5 out of 5 eggsWorks Well - Hp Dm1z

Pros: Sharp picture and sound and Install Drivers(disc ver 2.3f) works perfect. Good reception better then I though.

Cons: Internal antenna has less then 20 miles range. It works real well at 15 mile and less.

I hook up a outdoor antenna receive all channel equally to my HDTV and converter box.

No signal strength meter

Other Thoughts: I notice when I watch 1080i my system speed to 50%-70%.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointed

Pros: antena built in. But does not pick up in if you are any distance from signal. This was the only reason I bought this was because of built in antena

Cons: signal keeps drop out when I plug my big antenna into the usb device. The silver attachment is ver senitive.
Remote does not work

Other Thoughts: would not recommed this to anyone.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks well, mostly

Pros: This tuner is the most sensitive I ever own, works great with regular ATSC in both Windows and Linux, and is generally fantastic.

Cons: The WinTV software is awful, and while it can be bypassed for regular ATSC, it is required for Mobile DTV. For some reason, when tuning Mobile DTV signals, it will provide either video or audio but not both. I suspect this can be fixed in software, but I have yet to note an update. If that bug was fixed and/or it was possible bypass the WinTV software, I would have given this tuner a full 5 egg rating.

Other Thoughts: I bought it for the regular ATSC tuning ability with the Mobile DTV being a bonus. I'm not at all disappointed with the ATSC side of things, and suspect that the Mobile DTV will improve with time.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Eggs - Garbage

Pros: When it worked, it worked great. Picked up 2 more stations that my other ATSC receivers couldn't with my external antenna. All broadcasting towers are 25+ miles from me.

I'm not close enough to any towers to try the built in antenna. The antenna looks fragile so don't yank on it. It will probably last if you pull and push on it gently.

ATSC M/H worked excellent in car up to 75 mph and traveling in all directions with a thrown together homemade junk antenna stuffed in my bookbag in my car. Transmitters were approx. 20 - 30 miles while traveling.

Unit runs warm but doesn't seem overly so. It might run hotter with ATSC but since it no longer works, I don't know for sure.

Cons: After the test drive, I installed the software on my other laptop and ran it in ATSC for 30 mins or so. Unplugged it and then plugged it back in awhile later and the ATSC tuner no longer worked. Total uninstall of software, reboot, reinstall and still not working. Then I plugged it into my other laptop, which it worked with no problems earlier (used on the test drive), and same thing, ATSC tuner dead.

ATSC-M/H is still working on both laptops. I'm going to let it run over the weekend and see if it dies also before sending it back.

Software is a bit buggy for XP (freeze ups, lockups, randomly pops to foreground when in background) . I'd forgive that if the hardware didn't die.

Other Thoughts: I would have had more entertainment taking my last 20 dollars and flushing it down the toilet watching it swirl away than to use to it ship this thing back.

Another reviewer had his die also. Not sure if this is a trend for this model so I don't know if I'll have it replaced or a refund.
