Pros: Cheap card that works as expected. I have used it for a while to transfer DV content.

Cons: None

Pros: Works so much more quickly than my USB2.0 slots. Ordered this right before editing a documentary project and boy did this come in handy.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Good price, lasts a while.

Pros: Cheap. Could possibly work. Cheap.

Cons: Cheap! Probably doesn't work. Nope. Not for very long.

Other Thoughts: Stopped working correctly after 4 months. Cost me hours of lost editing time. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple more dollars on something with more favorable reviews.

A low price tag does not necessarily mean low quality. We use State of the Art manufacturing equipment to produce really great products. In our experience, Firewire port failure is due to sudden voltage/current change. Please check the other ports on this card. Maybe the other ports are still functioning. If it is a definite defective unit, we are more than willing to provide all of our customers with prompt exchanges.

SYBA offers on-line RMA form, user can easily fill out the form and submit for quick RMA return and exchange.

Other Thoughts: I needed an inexpensive easy retrofit to use several IEEE 1394 or Firewire external drives on our Linux & Windows machines. After the card arrived, I popped it in, rebooted the machine in Linux Mint 11 Katya ( Linux 2.6.38-8-generic (x86_64) & we were in business. Checked the system it recognized the card, I plugged in the external drive & it mounted without a problem! I will probably get a couple more for the remaining machines that need to access these drives.

Pros: pricing seemed good (wrong).

Cons: Product unknowingly caused my computer to go into havoc for 2 weeks. It would freeze for 10-60 seconds randomly, yet if you just wait for it the computer would come out and continue working fine.

I thought by HDD was going bad, but I finally narrowed the issue down to this card when I tried to capture video through it and it would freeze the PPRO capture window for 10-60s and then PPRO would not recognize my camera.

Tore it out and replaced with my old firewire solution that this was supposed to be an upgrade to, and problems disappeared.

Other Thoughts: It's sad that Windows is flawed enough that ANY pci add-on card can muster up the entire system. I feel like OS X handles things like this much better, though it's not perfect.

Last time I buy anything SYBA -- stay away!

Pros: As always, very fast delivery by Newegg (ordered on Sun and delivered on Tue) . Installed in computer with Windows 7 64-bit but not recognized at all after boot up. I ordered so I could access external drives with firewire ports

Cons: Defective unit and does not work.

Other Thoughts: I will return to get something else

Pros: It worked for three days
It may not have been this card that caused my board to crash
Driver software was fairly easy to install (a little misleading during interface)

Cons: It may have killed my board. I am affraid that when I buy a new board it will kill my new one. BUT we will see. I will update when this happens.

Other Thoughts: Decent quality, you get what you pay for.

Pros: Works great for my hackintoh, no problems with conflicting drivers..

Cons: None so far...

Pros: This has worked flawlessly with every device I've thrown at it. The real test came when I bought a Saffire Pro audio interface. Many people say not to use anything but firewire cards that use TI chips on them (this card uses NEC I believe). However I plugged it in and it worked flawlessly.
