3 out of 5 eggsBad NTSC reception

Pros: Works well with Media Center after I downloaded updated drivers. ATSC and ClearQAM worked fairly well.

Cons: ATSC and ClearQAM were a bit fuzzy compared to the Kworld tuner I bought for 25 bucks... so that was disappointing. NTSC was unwatchable due to flickering and horizontal waves in the picture. I tried another tuner and also a TV and the NTSC came in fine off the same connection. Really a shame because I like the way this tuner looks.

Other Thoughts: RMA'd this due to ATSC and ClearQAM fuzziness and wavy NTSC. Going to try the AVerMedia usb tuner instead.

5 out of 5 eggsperferct for QAM under MythBuntu

Pros: I had only a single purpose for this - I needed a qam-compatible usb2 tuner for my mythbuntu box. Plugged it in, it got the firmware, added it to

Cons: too soon to tell

Other Thoughts: no analog support under myth at this time, but I didn't need that anyway

5 out of 5 eggsAs it should be

Pros: No issuues - easy install (once I learned how to use WMC) - I have it on Win7-64. Getting ClearQAM and analog cable on the wire.

Cons: None - limitations are documented on the reviews

Other Thoughts: It is USB using WMC - so it takes a good chunk of my E6300 when running - but it does work well.

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The hardware receives digital tv great as well as radio stations. Going to try Windows Media Center for recording tv signals.

Cons: First of all, if you have Win7, 64bit, the software will not work, even with the version 5.4 update.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had spent a little more for a Win7 64bit compatible product.

4 out of 5 eggsFunctions well WinXP/Athlon 2800

Pros: Easy to setup, can tune QAM (HD) stations from analog cable installation without a set-top box.

Cons: Software requires ample processing power to watch and even more to record because the viewer remains ON while recording.

Other Thoughts: I purchased the "stick" to record HD and watch on same PC. The accompanying software is too demanding for my under-powered 2800. I tested several other options: Cyberlink's Power Director 7, which recognized the device, but crashed during channel scan; GBPVR (free), which did not support the device; and MediaPortal (free), which is performing quite nicely. MediaPortal installs its recording functions as a priority-adjustable service, which performs recording functions in the background. However, MediaPortal is Open Source software, which many times, as in this case, requires patience and tinkering skills.

5 out of 5 eggsAddition to my previous review

Pros: I am going to repeat as this was meant to be an addition to my previous review below.

- Portable, comes with a small antenna
- The hardware works as expected
- Works well with Windows Media Center (XP, Vista, Windows 7)

Cons: The bundled software is not compatible with Windows 7. But how needs a bundled software when the hardware can work with Media Center?

Other Thoughts: The included antenna is fine, but how well it serves YOU depends on where you live more precisely how far you are from a TV tower and how much obstructing structures there is between you and the TV tower, so, please don't base your rating about THE TUNER on the antenna itself. It works flawlessly in Central Park (open area) 2 miles (very close) from the TV tower at the Empire State Building. Picks up most of the channel in my apartment that is surrounded by skyscrapers, a great job for this size antenna.

5 out of 5 eggsLoving It

Pros: Works as expected.
Works great with Windows Media Center
Comes with a small antenna for use with a laptop

Cons: The bundled software for watching and recording isn't compatible with Windows 7. No biggie, I use Windows Media Center.

Other Thoughts: I got a PCTV HD Pro Stick back in 2006 before Hauppauge took over the tuner division of Pinnacle and when the only mean to get free HD was through an over the air antenna (no digital cable / QAM yet). I have been using this tuner through XP, Vista x64, and now Windows 7 x64, and it is still working great!

5 out of 5 eggsNeat little product that works on my laptop

Pros: -Works extremely well on Vista
-Pretty good reception with the enclosed antenna
-Easy installation process
-The enclosed software works very well
-I have an older laptop that "pushes" the limits on this unit. Although I am below the recommended requirements, IT STILL WORKS GREAT!

Cons: -Remote control is goofy and not that accurate. It seems that I have to mash the buttons for any response. The range is decent, but it seems quicker to change channels via the mouse.

Other Thoughts: I would buy this again and I am very pleased with it!

2 out of 5 eggsSlow / Buggy

Pros: Digital / Analog / FM tuners all in one. Standard Coax interface, along with S-Video, Composite RCA and .125" audio input.

Cons: Buggy under Windows 7. Software crashes upon startup. This device does NOT do any hardware decoding, my 3Ghz dualcore is unusable while watching standard definition television signals.

Other Thoughts: Hauppage doesn't really support this product as it was made before they actually bought Pinnacle's TV tuner line. I would buy one of their newer units perhaps, or something from another company. This is probably the worst product I have received from NewEgg.
