4 out of 5 eggsDoes its job with minor annoyances.

Pros: Records footage on the same computer with 0 performance hit and small file size.

Can record high quality video up to 60mbps once firmware is flashed.

Can record windows sound as well as hdmi input sound.

Contrary to what other reviewers have said my card didn't brick itself when I updated the firmware, I read some people do have the problem but was able to search online for a way to fix it, apparently a device driver issue in windows more than a hardware problem.

Updating the firmware fixed several issues and unlocked bitrates above 20mbps (up to 60mbps).

Cons: Main Con: Lack of ability to record 1080@60 FPS - I knew this before getting the card however so not taking an egg for that.

Other Cons - Lots of little annoying things:

Card does not like soft reboots, has problems after a computer restart that isnt a full power off + turn back on cycle. Causes weird issues with record button not working or monitors flashing etc.

Blows out blacks on hdmi pass through without firmware update and their "0-255" color setting which i have had reset on me a few times even though saving it as the default option. This takes 5 sec on reboot to fix however so not a major issue just annoying.

Software seems kinda buggy but works overall, haven't had too many issues except when I tried to use it to stream directly to twitch for a test. (Crashed when I started the stream up.) I have not tried since after firmware update however, I usually just use OBS for streaming anyways.

The complaint other users have had about windows/mic audio desyncing after an hour or so I did experience, the firmware update claims to fix it but I haven't tested yet.

Other Thoughts: Received card for christmas.

I wanted this card because I do not have one of the newer model GPU's with a built in MPEG compressor in it, and taking a giant FPS hit in video games while recording was getting annoying. For recording purposes I really have little complaints about the card, it does its job.

It has a lot of little quirks though that have to be compensated for, less experienced users may have issues working around these things and think the card isnt functioning, the software works but is a little bit on the buggy side.

I knew the card wasn't going to record 1080@60 before buying it but with a certain video site's recent change to 60 fps videos, having 1080@60 fps would be a great thing to have. I have settled for recording at 720@60 just because 60 fps on games looks so much nicer.

4 out of 5 eggsLove it!

Pros: Fast Install
Sexy Packaging
No Latency
Great Quality
Barely any CPU impact
Easily works in OBS and XSplit

Cons: Issues having the computer finding the card. Even though the pass through was working.
Had to fumble around their badly setup website to find the right drivers and Firmware.

Other Thoughts: I love this thing so far! I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. The only issues I had was my computer was having issues finding the device. But after a few re-installs and firmware update everything was smooth from there. I only stream in 720p 30fps due to Twitch's ways. But Thats fine. I highly recommended this card for New streamers.

2 out of 5 eggs"Meh" of "Mehest"

Pros: Better than its competitors and offers a lot of different configuration options, such as dual PC or console.

It sort of works, sometimes.

Cons: Drivers are buggy, slow, and have awkward controls.

The hardware suffers of much the same, but with the ability to cause display issues on up to two computers at the same time.

It is pointless to buy this for capture within a one PC system, unless you are incredibly CPU bound.

It likes to crash, gets too hot, doesn't have that much benefit in CPU off-load (varies by use), and costs too much.

As for design, I threw the tacky remote it came with back in the box once I checked that it would work without it. The whole thing has this cheesy "xXxMLGN0SK0P3SxXx" vibe to it, which really devalues it in my eyes. I wouldn't put it in a case with a window.

Oh, and finally, it doesn't record 1920x1080 at 60fps. Just doesn't. If you want 60fps, you have to go to 720p.

Other Thoughts: You can't use it to pirate live TV (easily) and it sucks for games, so avoid it I guess.

2 out of 5 eggsAVerMedia Live Gamer HD - Capture & Share Your PC Game Footages C985 PCI-Express x1 Interface

Pros: Not that many, works good to record when not streaming online but even still it uses my cpu like crazy, i go from 60fps to 20fps.

Cons: When I try to stream and change the bit rate to at least 20mb it lags and stutters and I have a 65mb upload speed, very disapointing hardware my video card did better streaming and recording.
When im using it with windows 8.1 the icons go huge like if im running at a lower resolution and the quality drops too.

Other Thoughts: First streaming card bad choice on getting it and bad hardware.

4 out of 5 eggsnot perfect, but as good as they get right now.

Pros: Captures in great quality, encodes really nicely, and has great audio capture too.

Cons: only captures at 30fps in 1080p. description lies a bit when it says 60fps capture. it only allows PASSTHROUGH of 60fps, but captures half that framerate unless you set to capture a lower resolution. some games don't take a hit from it, but most show an obvious difference when viewing footage.

Other Thoughts: haven't tried the latest firmware yet, but seeing that it bricks peoples' cards is worrisome...

