5 out of 5 eggsOne small glitch while installing in Win10x64, otherwise just fine.

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: 4 USB3 ports, they all work, the requirement of external power to the card should help ensure maximum reliability with the various USB devices in the field.

Cons: You'll need a molex-to-SATA power cord, or a SATA Y-connector to add the additional SATA power cord.

Other Thoughts: Working fine in a 5-10 yr old HP A6512n desktop, with Windows 10 Threshold 1 x64, that I upgraded with a Samsung EVO 500gb SSD. One glitch was that the xHCI controller in Device Manager had a "Code 10 cannot start" error and the ports didn't work. I deleted the Generic USB Hub(s), powered down, the restarted and the problem had cleared. If running Windows 10, you don't need the driver in the included CD nor the one on their website.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well, inconvenient to install

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: Well it works well, driver installs normally, and Windows 10 got it automatically no problem. USB speeds is as expected.

Cons: Routing the power cable is somewhat annoying and was just difficult to route, obviously not a big deal, but annoying still.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well With Windows 10

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: No driver installation necessary with Windows 10. After installing the hardware on my computer, I was reading over the driver installation instructions and noticed that it shouldn't need driver installation with Windows 8. Given that 10 follows 8... I moved some of my USB peripherals over to the card, and it was as simple as that.

Cons: No cons at this point. Given that I've had it installed for about 10 minutes, I'll come back with any negative feedback should I run into problems.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great if you know what you are doing

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: This is a simple USB 3.0 card... if you want more USB 3.0 slots then this card is a deal for multiple inputs.

As a note: you will need to connect the power connector to this card to get it working because it draws juice to run. After that don't forget the drivers.

Once you do that - it works. Pretty simple. Good for the money.

Cons: None really - know what you are buying... needs a power connector and drivers. So far so good and running well.

5 out of 5 eggsPower connector needed

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: A lot.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: In my previous review I forgot to mention that this card requires power from a typical SATA power connector. I just happened to have a 4-pin Molex tp SATA power adapter (since my PSU had one 4-pin Molex power plug free to use), so I hooked it up and it worked with no problems. See my previous review. The USB spec states that a USB port uses 5 Volts at up to 0.5 Amp so this card could possibly draw 10 Watts (fully loaded) from the motherboard if you didn't use the external power hookup.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent device

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: Quality-looking card. It installed easily into a PCI x16 slot. Worked immediately in Win 8.1 x64. I installed the drivers from the included CD-ROM disc and checked Device Manager for the Renesas USB 3.0 controllers (2) and they looked good. I recommend this product if you need more USB ports as did I.

Cons: None.

Pros: Have no issues with it. Does what its suppose to but you have to manually update the drivers as the installation disc is an older version. So far so good!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected and hoped for.

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: Not expensive, 4 USB3 ports. No problems so far.

Cons: Nada

Other Thoughts: After install, Win7 downloaded drivers and device was enabled and everything looked good to go. I downloaded drivers from Sunix website anyway just to be safe. So altogether, the install was simple and problem free. I have not done any speed tests.

4 out of 5 eggsNeeds power from computer P/S

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: 4 USB 3.0 ports - you can never have enough USB ports

Cons: Some USB devices which automatically power themselves off when they can't detect that the computer is on won't work unless you connect the card to a SATA power cable.

Other Thoughts: When I first tried to use an external hard drive (self powered) it didn't work. I then plugged the drive into a USB 2.0 adapter and it came right on. I was able to get my Ext hard drive to work using this USB 3.0 adapter only after I connected a power cable to the USB 3.0 adapter card.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked right out of the box

This review is from: SUNIX USB3.0 4-port PCI Express Host Controller with SATA Power Connector Model USB4300NS

Pros: All 4 ports work, haven't tested power draw but just needed extra ports for webcam etc.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I downloaded the latest drivers off the Sunix website to be safe, didn't test functionality before that but windows indicated drivers installed fine.
