Pros: Installed and working in under 5 minutes! Windows found the correct drivers and had them installed before I could put the CD in.

This is now my go-to parallel port card - will be ordering several more to have on-hand.

If you need to support older parallel ticket printers on modern hardware in a point-of-sale environment, this will do the trick.

Cons: Kept legacy office junk functional FAR beyond its lifespan...which means I had to keep supporting it.

Other Thoughts: Legacy ports, sometimes you have to have them.

Cons: Echo everything everyone else has said about this not being plug and play. If it takes me an hour to figure out the driver on the CD, it's going to take you all day, then you're going to give up and buy another one. Spare yourself the trouble and keep looking.

Other Thoughts: I left the driver download from the syba site going, just for kicks. Three hours later, we've downloaded 412kb. WTG.

For plug and play, the description was for the serial ports themselves. Not for the installation because the drivers either is installed using a setup.exe application or has the option of installing it manually.

This card and chipset has been on the market for years. From the issue you are experiencing, it is very unlikely to have all the cards not functioning properly.

From our experiences, it might be a driver or compatibility issue. This is a PCI card, people buy this type of cards usually for connecting to old devices. Many of the old devices offer driver for old Windows version and newer Windows might not function well. For this reason, when install the card, Windows device manager configurations are required. Other Thoughts: was a bit of effort to get software. Suspect the best way is to install card, put mini disk in and let win 7 find the software.. but when it works it a dream.

Pros: I'm using this to control some lights using a relay board with a parallel port connection. I was happy to find that the card acts just like a built in parallel port card in that the data lines remember their state even after the program setting them exits.

The driver for this card was loaded automatically in Centos Linux 5.7 64bit.

Cons: First of all the drivers for the card were not disk sent with card, once I found the drivers and got the card install the printer would not print through it. I put another computer to the printer and it printed so this card does not work. I own a computer store and for something that should take 15 minutes, waste of my time and not worth the shipping to send back. Do not waste your money on this product
