2 out of 5 eggsWorked and then Stopped

Pros: Program works well, the set up was easy, fairly simple for a first time streamer. Comes with the proper Cabling.

Cons: I've had it for about three months working just fine, but one day I turned my PC on to find out the capture card isn't getting any signal nor is it giving signal to my monitor. I've had to plug my graphics card directly into my monitor and bypass it completely to troubleshoot, tried multiple resolutions... I worked on it for several days until I found out the device was not showing up right or working in windows Device Management. It shows up as PCI DEVICE with the error 'STOPPED WORKING' and it won't recognize the device enough to install drivers or firmware.

I had to initiate an RMA and the process is going to take 3-5 days shipping to their facility, 2-3 days of troubleshooting there, and then 3-5 days back. If you're a streamer or some kind of person who depends on this for income, your worst case scenario is a 8 BUSINESS DAY minimum downtime.

Other Thoughts: Avermedia support is handling it as well as they can, but the 8 days downtime is a real bummer. What can I do? *shrug*

2 out of 5 eggsLe sigh

Pros: Nice looking card, box looks nice. packaging awesome. That hot button, though. Kappa
Seriouslu, a breeze to install. but its just putting into a slot, so yeah.

Cons: No Installation CD, had to hunt down drivers. Firmware update bricked card.

No where does it say if these cards are v22. Only that RECenter requires v22. Firmware installed fine, but threw up the Code 10 after completion. RMA'd card through Newegg as Avermedia is apparently a joke about support,

Other Thoughts: This card came highly recommended by many of the streamers I associate with. Sadly, they have had theirs since before they stopped including Install CDs. Not having a capture card for a few weeks limits the content I can put out, which in turn hurts my community. So if AverMedia were to admit fault and take down the faulty firmware, then a lot of these issues would have been avoided.

2 out of 5 eggsMalfunction

Pros: Got the card for twitch streaming. Was recommended to me by other streamers. Comes with all materials needed and some special perks.

Cons: Could not get the card to work. It would work for about 10 seconds and then say "out of range" then say "no signal. Tried it with 4 different consoles. Downloaded several different drivers as I was told the ones on the website dont work.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if it is a coincidence or not but a day after i installed this card, my gpu started to malfunction.

5 out of 5 eggsWow!

Pros: Wow! this thing is good! Records crisp clean video especially when at 60 mbps and naturally works on xbox pc and WiiU just to name a few.

ReCentral is absolutely amazing! The program lets you change every little setting and that helps alot.

Does't Stutter while capturing and just works. Hit record and forget. Did a test of 4 hours of recording at 50 mbps and it did not stop or stutter once which is amazing.

Cons: Doesn't normally work on PS3 which unfortunately for me is the console i use most. That being said someone out there has managed to make a custom version of ReCentral which disables HDCP. If your someone who uses PS3 for most of their games i suggest looking into that as it saves you the hassle and money of having to buy an adapter to bypass it. I didn't knock off an egg due to the fact it's not the capture cards fault its Sony's fault.

Also the specs listing of this thing is something to desire. If your looking for more indepth specs check the other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: Compared to using something like fraps and stuff like that to record your games this thing is amazing. It does't force anymore work on your pc as a result you can capture your screen without loosing FPS which is great.

Now some of the specs and settings that is harder to find are:

You can record in 720p (or Lower) @ 60fps. 1080p @ 30fps.

Recording can be done at: .3mbps to 60mbps. Giving you amazing range if your recording some retro stuff or just have very little HDD space.

You can enable mic recording with the gameplay as well as you can make it so it captures the mic audio in a seperate .mp3 file which is great if you edit videos and want to increase the mic audio and decrease the gameplay or something like that.

If your using the HDMI passthrough i have found ZERO LATENCY which is fantastic. Now something like my PS3 is plugged into the HDMI Input then the output to my TV. If your playing something by looking at the video preview on the pc on ReCentral there is some latency and it is very noticeable and for some will be just outside the margin of playable.

For the most part CPU Usage is kept very low but still is increased a little. The capture card is being used on a pc with a i7 860 and will run about 20-25% cpu usage.

You can set profiles for recording which include resolution, mbps, Mic usage, Audio settings etc.

Hope this helps!!

10/10 would buy again

5 out of 5 eggsCrisp Video, Good Compression

Pros: -Easily toggle Record via USB Button, which also will launch software
-Software allows for easy integration of microphone synced with game recording and Microphone simultaneously
-option to record microphone in separate file or with video
-file quality and compression are fantastic! 5gb for an hour long video max quality
-lots of recording options allows for easy settings and pro level where you can control everything down to audio compression and fps

Cons: the only thing that has made me at all slightly disgruntled with this product is the fact that you are limited to recording frames per second... barely even a gripe video still looks phenomenal.

