Hauppauge HD PVR2 Gaming Edition - High Definition Video Recorder in H.264 w/ HDMI & component interface and One-touch Record button

Pros: The unit records at decent quality from my PS3, a second computer or my cable box. I haven't tried recording gameplay from the same computer where I save the recording.

Cons: The advertised PVR functionality does not exist. Unlike virtually all of Haupauge's other products, this "PVR" does not work with Media Center, instead it uses a proprietary viewer (WinTVv7) which does not provide a TV guide or schedule as advertised.

Other Thoughts: Great for game recording, but if you are also hoping for a TV tuner that is compatible with your cable box, you might be better off with the Colossus instead (also from Hauppauge.)

Pros: This computer is great. Runs Star Wars The Old Republic on high with no lag what so ever. Also the speed at which it runs and loads World of Warcraft is great!

Cons: The Solid State Drive has 40gb already used on it when you get it for the operating system and such. The fan is a tad loud, but nothing horrible.

Other Thoughts: Great computer for the price.

Pros: So far I've been recording my game play through my xbox and after figuring out the best settings. (Youtube and playing around with the settings). The quality is great. You will need a pretty good computer to handle the higher settings. I run mine at the highest settings for all my recordings.

Cons: I randomly lose probably 10% of my video recording. I have no idea why. But, the rendered video will lose it's audio or video. I'm not exactly sure why this happens. But, I've recorded over 100 videos and some of the videos either have no audio or either no video. Or the video freezes at some point through the gameplay. Tried different video players and same results.

Also their is a short time delay when you active the recorder and when it actual starts recording. So always start recording about 5 seconds before you actually start playing.

Other Thoughts: I have a dual screen monitor set-up on in my home office and I'm running my xbox through my secondard monitor and record on my main.

If your like me and care about wire management prepare yourself for a lot of velcro wrapping. This uses alot of wire connections.

Pros: Does everything I wanted it to do. Records Xbox 360 and PC fine in 1080p, and can run for a few hours of recording without getting slagged.

Cons: I'm having problems with the power adapter, it just gets a little finicky when turning on but hasn't turned off mid recording at all. The stock editing software is pretty barebones and clunky, but that isn't much of a problem once I'm finished recording and import to Adobe Premiere.

Other Thoughts: I like this product, it wasn't insanely expensive like other devices I was looking at and it still gets the job done.

Pros: *Records in HD using H.264 format
*Creates manageable file sizes (as opposed to FRAPS files)
*Easy to use and setup
*Recorded video quality is amazing

Cons: *My preference, but the wire/cable management can get a bit messy.

Other Thoughts: I use this to record PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 footage. I also tried recording a show from my cable box. When it is HDCP around, you are limited to 1080i or 720p.

Pros: - Easy setup
- included 2 x HDMI as well as other cables.
- Unpackaged to capture in ~20 minutes
- One button record is convenient
- Download StreamEz from Hauppauge to pump video directly from the unit to Twitch or UStream

Cons: - Software included is VERY basic. Cap, Trim, some effects (ArcSoft Showbiz)

Other Thoughts: This works as advertised. I am on an Xbox360 and the setup could not have been easier or smoother. I have used video cap stuff for years and it usually takes some effort to get everything setup with the correct drivers, wiring, and settings. I followed the directions and everything went perfect the first time.

The inclusion of 2 x HDMI cables was a nice touch.

Overall this thing is great and is the item I have been looking for to easily cap and produce gaming videos from the Xbox360.

Pros: Highest quality recording you can get on the market today. Beats the Elgato, PVR1, Diamond, Black Magic and other products hands down. Comes with excellent software that will work with other capture devices, comes with high quality cords, and is all packaged neatly and is well designed.

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: 1080p 30fps works like a charm, but depending on your PC and editing software, you may get a slight delay on the audio after minutes of playback. To solve this, simply reencode the video file using Freemake video converter. Use the same settings with a different filetype. How anyone can give this produce a bad review is beyond me!

Pros: A very great product that works exactly as advertised with no delay. I record my ps3 with this along with my pc and it has great quality.

Cons: Records 1080i for component.

Other Thoughts: Probably the best thing to record a console with.

Cons: This product does not work as advertised. It will take video feed once or twice and then brick. I tried installing on several systems and the same thing happens every time. It is absurdly sensitive and anything can cause it to freak out and lock up. Once it locks up once, it will never work again on that machine even if you clear it and try a fresh install.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this. Absolutely not worth the money. I work a lot in both video and computers, I build machines and use video recording devices consistently, this product is terrible and barely works at all.

Pros: Inexpensive, comes with cables, easy hardware setup, does what it says it does...

Cons: ...just not as good as it says it does. Recordings looke slightly interlaced and a tiny bit muddy (using default settings). In all fairness I was standing about two feet from the monitor, so for YouTube it should be good enough. The image is lightly distorted with the passthrough.

Other Thoughts: If your monitor/TV is far enough away the small image imperfections may not be noticable. Don't bother using the install CD. Go to the website and download the latest drivers so you can skip the update. This will save some time during the install process. This device cannot be used to record other HD media.
