1 out of 5 eggsToo bad, so sad

Pros: Theoretically, I could be writing/reading video to my 1TB MyBook right now at blazing speeds, which would really be cool.

Cons: I was stupid and didn't buy it through newegg (so I didn't see the warnings it doesn't work with vista64). Yay.

If you have 64-bit Vista, don't buy this. It won't do you any good.

Other Thoughts: As others have said, it makes no sense why Belkin doesn't support drivers for 64-bit systems. This is a cutting edge card that won't work on cutting edge systems. Very frustrating.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Cards, but......

Pros: I have 2 of these in 2 different systems. In Linux, they're great. Never had a problem yet. PCI-E interface makes me happy.

Cons: These work most of the time in XP Pro, but I find the drivers flaky. I can't seem to find any Belkin drivers that have passed Windows logo certification, and I see why they have not. I get BSOD once in a while while using these cards in Windows.

Other Thoughts: I think the card is a great piece of hardware, now, Belkin needs to write equally good drivers. Recomend this? For Linux yes, for Windows, only if you are desperate.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA, So Disappointed

Pros: Can't find any, 'cause it doesn't work

Cons: Doesn't work...at all!

Other Thoughts: Bought because of the trusted Belkin name. Plugged it into a Supermicro MB's PCI-E slot (slots work with other PCI-E card)....PC wouldn't even boot as far as the BIOS setup. Call Belkin, and go thru whole process...still nothing. Remove card & PC works great--except no Firewire 800. Maybe I just got a bad one, but am now just beyond return (bought elsewhere)/ warranty terms (that'll teach me), so I'm just out the $$$. Pity.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work with Vista-64

Pros: None

Cons: No support for Vista-64, and none planned according to Belkin support

Other Thoughts: You'd think a company as large as Belkin would have a Vista-64 driver for a PCIe card. I was rather annoyed when their tech support told me they don't have one planned. If this was an old product I could understand, but Firewire-800 and PCIe - those are very current standards.

5 out of 5 eggsI have 2, both are great!

Pros: PCI-Ex1, perfect for my TForce 550 motherboard. 1394b and USB together, external power connector to keep things running.

Cons: Only that the internal USB and Firewire ports are not motherboard headers. They are standard connectors, like on the back of your motherboard. I/O panel.

Other Thoughts: I am using this in Suse 10.2 and Ubuntu 6.10/7.04! Works great. Modprobe and it in.

1 out of 5 eggsGood downgrade card

Pros: Another good sample that makes me know more about Belkin.

Cons: The Firewire 400 port on my Intel BOXD975XBX2KR mainboard can write data at about 25MB/Sec to WD MyBook Pro 500GB. I expected the card will give me 30+ MB/Sec or even faster wirting speed. However, the Firewire 800 port on this card is even slower than the Firewire 400. Its USB2 port can only write data at about 11MB/Sec, compare to average 17MB/Sec on most other USB2 port. What a garbage! I did my test in Windows Vista. It wasted my time and money.

Other Thoughts: I have ever tried a Belkin wireless G router, the port forwarding feature didn't work at all. I think I will never buy any Belkin product.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: This card has an internal USB Port and an internal 1394b Port, NOT headers. Just be sure that is what you need, I had adaptors already! You must know how to assemble computers, there are no instructions.

Cons: No instructions. There is a header on the card, who knows what it is for. Looks like USB but not wired the same.....

Other Thoughts: Pretty spendy but it had the PCI x1 interface I needed as well as the USB and 1394b hookups on one card.

5 out of 5 eggsGoos Stuff

Pros: Works like a charm. Installation was straight forward and easy. I used it to connect a Maxtor OneTouch III external hard drive via FireWire 800.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Used it on an ASUS P5WDG2 WS Professional mobo.
