KWorld DVD Maker USB 2.0 VS- USB2800 USB 2.0 Interface

Pros: This USB interface is definitely cheap, and the quality of video is acceptable; I have successfully copied about 2 hours of video. MPG-2 (VCD style mode) works well. Runs fine on low powered PC (Windows XP, 10 year old Dell). Works ok with NTSC and PAL video sources (have PAL VCD player from Penang).

Cons: It doesn't work with Windows 8. The driver installs fine, but no video output. It takes a while to get a good produced video, and the AVI files are just too big with poor sound quality. MPG-1 doesn't work at all. Would be only 2 stars if it cost more money. It will do the job of moving old beta and VHS video to MPG-2.

Other Thoughts: Overall, it's worth the price. There's no way to get 1080i video from a 240i or 250i source...just isn't going to happen. However, as long as you are ok with playing around for a while, and have an old PC to use (dedicated...running other apps caused dropout in sound) it will be fine. I plan on leaving my old Dell in a spare room with the old Beta and VHS tapes and machines, and converting away until they are all digitized. It's a lot better than paying someone else $4 apiece.

Pros: Cheap, easy to install.

Cons: Worthless software included, does not perform as advertised. Limited detection by Windows 7.

Other Thoughts: If you buy this I highly recomend getting "Debut video capture software". The software included is horrible for transferring old videos from 8mm as it would repeatedly claim the source was copyrighted and cancel the capture.
I have read others having same problem with VHS. Debut video capture software solved this problem for me and is free. Windows Movie Maker in Win7 wouldn't recognise this device at all. Overall it is eventually doing what I need it to, but it took several hours of research to find a fix.

Pros: Works on Linux with the em28xx driver (which is not supported by KWorld as far as I know).

Cons: I have 4 of these, and on 2 of them, SVideo capture looks bad, it has a "burlap texture" quality in saturated areas. The other 2 units are perfectly smooth capturing from the same SVideo source (Sony D30 camera). Composite is always relatively smooth.

Separate line-in level audio input required.

Pros: Works great, I used debut capture software. If you cant get
the audio working remember to plug in the audio cable
into the mice input on your computer. In debut turn on the
stretch mode to get perfect aspect ration.

Cons: none

Pros: Good video quality form RCA. Price.

Cons: NO AUDIO WITH MINE! Never asked for the warranty, tho. Not at this price.

Pros: Works as intended, at least for me on Win7/64. Haven't tried the software bundled with it.

Cons: Took absolutely forever to get here, dunno which end the delay came from but ordered on the 21st, received on the 30th (from 2 whole states away!)

Other Thoughts: Plugged in, installed drivers, worked as it should. So far no real complaints.

Pros: none it didn't work I tried it on 2 different computers.

Cons: I tried it on 2 different computers. one found it the other didn't but the light never lit up and the utility didn't find it.

Pros: It is shiney!

Cons: There is almost nothing to recommend this item. The software works when not connected to the device. The device sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It may or may not drop audio, it may work for an hour or 5 minutes.

Other Thoughts: Life is way too short to waste minutes ( or hours ) trying to make up for the shortcomings of bad hardware. Spend more on something good.

Pros: Can capture video and audio.

Cons: Software that comes with it is junk.

Other Thoughts: accualy i give it a -5 because i installed the drivers and then when i pluged it in it gave my computer the blue screen of almost death and i had to "system restore" my whole computer. i would not recommend this too anyone... period end of paragraph
