1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Has a remote

Cons: I installed it with no trouble as it is nothing but card insertion in a pc slot. I downloaded the software it worked somewhat for almost a day then began freezing up,dropping channels so I deleted the program and reinstalled several times, checked for updated drivers and software updates which they charge $9.95 for Win * version and still it will not run right. I have Windows 7 Pro and did not update. Check other reviews. Good Luck..

Other Thoughts: When setting up one of my other computers with XP on it I will try the card in it. Hopefully it will work in it. Probably wishful thinking.

5 out of 5 eggsComputer Time

Pros: Easy Hook up. I have 1 LCD and 1 LED TV but find myself on my computer more so having it to view television when doing whatever while on the computer for me is quiet cool. Software down load and hook up are easy and this functions as listed and recording shows is a snap. It was a better choice in my purchasing of that which I will use.

Cons: I can think of none. Possibly to cost less but otherwise I really cannot write anything negative on this product.

Other Thoughts: My other thoughts are why I did not do this sooner.

5 out of 5 eggsI'm impressed

Pros: Download the latest installation package from Hauppauge's website and you shouldn't have any problems in Windows 7. Both the drivers and Win8 software installed flawlessly. The picture quality is very good, as is the video capture quality when using the highest quality setting.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Out of the package, installed, up and running in about 20 minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsworks well, now I have a home made DVR!

Pros: Tuner is more sensitive than my TV's. Has handy signal strength function (using with Windows 7 Pro's built in Media Center). The included remote integrated with Media Center too, I think I had to download some utility from Hauppage to do that. And another remote I bought since the included one is so tiny, works fine (HAUPPAUGE A415-HPG)

Cons: The DVR software with the tuner crashed, etc. But Windows Media Center has worked quite well.

Other Thoughts: I'm using on a 7 year old Dell Dimension E520 and the recordings are very good in 1080p, but it could not play back without jerky video unless I set my tv output resolution down to 720, which still looks good. At 720 it works smooth, and a lot of tv shows are broadcast at 720. I did buy a $40 antenna, but now I get all the major broadcast stations and PBS fine, and I use HuluPlus for the shows we used to watch on cable. My cable bill went from 140 to 60 for high speed internet only and then $8 for Hulu Plus. Oh, kinda wished I had gotten the two tuner model now. And I bought a larger remote that works with the tuner too, a HAUPPAUGE A415-HPG for $5 on E-b-a_y.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy installation. works well. easy to understand instructions. allows me to watch tv from my computer so thats cool.

Cons: software can be a little tricky to understand. they use industry lingo for the different encoding, and I understand why they use them but can be confusing for most consumers.

Other Thoughts: well designed card and appears to work really well once set up.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good picture quality.

Cons: I have used this card on three machines with similar results of receiving frequent low bit rate errors when using it as satellite dvr. I suspect a driver issue, because a lot of time, I need to install them in safe mode to eliminate hiccups.

4 out of 5 eggsbad solder joints

Pros: Fit in my case
Once I repaired the issue the card had, it worked perfectly

Cons: I have really shaky hands for soldering ICs back onto PCIe cards.

Other Thoughts: When the card got here it would NOT recognize under Windows. I looked inside my case and saw a small IC sitting on the bottom of the case as if it'd come unsoldered from something. Lo and behold, it had come unsoldered from this card.

Yeah, I should have RMA'd it, but I'm handy with a soldering iron. I do not, however, have very steady hands when it comes to soldering in small areas. Took me a couple tries to get all 8 pins soldered down properly.

Card works perfectly now.

4 out of 5 eggsHVR-1265/1250?????????????

Pros: The TV tuner card is not works.

Cons: This company is a JOKE, right? The Hauppauge sales rep told me they packaged the WinTV HVR-1265 tuner card in boxes that are labelled WinTV HVR-1250 because they don't want to reprint the old boxes with the new model. Oh confusion there!!! The Newegg rep couldn't explain to me why the model on the box doesn't match the actual product.

5 out of 5 eggsAs Seen-on-TV

Pros: I stated i would have to get another card for my wife and so i did.
This is a truly excellent card and so very easy to install and setup. I card is Top-Shelf and i just know my wife will enjoy it as she is on the PC doing her bills and other things.
This shows a different remote control that looks cheaper than the one received. I cannot state that is the one you will receive if you purchase this Puppy, but the one received is a Excellent part.

Cons: None i can think of except it does not offer thought control channel changing.

Other Thoughts: Did not come with a pizza and 6 pack.
