 1080p 30fps streaming capabilities
720p 60fps streaming capabilities
Easy to install
Takes up virtually no space
Simple to use if you aren't a dummy.
Makes streams on Twitch look so clean
Captures your monitor flawlessly

Cons: No 1080p at 60fps (But honestly who has the internet connection to watch this on a Twitch stream besides me?)
It did not come with a CD with all the software, but that is normal to me since it can all be downloaded these days.

Other Thoughts: Forward: The below comments are for a streaming setup for PC GAMES. NOT CONSOLES.

Alot of people that are commenting about these devices being bricked or can't get their monitor to run at 144hz or 120hz with this card aren't doing their research or have no common sense.

First off, all you have to do to get this card to work is to go on Avermedia's site and download the driver FIRST. Then go and get v.22 firmware and restart your system. VIOLA! it works. DURRRR. So hard....

Next if you are scared of having your precious 144 or 120hz monitor being locked at 60hz because you are running it as a pass-through through the Avermedia card, then you are doing it wrong. Go to the back of your computer.... If you have a card from the past, I don't know, 3 or 4 years then you have an extra jack called a mini hdmi, or display port. USE THAT AS A MONITOR. Get the cable to plug it from the mini hdmi/display port to the hdmi input on the Avermedia card. Then go into your video card settings (Nvidia Control Panel) and Clone the main monitor display with the Avermedia and you are done.

**WARNING** If you use this as a one PC streaming system it WILL NOT be better than using OBS' Game or Window capture. If you have a seperate system that is STRICTLY for streaming aside from your gaming PC then it will run amazing.

Towelieee has a perfect example on how to use this card the way I have explained. Search for AVerMedia Live Gamer HD, #1 Live Streaming Capture Card, 1080p Streaming! on YouTube. glhf

4 out of 5 eggsFew Issues, Not related to hardware.

Pros: Compact
PCIx1
Cost
Performance
HDMI
Audio Capture
1080p\720p
Live Streaming
cosmetics
quick and easy installation.
Software\default drivers
Recenter
MP4 or TS format selection
Separated Microphone audio save file from game footage
Twitch handle credentials
Xsplit redeem code.
works with Win 7, Win 8 and 8.1 update

Cons: newer drivers "firmware" bricks capture card. (Default drivers are best used)
separate software installation needed to enable streaming capabilities.
No instillation CD at time of unboxing.
audio pass through was difficult setting up from control panel in windows. ( I used headset to play games)
device requires front speaker pass through.
30FPS when recording 1080p
no external webcam support in recenter software.
recenter cosmetics

Other Thoughts: If Avermeda can release an updated version of Recenter that includes the stream engine as part of Recenter and not as a separate entity that would make me happy. Why this card can not record at 1080p at 60fps is beyond my knowledge. over all if you use the default drivers with the updated software, this device is worth a purchase. I highly recommend no one update their drivers. Actually I recommend people to back up the driver folder after download. who knows if Avermedia will remove the download from their site.. Recenter is a joke right now. This device works best with Open Broadcaster. Xsplit is a joke. Even though the FPS at 1080p is 30. this device actually records very smoothly. I have not seen any screen tearing. I am interested in their portable version as well.

5 out of 5 eggsLong Time Owner

Pros: Offload encoding to lower CPU usage and temps allowing for increased performance in your game(s) where it's needed most.

Many similar products will only record or broadcast at your screen or application resolution. On the surface that sounds fine but if you want to broadcast to Twitch at 720p 60fps do you really want your system or game operating at 720p? Probably not.

Using this card and Xsplit I was able to completely ditch Fraps. Many a time I have accidentally began recording and not even known it because the frame rate simply does not move.

Cons: None. Seriously, there really aren't any. You may not have to look far for a bad review but do yourself a favor and investigate the situation. Find out what the person was trying to do or what they were doing wrong. Know the input/output is HDMI before purchasing. There are seriously workarounds for most, if not all, issues that arise with this card.

Other Thoughts: I need to say this. This unit has a bad reputation and that can be explained.

- Few people actually have the need for this product.
- Fewer still know of it's existence.
- Fewer than that actually know how to set it up and use it properly.

With the proper amount of research and realistic expectations you will hold this device in high regards and it will quickly become one of your favorite pieces of hardware.

I cannot stress this next part enough. I highly recommend using Xsplit or OBS along with this device for local recordings. OBS is free and matches Xsplit feature for feature and some claim to have better performance while using it. I personally don't see a difference as neither really stress my rig. That said you'll find that you get a higher quality, smaller files, and other valuable features that make recording a breeze and cut out a lot of the post production work as well. For example you can use an overlay or lower 3rd in OBS instead of adding it in Vegas/AE.

1 out of 5 eggsRETURNING IT!

Pros: Low CPU consuption almost no lag when streaming on TWITCH.TV

Cons: okay here's the downside for this item, if you have 144hz monitor you wont be able to take full advantage use of it since this item is locked in @ 1080p 60hz "UNLESS" you are rich and have 2 computers then this is for you.

Other Thoughts: Returning it gonna wait till they support 1080p @ 144hz +

2 out of 5 eggsyou might want to read this one...

Pros: GREAT BOX lol. easy to get set up. works well with xsplit. drivers/firmware are located right on website (note that others have had problems with firmware).

Cons: either my card is defective or the card is bugged to be set at only 720p and can't go any higher than that. read other thoughts for more details.

note i am getting a replacement and will be reporting back to see if it is just the card or if all of them are bugged. i will also show my comp build if the next one is bugged too. also i will make a video and upload it to help explain what is in other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: I am a very well knowledge game streamer and IT specialist. i have read most of the reviews here about this card and i would like to say that all of them are right. Last night (night before this post) i tested out this card excited to do a two computer stream to twitch.tv using Xsplit. after taking the card out of the box, putting it into the computer, and installing the drivers it decided that i would not function at 1080p. what i mean by that is when i duplicate my screens (my asus monitor which is 1080p and the capture card that is hooked up with hdmi from my video card) it changes my resolution down to 720p. When i extend the displays (asus monitor is main display and the capture card is second display) it has my monitor at 1080p while the capture card is at 720p. as i look at the settings on my computer it is telling me that both displays are at 1920*1080 (aka 1080p) but when i move a window from my monitor to the capture card it changes the resolution of my window to 720p (what this does is makes my window big but blurry like as if you just zoomed into the window itself). i know it is not my video card because i tried using my intel integrated graphics instead and it did the same thing. this may not make a lot of sense to everyone here but ALL-IN-ALL the capture card either is bugged or this particular one that i have is defective. either way this is another bad review for this card, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

note that i tried it before and after firmware update. the firmware did not bork my card though where some others seem to have had this problem.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of Time

Pros: Almost 0 load on the CPU.
Captures screen exactly as you see it.
Flexible with inputs and outputs.
Internal card (if you don't want another external item on your desk.

Cons: Couldn't record a video longer than 20 minute without some sort of issue.

Don't waste your time with this.

Other Thoughts: I've been struggling with this card for about 5 months now. I usually record long gaming sessions, and then try to go back and trim out the stuff I care about. With the firmware and software included in the box (worked the best), the audio and video would desync by a second after 30-40 minutes. Upgrading the firmware and everything to current kept the video and audio in sync, but dropped the framerate to maybe 5 fps after 20 minutes. You can't downgrade the firmware or driver once you upgrade, so I'm using the latest firmware, drivers, and second oldest program release. Now the audio file is fine, but the video is at 1.5x speed.
