Your computer is already pretty versatile, handling your webcam, sound, email, online videos and DVDs, and doing traditional computer things like graphics and word processing. What else could a person want?
Well, you just might want to watch the news or maybe listen to a little radio. They still exist, you know. This dual tuner card from Hauppauge lets you watch and record two different TV channels, and it doesn't matter if they're digital or analog. Got enough on your mind, but you are tired of setting your MP3 player on "random"? It's also an FM tuner, so you can receive your favorite FM stations. ATSC, NTSC and ClearQAM (that is, unencrypted QAM) gives you maximum flexibility in your TV viewing without fear of obsolescence.
Whether you have to spend a lot of time on your computer or you enjoy spending a lot of time on your computer, this card makes it easier to catch your favorite programs and still get something done. Shop and compare, that's what we're here for. Once you've made up your mind, we'll be waiting right here.

Pros: This card works great, especially once you get the beta clear qam plugin installed and perform a registry workaround allowing ntsc and clear qam on the same tuner. It's actually quite simple once you complete it.
Cons: I wish WinTV was better software or VMC had more qam support but that isn't the card's fault.
Other Thoughts: To find the beta clear qam plugin google "hauppauge clearqam plugin" and the first result will give you the download with instructions. To find the workaround to allow simultaneous clear qam and ntsc signal through your cable google "vista kram hybrid tuner" and on the first result their will be instructions on how to enable this feature. Install the plugin, complete the workaround and then use the plugin to scan for clear qam channels. I hope this helps everyone.

Pros: This is one of the first card to offer dual tuners that support NTSC/ATSC/QAM on each tuner, with only a single connection. This single connection does create som caveats though. (See below.) I'll repost once I've put the card through it's paces. Dual MPEG2 Hardware accelerated controllers for SD content. All in a single PCIe card.
Cons: Many people see a single connection as a con, and it is in a way. If you are putting cable into this card, you are restricting yourself to only NTSC/QAM, as ATSC requires an antenna, and another connection. (in this scenario.) Also, each tuner can only be configured for one type of usage in Vista Media Center, but that is a software problem not a hardware problem.
Other Thoughts: I won't know more until I test over the next few days, but I'm going to try this card with Comcast Cable in Atlanta, GA and I'll see what I get. I'll be using it on a system with Vista Home Premium x64 (with the TV Pack) to see what happens.

Cons: after finding out that its very picky how its seated on the mobo, the htpc case seemed to have issue or maybe my older mobo, but I had to bend the bracket and put a shim to keep it in its natural position when tightening the card...
also found a nut that would fit the coax and IMO should have been on this tunner card and others to give more stiffness/support to the bracket... so that the card doesn't move that much when you have a coaxial cable connected
was disappointed that this does not have there basic software? I guess previous OEM cards from the manu did have it... its a shame really but windows 7 media player works great so fare
Other Thoughts: how do you get picture in picture? in windows 7? cant figure it out... and not sure how to switch between the tunners :/
the card works good picking up all channels and more then what tvfool is listing, with home built antenna :) (4 bay 9" element bow tie) preamp helped with the lower channels esp the (7.1,7.2) had 1 or 2 signal only, without preamp now have about 3 or 4 with preamp

Pros: Finally ordered my second dual tuner for my HTPC. Up to 5 tuners. Will see if Media center craps out with 5 tuners. (Two Dual PCIe, 1 USB). Its been working great married with AMD Quad Core x945.
Cons: Nothing really. The only cons are out of my control and its mostly the signal from my provider.

Better than Expected

Pros: With Win 7 Ultimate Media Center, I not only get all the basic cable channels, but I get 17 QAM digital (generally HD) channels... ALL FOR FREE! And with dual tuners, I can record two shows at a time. Media Center seems to love it. Works flawlessly so far! HD looks great. I ditched cable altogether and am not looking back. I stream this to my TV via my XBox 360 and it simply rocks. Why didn't I do this earlier???
Cons: None as of yet, though I hear that some of the features are limited with Windows Vista.
Other Thoughts: Ignore the reviews that say "it doesn't have dual tuners, one jack is for FM". These people don't know what they're talking about. The one Cable plug is internally split so one line gives you dual cable tuning.

Composite/S-Video and audio inputs, for cable or satellite set top boxes or VCRs.
Technically speaking: - WinTV-HVR-2250 is a PCI Express X1 board based on the NXP 7164 bus interface chip. The WinTV-HVR-2250 contains two tuners with a built-in TV splitter. There is one cable TV or TV antenna connector which is split, providing a video source for both tuners. For ATSC and QAM digital TV, all 18 ATSC formats including 1080i can be watched or recorded to disk as a MPEG-2 Program Stream. The NXP 7164 contains two highly integrated MPEG-1/2 hardware encoders for recording analog cable TV to disk. The playback of the recorded ATSC and QAM digital TV and MPEG-2 encoded analog programs are done through a software MPEG-2 player. - WinTV-HVR-2250 now supports an on-board IR receiver and blaster, which can control up to two external set top boxes. With the on-board remote receiver/blaster, you no longer need the external "beanbag" remote receiver. The on-board receiver also has a "learn" mode, so you can use almost any external set top box. (The IR receiver/blaster is not included)
