4 out of 5 eggsWorks with MCE2005

Pros: Works well as second ATSC tuner under MCE2005.

Cons: A rebate was offered when I bought mine, but I never got it. That seems to be typical with other reviews I've seen of Kworld.

Other Thoughts: I bought this as a second HD tuner, since I was running out of PCI slots. I use it in conjunction with my ATI HDTV Wonder card. I'm running an older Athlon XP 2800+ with 1GB memory, Nvidia 6600 video card, and I'm able to record one HD program while recording/timeshifting another without any problem. However, I don't advise trying to do anything else on the machine while recording, it causes skipping on my machine.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Clear Picture, Very Nice software, Remote functions well (buttons feel nice, hard to mis-aim), More compact than it looks in the picture: Light weight and easy to travle with if you wanted to. Built in Audio Decoder, No needing to run a cord to the Sound card. Installation is easy. Audio and Video are in perfect sync

Cons: Remote is a mini travel remote. Because i use it on my desktop, i would prefer a Full Size remote, but when using on my laptop, it good to have. I guess it doesnt really matter.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have a fast computer. Dual core is recommended for timeshifting (as well as at least a 7200 RPM hard drive.. usually notebooks have 4200 or 5400 RPM and you will noteice some slowness when pausing and resuming and what not) A cheap dual core wont cut it either, Theres a lot the computer needs to process when timeshifting. Having a nice video card helps, My 7600GT has some nice clear video features that make the video appear much nicer than on my laptop Intel graphics (however the laptop still has very nice picture) The software runs a little slow, so you need to edit its setting and allow hardware acceleration for it to run smooth. MY old KWORLD card had horrible software, this new stuff is nice, However, at least 512MB of memory should be used.. To have it run smooth, use at least 1 Gig, I use 2 gigs and it runs very nicely. MY athlon 64 3200+ runs it nicely also.

2 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!!!

Pros: It looks somewhat cool/stylish/small.

Cons: Doesn't work. The company has a very poor customer service system and the product has no updated patches which means the company does not care if the product works or not. In my case, it does NOT WORK and they are no good at finding out solutions for me.

Other Thoughts: 2 USB ports? what is that? only one of the two seems to respond when plugged in. It does not come with an antenna. you have to get your own. If you value ure money, do not buy this. I've spent last 2 hours trying to get this to work but no progress has been made so far. A good product shouldn't give the customer such difficulties VERY POOR QUALITY

3 out of 5 eggsHDTV is decent, video input is poor

Pros: HDTV works good. I even got decent picture quality using an FM antenna. There arn't too many of these on the market, and if you lack PCI slots, this is pretty much your only choice, but it'll do.

Cons: video input is poor. I was looking for something to hook my PS2 up to my PC with, and figured might as well get HDTV while I was at it. While the HDTV was great, there was no way to view video content from the video inputs unless you were recording it, and even then, it's in a very, very small window, with no options for expanding to full screen. Because of this, I'll be returning this item, and probably go with something specifically for viewing video from an external input.

Other Thoughts: I was able to get VLC and Nero to use the video inputs correctly, but picture quality was not very good at all, which is pretty sad considering this thing is supposed to be used for viewing HDTV (which looks just fine).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Hybrid TV Tuner in the market!

Pros: I have used some TV Tuners in the past from Kworld and Hauppauge, but this Hybrid HDTV ATSC/NTSC TV Tuner does the work very well. The best thing about this TV tuner is that it can receive both analog (NTSC)transmission from Antenna/Cable and Digital (ATSC)channels from an ordinary antenna (Yes I used an ordinary one, plain and simple RCA Anetnna, not the special one made for HD receptions) exceptionally clear. Plus the TotalMedia 3 Software is also very easy to use n configure this device, if you know how to configure a software well. I have also used Intervideo Home Theatre for TV Tuning, but TM 3 is as good as any other DVR software in the market. I also recorded some videos/clips from both Analog n Digital channels, without any problem at all.

Cons: The downside is that TM 3 uses a lots of memory i.e 130-150MB. Plus there is no option like "Always on Top" and "Pinning" the TV window to your desktop in TM3 software. Though I don't need both of these options, b/c i watch TV on a separate monitor, but I think they are kinf of helpful for someone who watches TV (PnP) and also work on single desktop.

Sometimes when I shutdown my notebook and disconnect the USB device and then reconnect it again, it makes me to rescan all the channels again while losing its previous configuration, but then there are some workarounds for this problem like hibernation etc.

Other Thoughts: When running analog channels from Antenna/Cable, the device uses only 10-20% of your CPU. While running Digital channels the device consumes 40-50% of your CPU, probably because of the high resolution (1900 * 1088) of Digital transmission.

When running analog channels this device consumes 10-15 MB ytes of your Graphics Memory. When running Digital channels the device consumes 50-55MB of your Graphics Memory (again due to high definition of Digital transmission).

I installed this device with no serious problems at all on my notebook (Latitude) with WinXP Pro, Dual Core 1.6G Processor and 1GB of RAM.

1 out of 5 eggspoor suport

Pros: nice concept

Cons: 1.The insulation documentation did not cover the use of two USB connectors. There were two USB plugs attached to the unit. Unknown which should be used or if both should be plugged in. KWorld was not sure what the second plug was for!
2.Software instillation failed. The Software support is non existent from KWorld. I was directed to research through the internet to find ARCsoft support. Which they will gladly help You for $xx
3.I have returned the unit as a result poor support!!!!

Other Thoughts: NEWEGG WAS VERY POFESSIONAL HELPING DEAL WITH THIS.

5 out of 5 eggsNice product

Pros: Used a small indoor antenna to test it out and it receives all Digital and Analog channels no problem! Very fast channel changing (about one second) High def on my laptop is outstanding. No problems with the software. Installed smoothly.

Cons: Cant think of any.

Other Thoughts: Its a great product at a great price. Im using an AMD 3700 processor with an ati video card.

4 out of 5 eggsSensitive receiver, lousy software

Pros: I initially bought this because of the low price and the USB connection. I found it to be a very sensitive receiver--it can pull in analog channels my TV can't, and, for HDTV, is as good as or better than a stand-alone HDTV tuner.

Cons: Software is absolutely terrible. Recording didn't work half the time, and I had to re-scan for channels often.

Other Thoughts: You should probably factor into the purchase price buying BeyondTV software, which made the tuner work flawlessly, and has fantastic PVR functions, including a listing service. This makes the unit nearly twice as expensive, but because of the USB connection and sensitivity of the receiver, I'd say it's still a good buy even with the added cost.

5 out of 5 eggssatisfied customer

Pros: After scanning through channels, I can watch all my analog basic channels and can see some HDTV channels.

Cons: Not yet, still checking

Other Thoughts: I do not know why people have problems with this product but I do recommend having all your system updates and a good video card with plenty of memory.

1 out of 5 eggsJunk - don't buy

Pros: - Newegg is always great - great service, fast delivery!

As for Kworld ATSC 310U:
- The installation is straight forward.
- It sort of works for analog TV channels, some times.

Cons: - No HDTV channels. Only detected the analog channels.
- Extremely bad reception and video quality.
- Buggy software crashes from time -to-time.

Other Thoughts: Simple conclusion: Don't buy. Check-out Kworld's web site and you'll know this company is not a good one. Poor web site, poor product, poor support.
