You would expect one of the premiere video adapter manufacturers to make a great USB-to-VGA adapter, and with eVGA you would be right. The UV Plus has the ability to clone the main screen or extend the view in all directions. With the ability to add a total of 8 UV Pluses to your system you can have a screen area 9 times the size of your main monitor.
The UV Plus supports resolutions from 640x480 to 1680x1050/1600x1200 all with 32-bit color depth delivering the exceptional image quality you'd expect. The kit comes with everything you'll need including a retractable USB cable, a DVI-to-VGA adapter and a carry pouch to take it on the road with you.
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: - Works as advertised. - Smaller than expected. - Automatic setup in Windows 7.
Cons: - Doesn't fold my laundry for me.
Other Thoughts: I bought this hoping it would work under Windows 7 RTM and it does. Installation was handled entirely by Windows and I had to do very little to get it to install. Moving windows around is slightly choppy compared to my main screen but TBH you won't notice it after 5 minutes. Surfing and scrolling on web pages is close enough to the original not to notice.

Play a game of "Where's the Windows box?"
Reviewed By: neolefty on 9/22/2009

Pros: I do scientific programming for astronomy, so I run Linux on my main desktop. But from time to time, it's convenient to have Windows too. So I was running XP under VMware Player. But the VMware display was slowing down my machine and taking up display real estate.
I thought, hey, I've got this extra display (it's true), so I bought one of these adapters refurb, routed it to the virtual machine, installed XP drivers, switched XP to use only the USB display adapter and not the VMware-provided virtual display (also manually added a line to the VMware config file) and Voila! Virtual machine has physical display! It works marvelously.
The amazing thing is not that it works at all, but that it works *reliably*. No trouble at all. Boots up clean every time, and never loses integrity. Doesn't overheat. Big kudos to both VMware and DisplayLink.
Plus, now I have a game I can play with my colleagues. It's called, "Can you find the Windows box?"
Cons: That cheesy USB cable it comes with. It works, but if it ever breaks, I can replace it with a standard 4-to-6 cable anyway.
I can now watch Hulu on the Windows VM while I work, although not quite 16x12. Oops. Must exercise self-control.
Other Thoughts: Oh yeah, and I use Synergy to share keyboard and mouse with the Windows machine, instead of VMware's built-in support, which is totally confused by having this extra display that came from nowhere.

Pros: Great for running dual monitors on a laptop or system where you don't have or want to install a second video card.
Cons: none
Other Thoughts: Started a new job and didn't have dual monitors. I's the worst! Docking station supports it but needed dvi and vga, and company only had vga monitors. This puppy has made me hole again.

Works with Windows 7 Aero
Reviewed By: blakebart on 1/27/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: All the adapters I tried before the EVGA 16+ either didn't work at all on a Windows 7 machine (like the IOGear GUC2020DW6) or worked but Aero became disabled (like the SIIG JU-000071-S1). However, the EVGA 16+ worked like a champ, it runs a third monitor I use for monitoring a background process and it doesn't hose Aero so transparency, desktop peek and tab preview all work. I also found the IOGear GUC2020DW6 software was not compatible with my ATI video card (CCC complained that the new device driver is not compatible), so beware of that problem. The EVGA unit was compatible and works great in my system.
Cons: None, worked great from the start.
Other Thoughts: So many of these USB to DVI/VGA adapters, although from different vendors, contain the same chipset, same software, even the same user's manual, just different outer shell and packaging. They all claim Vista compatibility but beware that if one of them doesn't work on your system just getting another brand of adapter is not likely to solve your problem. As I found out it took several iterations to get the one that works correctly with W7 and allows full Aero functionality.

GR8 I love them
Reviewed By: Kevin on 1/24/2010
Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: I have 2 of them and im getting a third. I love them. With the new driver that just came out i can watch a full screen vlc with no problems. I have even had hulu open watching some streaming tv on one and a full screen vlc file playing on the other. I would recommend to any one who wants to get more real estate on the cheap or for a laptop as in my case.
Cons: Windows vista does not like to remember where they go after a while of using them. But it takes a min to align them but i am using 4 monitors on one laptop so i guess i can live with it.
Other Thoughts: With evga would come out with one that will do 1920x 1200 but oh 1600x1200 is close enough. Now i have read that you can us up to 6 on now system i cant say yay or nan but 2 works just gr8 i even ran both of them through the same hub and didnt real notice any lag or anything. EVGA and DISPLAY LINK for the win