5 out of 5 eggsMy favorite capture card

Pros: Easy to install
Works in any PCI slot
Cheap
1080p
Working on Windows 8.1
Easy Install
Barely any CPU usage

Cons: No install CD
RECentral does not have an option to overlay webcam with game footage
30fps limit for 1080p "Not that most people can watch a video at 60fps in 1080, but still"

Other Thoughts: Overall, I love it and helps me greatly more than Fraps or Dxtory ever did, just still wish there was an easy way to record webcam along with it, also if there was a way to fix "copy protected" issue when attempting to record stuff such as Call of Duty on PC.

With this card I'm able to actually play my games in High/Ultra settings without any framerate issues unlike with Fraps my fps would drop as I'm actively playing, so to trade out being able to actually play but record in 30fps isn't bothersome to me when youtube only supports 60fps in 720p anyway.

3 out of 5 eggsI don't have the card

Pros: I was looking to purchase this card. I was wondering if I could hook up a console and record that. I need something to replace my Hauppauge HD PVR. It would be cool to record normal PC Games.

Cons: none. just have some questions

1 out of 5 eggsWorst Purchase Ever

Pros: NONE

Cons: So Many Issues with this card it is not worth the purchase
BAD support that argues for months and refuses to replace the card till it goes out of warranty then they claim the card is broken finally and won't replace it cause it is out of warranty no Phone support either all you get is broken English emails that argue with you and refuse to fix their product

Other Thoughts: So now after over 10 months of trying to get my card replaced its now considered out of warranty by this dumb company they refused to offer proper support and made excuses for so long that it is now they are saying my card is out of warranty it should not be this big of a hassle to get a product replaced and or fixed especially considering the money spent on the product I have already reported the company to the better business bureau and to new egg for what they have done for all the people out there this is a final warning do not buy there products. Not to mention when I even first received my product I couldn't even use it cause I had to RMA it straight out of the box...... and now they just argue about sending me another one for months. I finally get an answer that the card is broken after I post this to the companies Facebook after months and months of the support arguing with me that nothing is wrong. I would give it negative eggs if I could. When I first received one it had to be sent back out of the box, I figured give them a chance because hey sometimes things ship with issues but with this lack of customer service and support help I will never ever buy anything from them ever again.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Piece of Hardware. Great Buy

Pros: I bought this card looking for a better compressioning method then fraps, this card goes over the bar I had set in mind. Before fraps would record lossless RGB video that is raw, about an hour was 300 gigs of video, I have a 1tb drive I save too, but this was still an outrageous file size, and when recording with fraps it always dropped me to 60 fps no matter what. with this card constantly gaming and recording (just in case anything amazing happens) at 200+ fps in some of my favorite games (Warframe, Cod Mw2, Garrys Mod, Ftl, and many others) and the compression is amazing, it isn't fuzzy like some recording programs or looses sharpness after rendering, everything is true 1080p and 3 hours of video was only 13 gigs, an amazing size compared to the raw files. I highly recommend this card to anyone, as it was recommended to me. And the box presentation is absolutely astounding, when you open this thing you already know it's going to be a great product, plus the button and free xsplit trial is pretty nice.

Cons: Unfortunately I was hoping this card could record 1080p at 60 fps, but it's only 30 fps, you can switch to 720p at 60 tho but I like giving my viewers the best looking content.

5 out of 5 eggsAlot of people aren't installing this properly...

Pros: 1080p 30fps streaming capabilities
720p 60fps streaming capabilities
Easy to install
Takes up virtually no space
Simple to use if you aren't a dummy.
Makes streams on Twitch look so clean
Captures your monitor flawlessly

Cons: No 1080p at 60fps (But honestly who has the internet connection to watch this on a Twitch stream besides me?)
It did not come with a CD with all the software, but that is normal to me since it can all be downloaded these days.

Other Thoughts: Forward: The below comments are for a streaming setup for PC GAMES. NOT CONSOLES.

Alot of people that are commenting about these devices being bricked or can't get their monitor to run at 144hz or 120hz with this card aren't doing their research or have no common sense.

First off, all you have to do to get this card to work is to go on Avermedia's site and download the driver FIRST. Then go and get v.22 firmware and restart your system. VIOLA! it works. DURRRR. So hard....

Next if you are scared of having your precious 144 or 120hz monitor being locked at 60hz because you are running it as a pass-through through the Avermedia card, then you are doing it wrong. Go to the back of your computer.... If you have a card from the past, I don't know, 3 or 4 years then you have an extra jack called a mini hdmi, or display port. USE THAT AS A MONITOR. Get the cable to plug it from the mini hdmi/display port to the hdmi input on the Avermedia card. Then go into your video card settings (Nvidia Control Panel) and Clone the main monitor display with the Avermedia and you are done.

**WARNING** If you use this as a one PC streaming system it WILL NOT be better than using OBS' Game or Window capture. If you have a seperate system that is STRICTLY for streaming aside from your gaming PC then it will run amazing.

Towelieee has a perfect example on how to use this card the way I have explained. Search for AVerMedia Live Gamer HD, #1 Live Streaming Capture Card, 1080p Streaming! on YouTube. glhf
