Features

Add Two eSATA Ports to Your Computer

Are you planning to incorporate external data storage in your computer setup, but need a SATA host controller card to make the connection? Install a Tempo™ SATA E2P - it's an affordable solution for adding external SATA ports that enable you to hook up single and multi-bay SATA drive enclosures for your mass storage needs.

Expand Your Mass Storage

Install Tempo E2P into your Mac or PC desktop and gain the added advantage of two eSATA ports to add single and multi-bay SATA drive enclosures for your storage needs.

Supports Up to 10 Drives

SATA drive enclosures offer flexibility not found in fixed drive installations inside a computer. Many offer swappable drive trays, which are perfect for managing daily backups and multiple projects, and most are portable. Some enclosures feature port multipliers, which enable up to five hard drives to communicate with the host adapter through one cable. Not all host adapter cards support port multipliers, but Tempo SATA E2P does - through its two ports, this card can handle up to ten drives!

Tempo SATA E2P is versatile. It supports the RAID features of OS X and Windows. It also supports hot-swapping of drives under OS X. Installation is simple - just plug in the card to any available PCIe slot, start your computer, and install a driver. When you need to add flexible, portable storage to your setup, Tempo SATA E2P gets you connected.

5 out of 5 eggsIts an esata card, it does what you expect it to do

Pros: It is an ESATA card. I plugged it in, it works. My external hard drives run like internal hard drives.

Cons: There is a cd. You would think it was a driver disk. Instead its a pdf of a tiny manual. Rather bewildering but inconsequential.

Other Thoughts: If you need one, get this one.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Works with my mac pro running snow leopard. I got two of these to connect to some external JBOD enclosures (SANS DIGITAL TowerRAID TR4M-BNC -- I put a review there as well). Plugged it in, installed the driver. Done.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsFor $60, can't go wrong

Pros: *Price!
*Made Mac drives attached to this card hot-swappable
*Want to see if I can run 2 cards, for $120 4 esata connections & my storage would be set for a long while.

Cons: Doesn't want to work in bottom 2 PCI slots Mac Pro(??)

Esata cord comes out easy, users shouldn't mess around in back of towers often anyways.

Other Thoughts: Great easy to use esata card, and if you wanna make mac hot swappable this is your ticket.

Note: Not a raid card, only used for JBOD. Appears similar to 4 usb external drives all plugged in at once. Setup automated task to backup my drives once a day, better than trusting raid card IMO.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: Very easy to install. Plug card in. Install current driver off Sonnet website. Plug in device. Just as advertised.
Transferring data at about 4 gig/minute on a new Mac Pro running 10.6.5.
Hot-swap works perfect

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Will add this to other computers in the office

5 out of 5 eggsPlug it in and it works

Pros: Easy hardware install, download driver, connect to Thermaltake external drive docking station, everything works great, including hot swap.

Cons: None in my experience.

Other Thoughts: Using with '06 Mac Pro running Snow Leopard. Not sure if Sonnet lists '06 as compatible, but works with mine. Thermaltake dock came with Esata cable, so no need to purchase separately.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None

Cons: This card advertises Windows 7 compatibility and it might be.... except there are no drivers.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None that I can tell.

Cons: Worked for about a week and then started causing kernel panics. Mac Pro does not seem to want to recognize this sucker no matter what driver I install and kernel panic city.

5 out of 5 eggs64-bit Snow Leopard in latest drivers

Pros: Easy to install and works as advertised in a 2007 Mac Pro 1,1 running Snow Leopard 10.6.3. Shut down, install card, start up, download (see below) and install driver, reboot, done—not even 10 minutes start to finish, and supports hot-plugging and ejecting devices. Using with a Cavalry 1TB eSATA/USB hard drive from NewEgg for Time Machine backups and it works great.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Don't use the included driver CD; instead, after installing the card in the case, download the latest driver from the SoNNeT website (manufacturer website on the product page -> support -> computer cards -> PCIe cards -> Tempo SATA E2P -> drivers; make sure to get the right one for your version of OS X, the 10.5+ driver is the first one listed) and install that. The latest version of the driver (released just this month) includes full 64-bit kernel support for Snow Leopard. My machine uses the 32-bit kernel and runs apps in 64-bit, so I can't personally confirm this, but there were no problems in installing either the card or the driver on my system.

3 out of 5 eggsNo 64-bit support in Snow Leopard

Pros: Works in 32-bit kernel.

Cons: Useless in 64-bit kernel and Sonnet refuses to update the drivers. I chose to boot my Mac Pro into the 64-bit kernel so now this card is a paperweight.
