3 out of 5 eggsMissing Serial Number

Pros: -- Small and easily setup. Works even in Windows 8.1.
-- Software on the Manufacturer site is up to date and is fairly easy to find.
-- With enough horse power it produces a nice experience.

Cons: -- Complete software doesn't install unless you have the serial number
-- One processor is not enough horse power to make this work (Has sat next to my PC for like 4 years because my old machine couldn't run it.)
-- Tries to nickle and dime you for services to be turned on

Other Thoughts: If you have Windows Media Center and don't have the serial number, just use the TV Center software to install the plugin for Windows Media Center. I was all ready to go buy a new device for my new system and tried this to see if it worked and after I bypassed the Pinnacle TV Center setup and used WMC, it was all good. Saved me $50.

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: -USB interface.
-Mini antenna with good reception.
-Very good portability overall.

Cons: -The software is not as user friendly as some other ones i've seen
-channel switching is or radio switching takes a few second.

Other Thoughts: I installed this on my Acer Iconia W700, a Windows 8 Tablet PC, and it works as I have hoped. Now my tablet doubles as a super portable TV, not to mention the image looks amazing on the 11" 1080p IPS screen.

As another reviewer pointed out, the tuner does run hot after awhile.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with Ubuntu 12.04 & Kaffeine

Pros: JUst a quick note to confirm that the device works just fine for broadcast TV - on an out-of-the-box basis - with Ubuntu 12.04 (Kernel 3.2.0-29-generic) and the Kaffeine media player. I was able to confirm this prior to ordering the device but did have to dig around a bit on the web to do so, so I figured I'd post this note to save people some time.

Cons: As noted by others, the device runs hot. As the device is new, I can't say if this is a problem.

Other Thoughts: I like the well-made included mini anetenna. Using this antenna, the device picked up a large number of NYC metro-area stations, but did not get Channel 21, loctaed approx. 28 miles to the east. I have not yet tried to scan channels when connected to my rooftop antenna.

1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy for ClearQAM via Windows Media Center

Pros: Might work well with a laptop for travel, using software it comes with, although wasn't impressed with the software. Was able to get analog/clearQAM to work side-by-side with the software. Should also work fine for analog cable -OR- ATSC with Windows Media Center (not both).

Cons: Was hoping to do analog AND ClearQAM cable via Windows Media Center with this. My fault for not researching enough, but should be more clear about what will and won't work with WMC.

THIS WILL NOT DO ClearQAM with Windows Media Center. Period. Alone or with analog cable. It doesn't matter which version of Windows you're on. There is a section in the manual for installing drivers for WMC, but don't recall seeing that it wouldn't support clearQAM. However, per pctvsystems web site:

Compatible with Windows® Media Center*

*For analog TV and digital over-the-air (ATSC) TV.

Also found a similar review, unfortunately after I had already purchased.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking to do analog/clearQAM cable via Windows Media Center, get something else.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor job

Pros: Can't think of anything I like about this thing.

Cons: Works intermittently, mostly not.

Very poorly implemented for what we should have in 2012.

Other Thoughts: What I want is to turn my computer into a set top box, or better yet DVR. I don't what a list of meaningless "channels", and I don't want to have to go to a third party TV listing and try to connect to it to get my TV. I have FIOS cable already, I DO NOT NEED a TV GUIDE, especially one that doesn't work.

I don't really see what the big deal is here; my computer is so much more powerful in every way than a set top box, you think I'd just be able to start the software for the device and see my programs just like I do on my set tops in the other room, but no, they have to pretend like it's 1980 and such things just haven't been figured out yet.

1 out of 5 eggsSoftware poorly written

Pros: Nice neat little USB stick design, portable

Cons: Software poorly written; Up/Down channel selectors mis-labeled; Unhandled exception occured testing mute function

Other Thoughts: Testing mute function caused an unhandled exception, causing the app to crash. App restarted, then unhandled exception, repeat, repeat. Unable to get app up and running to remove mute to see if it would then run. Poorly written software, looks like it was rushed. I write software for a living, I would never release something like this.

5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Works great on the laptop when I have some time to watch news in HD.
Supplied antenna could be better. I attached it to a real hd antenna and the little thing works AWESOME ! Although you can't carry a big one around like that. I hear you can buy a fold up antenna that performs better.

Cons: antenna

Other Thoughts: Overall I am impressed !! I have downloaded newer drivers and software package twice and each time it improves. Congrats Hauppauge on a Great product !

5 out of 5 eggsOh Yeah!

Pros: Quickly recognized by Windows 7 Ultimate. Easy to set up TV. Includes CD with program features, and TV emulator sort of thing. WMC is sufficient enough thought. Movable antenna is certainly a good included device. Or you can use your own antenna.

Cons: Antenna included is small and short in length. But still grabs good signal.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't work-created to identical half screens

Pros: Elegant design

Cons: Spent hours trying. Didn't work on XP SP3 machine. Screen split into two identical views. These views showed only the first half of a normal sized screen. The PCTV software didn't do well either. Locked up my computer multiple times. I went so far as to reload windows on my computer to start from scratch.
Based on other reviews, the thing must simply be broke. Not recommended.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well with FIOS

Pros: Very simple to install and use as well as ultra portable. Works well with FIOS and Win7-64. Download the latest version of the drivers and latest TV Center Pro from Pinnacle (the licensing key works w/o a problem)

Cons: In my area FIOS transmits the OTA HDTV channels which this picks up perfectly. If you want to receive the regular FIOS channels you need to use their digitial decoder which means you can't easily change channels if you are streaming.

Other Thoughts: I use this and a WebOS program from Kalemsoft to stream to my Touchpad when I am at the Y during my son's TKD classes. I haven't missed a Hockey game since - They usually play on same night I am away from home and a TV
