1 out of 5 eggsBlue Screen of DEATH

Pros: The graphic design of the box itself is nice.

Cons: The drivers are terrible, the customer service is clueless as they don't even write the drivers themselves.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY this even if you're an engineer like myself! The company tells you that if anything is wrong with installation you must have old drivers, which need updating. After the blue screen crash they were able to offer detailed instructions on getting back up, so how is that possible if nothing ever goes wrong. After several emails, they inform me that they don't actually write the drivers themselves, but that DisplayLink does. Look them up! Plenty of BLUE SCREEN issues which were obviously downplayed by the tech support from EVGA.

They offer an RMA for teh unit, and it seems some other customers have done that but experienced the same issues afterward.

UNLESS you are capable of writing your own software drivers, this purchase would be a great mistake.

5 out of 5 eggsLost for words

Pros: Slap this baby in and you get another monitor or desktop extension. Works, and works very well. Easy and simple. Love it! Do you get the impression that this is the coolest thing since sliced bread? Well it is. Buy it.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Going to have to order a handful of these things and see how many monitors I can add before wife throws me out of the house!

5 out of 5 eggsEVGA Rocks

Pros: IT WORKS PERFECTLY...For those who want gaming - get a clue - there is NO VID PROCESSOR in the box. How do you expect it to render anything that complex? This little wonger allowed me to get quad display on my laptop (23" touchscreen (running 1920x1080) and the laptop display (at 1366x768) were on the onboard card. The EVGA was pushing 23" touchscreen (running 1920x1080) and my projector (at 1280x1024)

Cons: non that can be corrected....Laptop only has 2 USB so I had to use one for the device and get a hub for the second.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this. I take it home and to the office just so I have all my monitors with me. I also take it on tech jobs in case needed. Its small enough...Y NOT?

4 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Cheaper than buying another computer. Small, Easy to install on Windows 7

Cons: A little Lag.

Other Thoughts: This works perfect for application uses. I wouldnt want to watch video or play games on it but if your IT guy at work buys new computers with out 2 video out's then you need something like this.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Pretty cool to have 3 monitors running from my laptop. It really helps with productivity at work.

Cons: The HDMI output is horrible. Every day I get in to the office and plug my laptop in, I have to fiddle with the HDMI cable. Push it up, then down, sometimes put something on top of it so it's being pushed up. I generally spend around 5 minutes each day doing this. I've been too lazy to send it back and I'm sure it's too late. I'm sure it is a one off and not all of these have bad HDMI connections.

Other Thoughts: It DOES disable the graphics card if installed. My laptop is running a GeForce discreet card and it becomes disabled when I plug in the EVGA adapter. So my monitor plugged into the HDMI on my LAPTOP (not the HDMI on the EVGA product) is being run off of the Intel 4600. Not a big deal because I don't game on this thing, but something to note for some...

3 out of 5 eggsNot magnetic

Pros: "cheapy" add additional monitors

Cons: base is not magnetic
only one of the two units were recognized by my laptop, although I didn't do any troubleshooting to try and find out why

Other Thoughts: would have been great if the base was magnified

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Cheap, USB3, no power cables, works with Surface pro docks. Plug and play easy with windows 8.1

Cons: Haven t found any yet, it is working exactly like I want it to.

Other Thoughts: Great tool. We have a large deployment of Surface 3 Pro tablets and the docks online support a single monitor. With this we can use the dock port for a 3rd or 4th monitor and this works perfectly with windows 8.1!

2 out of 5 eggsNo Display During Boot Process or BIOS Access

Pros: The driver did update & works with Windows 8.1.

Cons: There is NO graphics display during the boot-up process, so you can NOT enter BIOS or see any load process or OS messages. The display only activates at the desktop or at OS password entry. Since this is a USB device it is possible to have a basic VGA hard coded for the boot-up process too, but I can not find any that will do this too. So, you will ALSO need a standard graphics card or motherboad or CPU with graphics built-in to see the boot-up process, OS load messaging, or access to your BIOS.

Other Thoughts: I only gave 2 stars because it is omitted from the specs that there is no display during boot or for BIOS access.... see Cons above.

Otherwise, the display quality seemed good for desktop use... Not ideal for gaming or high intensity video/graphics use, but well suited for Internet or word processing or other desktop apps/software or adding more monitors.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Dean M,

I am very sorry for any confusion as the UV+39 unit is only designed to be used as a secondary display and not as a primary display. Due to the way this product works it will not show anything until Windows has completed loading the drivers for the product. Please do not hesitate to call our 24 hour technical support at 1-888-881-3842 option 1 or by email at Newegg@evga.com as we are here to assist you with any questions or concerns that you may have with our products.

Sincerely,
EVGA Customer Support

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Compatible with all my laptops, sharp and stable picture, works as intended.

Cons: see note

Other Thoughts: A bit laggy when things move very fast - might not be ideal for gaming, however not noticeable for productivity and watching videos. I was expecting this given that it's USB, and it performs flawlessly for this purpose, so I don't consider it a con.

4 out of 5 eggsWorkes well OOTB but doesnt deliver 2048x1152 as advertised

Pros: After having another brand/model USB display adapter blue screen and bork my OS I tried this model after reading good reviews on stability. This thing delivers...rock solid stable. I see no lag of any type with mouse movements or even video running @ 1920x1200 (havent tried gaming). It works well on all kinds of monitors (other than the one I describe below). Have not tested via HDMI.

Cons: Won't run 2048x1152 on my Yamakasi Catleap Q270 which I can run 2560x1440 with my PC graphics card.

Not sure if that's a driver issue or what, but when I try to run that res my monitor says "Not optimal resolution - recommended resolution is 1440x900" which makes no sense to me.

Tried messing with settings via the windows graphics properties manager as well as the DisplayLink manager but no difference. Maybe this will work on other high-res monitors like a Dell or HP at that resolution, but I wouldnt buy this if you're planning to try it on a no-name high-res monitor like mine.

Other Thoughts: Running this on a Dell E5430 via docking station USB 3.0
