5 out of 5 eggsIdeal

Pros: Everything work as expected

Cons: Nothing

Other Thoughts: Work perfectly whit my raspberry pi (xbmc) and for some reason my remote from my Samsung tv can replace de hauppauge remote whitout any configuration. So i only use the infrared receiver from the kit and i save a remote on my desk :-)

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for about 10 minutes

Pros: --The remote is laid out in an intuitive way
--Worked out of the box with XBMC v12 (Frodo) running on Ubuntu

Cons: The receiver stops working after about 10 minutes of use. The red LED on the receiver (normally flashes for each key press) remains lit, even after removing the batteries from the remote. The machine appears to recognize the receiver and load the appropriate drivers without issue, so I believe this is a hardware failure.

Other Thoughts: Working out of the box with Linux/XBMC is nice, I just wish it lasted longer...

3 out of 5 eggsGood value.

Pros: Works out of the box.

Cons: Not really a con but a bit of an annoyance.

It does not work with Logitech Harmony 900 IR blaster.

After a couple of hours of troubleshooting I found out that the IR receiver for this product does not work with the Logitech Harmony 900 IR blaster.

You have to set up the Harmony 900 to send commands to the receiver directly from the remote.

4 out of 5 eggsWorked out of the box

Pros: Got this because I needed an ir blaster for my Shaw Motorola set top box and Windows Media Center in Windows 8.

Cons: Buttons appear to be for people with elf size fingers.

3 out of 5 eggswatch out for price drops

Pros: I'm sure it's great

Cons: Price dropped $5 after I purchased it, watch out for this as they refuse to price guarantee. I haven't even received my order yet!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat replacement, works well with Harmony 700 remote as well

Pros: Great replacement or addition for the Hauppauge HVR-2250 card. I originally bought my card without the media center kit. (Which I would never recommend, always get the bundle for 20 bucks more) This works exactly as described, with no extra software needed. Simply plug in and the Media Center instantly recognizes it and the included remote works great.

On top of that, I also have a Harmony 700 remote. Once programed correctly with the Media Center PC, the Harmony 700 works with the included USB IR receiver dongle. Plus this whole setup is cheaper than through the actual Hauppauge store!! And its Newegg, so return policies are much friendlier.

Overall very pleased with my purchase.

Cons: Seems like there is a small delay when using the Harmony 700 remote than the one included. No biggie, really only amounts to about a half second. But if you have to delve down into multiple menus, it can become noticeable.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend, and would buy again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well

Pros: Works exactly as its supposed to and is great for my vista htpc

Cons: setup was a lil tricky trying to find where on my comcast box to place the encoder light.

Other Thoughts: If you have a card that has the encoder built in you may not have to use the blaster cable and so setup will be very easy
