Pros: Well im sure it would of worked fine if i would of had 2 of the same hard drives.

Cons: Well im a dummy and thought i could use it with a single drive and boot from a sata hard drive, so i didn't even end up using it, But it installed and worked fine.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have 2 of the same sata drives before buying this, So you don't make the same mistake i made , But you live and learn :)

SYBA Tech Support was fast and effective

Cons: Instructions and CD disk don't contain the proper files or the process to get the product working.

Other Thoughts: I couldn't get my XP-SP2 system to work with this PCI product.
I followed the written instructions and used the driver file on the disk. Didn't work. Sent e-mail to SYBA Tech Support and got an e-mail within 20 minutes with the proper driver and instructions. Worked! The driver must be for RAID since the PCI card BIOS is RAID (not what the printed instructions show). The driver send was SI3112r.inf (Win-XP). Looks like the driver from a former product. Oh well, works.

Pros: Plug in, load drivers from CD, it works.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Latest drivers are on CD. No newer ones from website. Hassle-free operation.

There is minimal documentation with this card or on the web site. When trying to create a RAID the setup utility hangs with a power cycle the only way out.

Pros: Cheap, works on linux, good for NAS.

Cons: A bit slow.

Other Thoughts: Linux 3.14 picked up the card and the 2 3TB HDDs connected to it. I use it as JBOD, not Raid. Also worked with SSD.

Measured Speed - 110 MB/s in total (55 MB/s on each SATA port) with PCI Latency Timer at 128. If only one HDD is used, I get 90 MB/s. (The HDDs are 7200 RPM Toshibas which give me higher read/write on mobo SATA 3.0 ports; so they're not the bottleneck).

Advertised speed - PCI maxes out at 266 MB/s (32-bit at 66 MHz) and each SATA 150 port at 192 MB/s. Even with 8/10 encoding overhead or whatever they use, I expected at least 100 MB/s on each SATA port. -1 egg for that. Also, I've only had it for 1 day - dunno about longevity.

Good, inexpensive SATA PCI card. Sufficient for NAS if you don't care about speed.

Pros: Despite what i read in some of the reviews, i had no problems getting this to work with windows 8 on my old q6600. My motherboard on this rig has seen better days, and over the years, one of my sata plugs finally died. Without even needing to install software or go through any of the other steps, Windows instantly recognized this pci card and it worked like a charm to breathe a little more life into my old machine. It runs my dvdrw drive just fine and there has been no noticable difference for read/write speeds that i have seen thus far. if you need more sata portd and want something cheap and simple, this should do the trick. Highly recommended

I bought this originally just to have 2 extra sata ports on my system, but when I got a 3tb internal drive that my legacy bios mobo could not see it beyond 756gb, this drive saved it.

Plugged it in and windows recognized it and downloaded the drivers automatically from Windows Update. No need to use the confusing CD. Speeds are around 70mb/s.

Cons: - Drivers cd is confusing and clustered
- Cheap SATA cable
- Poor documentation.

Pros: I guess it does what it is supposed to do

Cons: Tricky PITA.
Part of the cable connector broke but still functions.
Only one SATA cable!
Don't forget to buy SATA cables and Molex -> SATA power adapters!

Other Thoughts: I bought this card to modernize a Dell Dimension 4550 with a dead hard drive. The goal of the project is to make it a simple file and print server for an office. I purchased 2 Toshiba 2TB Hard Drives to go along with this.

A simple install, so what could go wrong?

At the start, this card simply did not work. I put it in a spare PCI slot in the Dell and I was getting a "Plug and Play Configuration Error" in the bios. I thought maybe the card was DOA, so I tried it in a more modern PC. It was recognized by that BIOS, so the card was obviously not DOA.

I Googled a bit and found that some people have had success using different PCI slots in the older Dells. I removed the 56k Modem and the Soundblaster card and tried all the PCI slots. I found one that worked and did not get the PnP errors any longer in the Dell.

Now once the BIOS loaded, this card would get stuck at "Press F4 to enter RAID utility." I don't know why, but it would not recognize the 2TB hard drives. I ended up putting the card back into the more modern PC and updating the BIOS on the Syba card. I apparently downloaded the wrong BIOS file, and this now became a Silicon Image SATA controller, no RAID (Which is fine, ubuntu has software raid). ** MAKE SURE TO USE THE E-PAD BIOS ** It would recognize my SATA DVD burner, but not these drives. I Googled some more, some of these SATA cards have problems with the new SATA II and III standards, so I made some makeshift jumpers out of desoldering wick.

A bit more of monkeying around between the two computers and finally got this thing up and running.

Ubuntu Server is now installing on the Dell 4550 with a software raid set up.

Like most computer projects, make sure to have a spare, working, relatively modern Windows PC to help troubleshoot.

Pros: Does what it's supposed to. Easy to flash. Great way to add a hard drive to the system when I ran out of connections on the motherboard.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This card fit the bill for what I needed at a good price.

Pros: Worked great to find an sata hard drive I added as a slave.

Cons: Instructions should say that you should install the drivers off the CD First before you install in PCI

Other Thoughts: Note: Install the drivers off the CD before installing in a pci slot. Otherwise you will get a screen stating that you have an unrecognized pci device.
