2 out of 5 eggsFirmware v22

Pros: Card works. Haven't had much use out of it yet though.

Recentral is really easy to use. Newegg got it to me quick as always

Cons: !!!BEWARE!!! I, like many others, bought this card recently. I didn't use the CD as I don't have an optical drive, and the website will normally offer the latest drivers and firmware. The only way to install the firmware was to install the latest driver from avermedia's website. The v22 firmware bricked my card, and this has apparently happened to many others, but there is a work around if this happened to you:
1. Remove the card from your PC.
2. Boot into Safe Mode and remove all software and drivers, anything that has a trace of avermedia (I suggest CCleaner) and reboot
3. Reinstall the card into your PC.
4. (Google recentral to get to avermedia's website) Download the OLD driver by selecting Application and Driver > Release History> 1.2.0.25 (Build 12112105) and selecting DRIVER on the far right.
5. Install the driver and the device should be recognized.
6.You can now install the latest driver and the device should be recognized.

Other Thoughts: I would rate this higher, as the software is easy to use and installation is easy, but this firmware issue HAS TO BE FIXED. Even with the workaround having been successful for me, I cannot suggest this card to anyone purely on the basis avermedia is being lazy with their software, and it's costing people.

1 out of 5 eggsBe Wary of this Card

Pros: -little cpu impact
-easy to use interface
-integrated xsplit streaming
-cool button?

Cons: ugh, where to begin...

-The card advertises local recordings at 1080p at 30 fps, not true. I've never seen it get above 24 fps.
-So many audio desync issues when using an external microphone to record commentary
-It records everything with a variable fps, no option to change that which is a dealbreaker for me (adobe premiere does not support variable framerates so I have to convert everything I use to a constant framerate before I can edit anything
-Crashes my computer after an hour of use (this is a recent development)
-And to top it all off, horrible customer support. I submitted a support ticket and the only email I have received (apart from the initial "we got your support ticket" email) is one apologizing for how long it is taking (in very broken English I might add)

Other Thoughts: Go with something else. The company and product are both sub par

1 out of 5 eggsAverMedia

Pros: The boxing was splendid and overall look amazing

Cons: The avermedia product did not come with a installation disk. This was fine since i figured I could get the drivers off the website. I downloaded the drivers which could not detect my avermedia card. I check three times to make sure I installed the card correctly and watched many others do it to make sure I did not miss anything special. I didn't. I reinstalled all the drivers again to make sure it wasn't a fault in the hardware. I even went into bios to make sure nothing was happening. It was never detected so I returned it. overall no support from the avermedia. The only way to contact them is via twitter or facebook non of which are appealing to me in the present situation.

Other Thoughts: Piece of junk.

1 out of 5 eggsW-o-r-t-h-l-e-s-s.

Pros: Doesn't hit performance at all. Commercials were very convincing. Works great as long as you don't record cool and memorable things.

Cons: This is without a doubt, the worst excuse for a capture card, I've ever had the misfortune of laying eyes on. The card itself had to installed upside down since the installation kit didn't fit my custom tower. This I could live with. Unless you're using a monitor or TV with HDMI audio, you'll have no choice but to utilize the stereo audio jack which reduces sounds quality by about 80%. The software is basically one big bug. If you run itunes at any given time (even with the Avermedia Software closed), the HDCP warning will pop up and prevent you from recording forever. The only fix is to re-install the software and drivers entirely. I have to do this about once a week. If you record from more than an hour, you've got about a 50/50 chance of losing everything you've just done when the software crashes. Sometimes, it likes to continue recording even after being told to stop, the software freezes and cannot be quit/end tasked/or process killed, leaving the only option of re-booting which screws over the entire video index rendering the vid completely useless. Sometimes, it will also stop recording for no---apparent----reason----whatsoever. I've been in the middle of memorable game sessions only to discover that only half the video made it to the hard drive. I've already tried the Roxio capture cards, and if you can believe it, it's worse. I'm glad there are still a few other options out there, because I'm done with this sorry thing.

Avermedia, I award you no points, and may the powers that be, have mercy on your souls.

Other Thoughts: If you're playing on PC, avoid Roxio as well. I tried them before this one, and they're actually worse, if you can believe it. And for any of you blessed souls who haven't had these problems, enjoy it while you can.

2 out of 5 eggsWaste of money.

Pros: Great for capturing video. Great for capturing to a 2nd PC.

Cons: Terrible for streaming as an encoder as it advertises.

Had to contact Avermedia to get beta drivers that
worked with twitch.tv.

Even with beta drivers the quality is just bad and only worked 5 minutes. Put the extra cash into a better CPU.

Other Thoughts: 2 Eggs because it does capture well and does work great with streaming with 2 PC's. 1 Gaming , 1 Encoding. But again worthless as an encoder as it advertises.

2 out of 5 eggsgood while it lasted...

Pros: when it worked recording and sound was great.

Cons: costumer support none, lack of driver updates. and when there is one watch out ! there latest drives and frimware brakes the produce i can no longer record any videos at all. example hitting the record button crashes the application.

Other Thoughts: its hard to believe how low this company has gone in terms of costumer support. there drivers were release without testing as you can see from there facebook website people are in rage. stay away from this tell this is patch out or look ales where

4 out of 5 eggsWorks like a charm

Pros: -Low CPU usage
-Firmware update was painless
-Even on max settings, (highest bitrate, audio quality etc) it only takes 5Gb for a 10 min video (1080p)
-A glowing red button

Cons: -audio has a bit of static when playing games in full screen. Recording or not.
*This doesn't happen when listening to music with the pass through set up*
-Doesn't support 5.1 audio
*no digital optical nor full analog 5.1/ 7.1* This will work for headphones that are setup for virtual surround sound, but the output video will remain stereo.

-Won't go up further than 1080P resolution. ( even though i don't own anything with a higher resolution than 1080p)
*As more and more people start having more powerful systems and higher res monitors and televisions are coming out, i would at least expected a firmware update to go farther than 1080p

Other Thoughts: I don't know what the firmware issue is about but maybe im just the lucky few who had the update work properly. I won't deduct a egg for that but this is something that some owners about the card are noting. this should be brought into consideration when purchasing this card. Take every precaution to do the firmware update correctly.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Nice Box, but aside from that I cant give any pro's because the stupid thing doesnt even work.

Cons: I have several problems with this, it didn't come with an actual cd that had the drivers on it, it had a small piece of paper telling me where to download the firmware update. So I go and download the firmware update and it keeps telling me that its unable to find a supported card. I re-seat it in all of my PCi-E slots, same thing. (My pcie slots work fine btw) So guess what? Its DEAD ON ARRIVAL. Avermedia customer support is some of the worst out there, I mean its practically non existent. If and when you finally find the correct website to go to, it lets you submit a trouble ticket that could take upward of 2 weeks before you get a reply.

Other Thoughts: Ive heard a lot of people say these are great cards but they need to put the dang firmware update in the box.
