5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: From the time I have had this card in my system it has worked like a charm. Installation was quick and easy both, physically and driver / system wise. Operates great in Windows as well as Linux.

Cons: I have nothing to complain about.

5 out of 5 eggsAnother Hauppauge Great

Pros: Fast Install,Works

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought this for the living room laptop after I owned a pci tuner by haupauge for my desktop, These things work great and turn your pc into a DVR , I'm not a fan od the Win tv program that comes with it so I just installed drivers for the remote and the tuner and use windows media center .

2 out of 5 eggsTroubles!

Pros: When it works, it works good! Nice resolution etc.

Cons: When opening the program, many times cannot find a channel. Have to close program, unplugged the power and plug it back in. Start the program again to see if it works. May require redoing the same procedure more than once. Very slow at switching channels and sometimes may freeze. Must use "Task Manager" to close the program and start all over.

Other Thoughts: Have emailed their Support 5 different times and have NOT received ONE single response!!

3 out of 5 eggsIt's a shame....

Pros: Watch and record tv. Listen to FM radio.
Record composite video to your computer in .mpeg format.

Cons: Barely lasted two years.

Other Thoughts: This is the 2nd Hauppauge USB device I have been through. Both lasted around two years, then crapped out. This is a really great device, but it's longevity should be questioned.
Too bad it's one of the better devices out there, as far as options go at least...

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Easy install on Win 7. Very little CPU usage with Windows media center.

Cons: Video quality is very poor compared to PCTV 801e. All video from this device appears compressed. HD doesn’t appear in HD quality artifacts all over.

Other Thoughts: I would not buy it again.

3 out of 5 eggsLow Qual Video

Pros: Composite and SVideo inputs, FM Radio, Digital TV, External antennas for FM and TV, Copying VHS tapes over to the PC works well once you figure it out. Works on Windows 7 64bit. TV and DVR works great. FM tuner works great.

Cons: Composite video is very grainy and slow interlaced. If you're trying to copy VHS over to your system. Not shielded well from outside interference. Keep away from Routers, Cordless phones, cell phonse or anything else putting out a signal, otherwise you'll see the interference on the display. Have to turn off the prerecording if you want to use the composite inputs to plug an older condole into it aka Wii. Still the picture quality is very weak. No HD Radio.

Other Thoughts: Still need a fast PC if you want to convert the videos in to AVI, Divx, MP4, or somethign other than mpeg2 (DVD format). Upgrade the software often. The latest upgrades fixed some issues I was having. No AM radio, but does anyone listen to that still?

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy

Pros: Can't think of any pros at this time after using for a year.

Cons: Buggy software, even the updated versions. IR Blaster not compatible with Windows Media Center, even though it's advertised as such and contains a MCE remote. Basically, if you are like most people and use a set top box (STB) don't buy this device as it's support is very limited. I have not tested with an antenna, as I have cable. $130 for limited OTA channels or basic cable is a complete waste.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking to integrate TV into your MCE experience, move on as this device will require you to buy ANOTHER IR Blaster as the one on the device is not compatible with MCE.

2 out of 5 eggsWeak, Slow Tuner

Pros: Builtin IR Blaster
Works with mythbuntu

Cons: Channel changes are slow.
A low dollar RCA tuner from Walmart consistently pulls in weaker OTA signals.
Does not recover quickly when minor signal dropouts occur.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this device to anyone trying to receive OTA signals and is more than 20 miles from the transmitting tower. I switched to a competitor's device and found that it excels at everything the 1950 struggled with. I guess you could call the competitor's device a (hint) "homerun" when it came to meeting my expectations.

1 out of 5 eggsThis box is worthless!!!!

Pros: None

Cons: The box does not work with Windows XP Pro. Many hours were spent trying to get the drivers installed correctly. and I finally threw in the towel. I do not usually write negative reviews, but this box demanded some feedback.

Other Thoughts: Hauppauge has really lost it.
