The new PCI Express x1 interface, which will eventually replace PCI, effectively quadruples the amount of available computing bandwidth, resulting in faster music downloads, smoother streaming video and lightning-fast access to mass-storage devices.
The Belkin FireWire 3-Port PCI Express Card offers the perfect solution for users who want to add FireWire ports to their computers. The card takes advantage of the additional bandwidth and features provided by the new PCI Express I/O standard. Now you can download multiple large files and transfer documents to your hard drive all at the same time-without worrying that your computer will freeze, crash, or slow to a crawl.
Future-proof your computer with technology so advanced that it exceeds the processing-speed capability of many devices currently on the market. Installing the PCI Express Card now will give you device-upgrade expansion room for many years to come.
Pros: It installed automatically on a system with Windows XP Professional. I am using it for a Western Digital external hard drive and all is well.
Cons: On my first boot after installation, by speakers started making a loud buzz and my computer locked up. I did a hard shutdown and rebooted the system back into normal mode. On the second bootup it all worked fine. Very strange, but no harm done.
Other Thoughts: I have used a few Belkin FireWire cards and I've always been pleased with the products.