Other Thoughts: record button makes me feel like im on a game shoe every time i press it... it's pretty fun!

3 out of 5 eggsBought something i didn't need.

Pros: Its a capture card and it captures what you plug into it.
The packaging was nice.

Cons: Has some bug issues... sometimes it will not capture anything because of HDCP but its connected to my computer so not sure how thats possible.

Other Thoughts: I bought this because i thought it would increase my game performance when streaming to twitch..

Do not be fooled this is not what it does. You would need two of these cards to see any improvement in performance because you cannot capture and use the encoding on a single card. and even if you did have to the encoding is sub par on this card causing a drastic drop in quality of ur stream.

What this does do though is increase performance when recording gameplay to upload to youtube etc etc. the touch of a button recording is nice.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUY THIS FOR TWITCH STREAMING. it is ment that you build a entirely separate system for this card so u can capture ur gaming PC and stream from another one. thats the only way you would see a significant gain in ur game performance when streaming.

5 out of 5 eggsSo Far, Better Than Other Capture Cards

Pros: Just got this card in the mail today and so far its a joy.

First off, the packaging is incredibly sturdy and robust, it really does look like Aver put a lot of thought and effort into protecting this piece of hardware, not to mention from a design standpoint, the packaging is super slick and just looks top!

The card worked perfectly right out of the box although I haven't tried using the big button as of yet. Its a neat touch, but simply pressing record on screen is easy enough so yeah theres that.

Having previously owned the Black Magic Designs Intensity Pro card, I can say I instantly liked this card better because the setup was almost idiot proof and worked right out of the box with my XBOX ONE at 1080p 30fps. The BMD only caps at 720p with the XBOXONE and is kinda of quirky to get it going.

The software is pretty intuitive and easy to use and made the process really simple getting started up capturing within a few minutes.

Cons: Nothing so far, everything seems good to go.

Other Thoughts: Really diggin this card and the software so far, hope to have some content produced using this pretty soon.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat for multibox streaming

Pros: Great device for multibox streaming (capturing one computer and streaming with another). So far I've not had any issues using this device. One of the few devices that will capture in 1080p60 and output 720p60 natively at this price point. Major selling point for me.

Software seems solid, though admittedly I don't use it.

Cons: The drivers seem to be a little wonky, however I've not had any dire issues. No crashes, or anything along those lines. I do wish it had more driver level controls (brightness, contrast, etc) like other video devices tend to have, but this isn't a large enough deal to knock off more than one egg.

Other Thoughts: Overall a great device, and a great purchase for streamers looking to separate their gaming machines from their streaming PC. Having used it with my PS4, it's great as a general capture device as well. Recommended buy.

4 out of 5 eggsDoes its job with minor annoyances.

Pros: Records footage on the same computer with 0 performance hit and small file size.

Can record high quality video up to 60mbps once firmware is flashed.

Can record windows sound as well as hdmi input sound.

Contrary to what other reviewers have said my card didn't brick itself when I updated the firmware, I read some people do have the problem but was able to search online for a way to fix it, apparently a device driver issue in windows more than a hardware problem.

Updating the firmware fixed several issues and unlocked bitrates above 20mbps (up to 60mbps).

Cons: Main Con: Lack of ability to record 1080@60 FPS - I knew this before getting the card however so not taking an egg for that.

Other Cons - Lots of little annoying things:

Card does not like soft reboots, has problems after a computer restart that isnt a full power off + turn back on cycle. Causes weird issues with record button not working or monitors flashing etc.

Blows out blacks on hdmi pass through without firmware update and their "0-255" color setting which i have had reset on me a few times even though saving it as the default option. This takes 5 sec on reboot to fix however so not a major issue just annoying.

Software seems kinda buggy but works overall, haven't had too many issues except when I tried to use it to stream directly to twitch for a test. (Crashed when I started the stream up.) I have not tried since after firmware update however, I usually just use OBS for streaming anyways.

The complaint other users have had about windows/mic audio desyncing after an hour or so I did experience, the firmware update claims to fix it but I haven't tested yet.

Other Thoughts: Received card for christmas.

I wanted this card because I do not have one of the newer model GPU's with a built in MPEG compressor in it, and taking a giant FPS hit in video games while recording was getting annoying. For recording purposes I really have little complaints about the card, it does its job.

It has a lot of little quirks though that have to be compensated for, less experienced users may have issues working around these things and think the card isnt functioning, the software works but is a little bit on the buggy side.

I knew the card wasn't going to record 1080@60 before buying it but with a certain video site's recent change to 60 fps videos, having 1080@60 fps would be a great thing to have. I have settled for recording at 720@60 just because 60 fps on games looks so much nicer.
