1 out of 5 eggsnothing but headaches

Pros: I don't think it has any at this time.

Cons: There are no drivers for Windows 7!! It was a pain to install. Cables are short. The software has some kind of error with the remote. I found a driver for it for Windows 7 on kworld's website but I do not know if it work just yet. I would give it a 0 egg but there has to be one.

Other Thoughts: If you get it make sure you have a small case to put it in and nothing more than Windows XP.

1 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for.. a rock.

Pros: Bought it for the expansion bay and the really good value.

Cons: Um everything? With only two really bad reviews I figured this card would MOST likely function in my rig. First off if your going to try this card (and if you do don't get your hopes up) installation is headache inducing. The internal firewire cable they supply to hook up the card to the front bay wasn't designed to go around a beefy PCI-E Gcard. Mine ended up a half an inch two short. So I unhooked the bay, went to boot up my rig and it wouldn't POST. I had to end up reseting my CMOS for the computer to boot, just to find out that windows detects it, however the driver package won't! Upon further net reseach I discoverd that this is a COMMON issue with XP. And as mentioned in another review, the tech support is horrible. I can't believe I wasted over an hour trying to get this thing installed for it not to even work!

Other Thoughts: My rig so you can compare if your thinking about buying this paper weight.
GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35
Intel Core Duo E6550
... and that is all that should matter.

3 out of 5 eggsNO WINDOWS 7 DRIVERS

Pros: It will archive my VHS tapes so I can burn them to DVD, that's all I bought it for.

Cons: No drivers for windows 7.

Other Thoughts: I made a bootable clone of Vista before I upgraded to 7 so I don't have to worry about compatibility issues like this.

3 out of 5 eggsPass

Pros: It has a front AV bay to plug in peripherals. The price was fair, around $35 with shipping.

Cons: Video quality. I was expecting the same quality I get on my TV's for this card. So far I ran my ps2 and VHS through it. PS2 image quality was very poor when compared to a tube television. There was a total lack of sharpness, definition and audio quality. VHS was a similar result.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this primarily to back up old VHS movies onto DVD. The software included with the unit is decent for the price. The driver were very poor, if not garbage. Instruction manual was a joke. I didn't realize that the audio needed to be patched from the back of the tuner card, into the back of the aux jack on my motherboard.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: It has front bay that can be external (inclued little sticky feet for it) $40, free shipping. a remote that works

Cons: does NOT work in win7 x64 (or XP mode for that matter) . Atleast it did not work for me.

The bay doesnt sit well in the computer as the far side moves while the otherside stay inplace. very small defaualt window. terrible pic quality from coaxal (although that could just be my VCR). the second cable (firewire mini i think) is very short compared to the IDE cable they use for internal use...but there is a second longer one for external use.

Other Thoughts: Not to bad. Could be better. has a very nice cable included list.

3 out of 5 eggsI hope it works....

Pros: Good ship time.

Cons: I didn't know this was a open box/returned item. Looks like it was returned, checked out, just thrown back in the box , and someone said "OK, good enought to go out". Remote is scratched up, and was bouncing around, during shipping, on the PC board. The PCI card was at least in bubble wrap. Still, I hope it all works!

Other Thoughts: If I would have know this was an open box item, I would have passed on it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks in Windows 7!!

Pros: WORKS IN WINDOWS 7! Great for archiving those old VHS tapes. Still works after nearly 5 years of use.

Cons: Will not work with win 7 media center since the card does not have a built-in MPEG encoder. Drivers have been removed from Kworld website but a Google search will find the old page since the files are still on their FTP server.

Other Thoughts: This is an update to my previous review 2 years ago. I gave this card to my brother 2 years ago after using it myself for over 2 years. I am upgrading his PC to win 7 and the XP drivers work GREAT. The included software may work but haven't tried it since I am using a Vista compatible 3rd party program (Ulead DVD Movie factory). Great card all around for features and price.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Drivers

Pros: None, worst TV card I have ever installed for a customer.

Cons: Drivers do not work with WinXPsp2. Even tried on a new install of XP without installing any other. drivers.
KWORLD support is horrible. Bad company.

Other Thoughts: Only Get this card if you want a headache.

3 out of 5 eggsIts a tv tuner I guess

Pros: I bought this more for use of a remote with media center, and that works good.

Cons: TV tuner technology hasn't advanced much in the last 10 years. I had a tv tuner in my pc 10 years ago and the quality was just as good. This is the second different tuner I have dealt with and neither have impressed me. I would never record a show with this to watch it later. As good of quality as a telesync.

Other Thoughts: If you want this for actually watching and recording tv get a DVR.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking reliably for over 2 years!

Pros: Recording using the S-Video input is what you would expect with included software but is EXCELLENT using VirtualDub (not included - just google it). The FireWire port is something not found on most PCI TV cards and allows capturing video from any DV camcorder with 1394 outputs. The icing on the cake is the breakout box itself, no more digging around the back of your PC to plug in sources! The package also includes a metal lid and rubber feet for external use of the breakout box if you lack an open 5 1/4" drive bay. All cables you will need are included.

Cons: K World removed the video ins from the breakout box. Video is fuzzy using the 75 Ohm or composite video inputs. Remote seems like an afterthought, button placement is odd and has an overall cheap 'clunky' feel. Included software will get the job done but there are better alternatives (some FREE!) that will take full advantage of this package and derive better quality results.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the first version of this product (same pci card & remote, K World has removed the RCA ins from breakout box in newer versions) over 2 years ago and it has worked flawlessly. I immediately ditched the remote and the included software for better commercial versions. Don't bother with the included drivers, get the latest from kworld to unlock all features. Would give this only 4 eggs but the solid reliablility of this product earns it an extra egg from me!
