5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent option for recording analog TV and making your PC a DVR. Fully integrated with XP and Vista Media Center makes this work wonderfully.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The included software for the card is written very well. A lot better than other options out there, but to really enjoy the capabilities of this card, run it with Windows Media Center.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked months straight on end

Pros: Plug and play for Mythbuntu. Been recording since January at least one show a day and have had no problems.

Cons: Only has one tuner. Won't do HDTV. I'll have to upgrade sometime.

5 out of 5 eggsLinux friendly

Pros: Linux friendly :D I ran this with ivtv and mplayer and watched TV on my computer all the time.

Cons: 2 second encoder delay that can't be turned off (in Linux at least) so playing console games is futile.

5 out of 5 eggsMythTV

Pros: Works great out of the box. Did not have any hastles with it not being recognized by mythtv drivers. Fast shipping by Newegg (of course). Not doa.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I should have paid the extra price and bought the one that came with the mce remote. That would have saved me a from a lot of problems dealing with remote issues that are inherited by mythtv distros.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: wasted a lot of my time

Cons: The install CD that came with this did not work at all - WinTV kept bringing up errors when I tried to open it - When run with SageTV no video capture devices were found - Has to be put in the first PCI slot of my mother board

Other Thoughts: Overall this was a very frustrating piece of hardware that I think deserves a place in my trashcan. After many attempts I was not able to get it to run no matter what program I used. I may just be an idiot but oh well.

1 out of 5 eggsdoes not work on vista 64 with over 2 GB ram

Pros: looks cool

Cons: I run Vista 64 with 8 GB ram. I could never get it to work. All it would show was a loss of signal. I replaced all of my cable lines and splitters, but that did not fix it. Finally after forever on google, i found that if i went DOWN to 2 GB of ram it would work!!! It did not work with 4, 6 or 8 GB or ram. Tell me that makes any sense.

4 out of 5 eggsnot perfect, but close

Pros: Does not require a super computer to run. If you are replacing your home PC, the old computer will likely be more then enough for this card. I first started using this card about 3 or 4 years ago and the computer I used then was not cuttening edge. The picture quality is good.

Cons: Its old. It is analog only. It has RCA inputs on the back but those are not supported in windows media center. It does not support widescreen. It does not support digital audio. The initial install was a pain becouse of the video codec. I have noticed the card's picture quality drop off rather quickly when the DBI of the signal is not very high.

Other Thoughts: I 1st started using this card for my DIY DVR with a third party program on XP Pro. Getting the video drivers codex to work was a pain. That pain was experianced again when I formated the machine and upgraded to media center 2005. I never enjoyed using the DVR box like a cable box, it seemed slugish. I would normaly watch tv normaly and only use the DVR to play back recorded video. I now use two of these cards in the same box and have no porblems recording two shows while watching a third via a Media Center extender. Installing the second card took about 3 minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat TV Card for a Great Value

Pros: I don't think I could even find enough words for my love of this TV Card or the company. In my personal opinion, they have to be one of or the best company to produce TV Cards. First off, installation is easy, but this is generally so with any PCI card. I'm currently running Windows XP Home, but with the drivers and software, works with no problem. The only suggestion I would make is going to the website and downloading the current drivers/software, as the provided software on the CD does not come with the radio tuner software. Oh, another great thing about this card. It has radio! That's right, an FM tuner. So, if you get sick of watching TV, then you can rock out to some tunes by simply touching the Radio button and switching over to radio.

Cons: None. Really, its that good.

Other Thoughts: The first system I ran this card in: AMD Athlon XP 2500+, 1.5GB RAM, and a nVidia GeForce FX 5500 256MB. That system ran it great, so I'm sure that a lower end system would run it with no problem. The system I'm running it in now: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+, 4GB RAM, and an XFX 8400 GS 512MB. This system...well...obviously runs great. lol

3 out of 5 eggsWas groovy while it worked

Pros: Works with MythTV no questions asked.

Cons: Unfortunately my unit was flakey, sometimes locked up and finally died being forever unavailable in MythTV.

Other Thoughts: I bought two cards for building this myth box, this 15-116-620 and a similar Hauppauge PVR-150, newegg id 15-116-633. Both were extremely simple to install in Myth, however this one happened to die on me about 7 months in. I'm glad however that it finally died completely and didn't remain in its limbo of just being unreliable. I will be contacting newegg for RMA.
