4 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my earlier review

Pros: file transfers are expeditious; I incorrectly gave lower initial review on 04/06/2015. See Other Thoughts.

Cons: no where near as fast when imaging 320 Gb hard drive as USB 2.0

Other Thoughts: In my original review, I said it was really slow. That was based on imaging a 320 Gb notebook hard drive. But subsequently I noted that files transfers are expeditious. So improving # of eggs. My apologies.

2 out of 5 eggsNOT eSATA speed for sure

Pros: was properly recognized by Lenovo T400 Win 7 Prof 64 bit

Cons: slow, very slow, slower than USB 2.0 by far

Other Thoughts: apparently other reviewers had a better experience, so could be my ancient Lenovo T400 refurb; the T400 has the old PCMCIA, not the newer Express Card

4 out of 5 eggsThis is not an esata card

Pros: Must work with some external power supply.

Cons: Is not esata. Just putting this out here for anyone that doesn't have the proper hardware (power source).

Other Thoughts: I should have followed my first instinct. Then I started to think why would they have a card with just a data connector. I thought "sata" was a typo. Sometimes it doesn't pay to think! lol I give it 4 eggs. It was my mistake and not worth going for a rma.I ordered a card that was a little more expensive that is"esata" .

4 out of 5 eggsnot compatible with T61

Pros: Less than 10MB/s speed with thinkpad T61. I checked online, and found that I should blame on thinkpad. So I return it.

Cons: I don't know, because I finally blame on thinkpad. But never use it for your old thinkpad.

5 out of 5 eggsSYBA SATA PCMCIA + WD2500KS

Pros: Easy to install and operate. For me it has worked flawlessly in Windows XP, and Linux.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The card gets rather hot inside my laptop, not heat from the card itself but from the laptop internals, this has made the sticker on top of the card come loose at the ends. Not that it really matters though.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not Work with Nexstar3 enclsure

Pros: Only works when conected directly to WD3200 sata 1.5 HD. And then it is slow transfer speed. USB 2.0 is faster than this card.

Cons: Does not recognize the Nexstar3 drive enclosure when connected to my laptop. The Nexstar3 works super fast when connected to a sata II port on my Desktop machine.

Other Thoughts: I should have spent more money for a better card.

2 out of 5 eggsSyba SATA PCMCIA card

Pros: Cann't say.

Cons: No US support for the product (Actually, no support or customer service contact anywhere in the world has been provided for this SYBA product).

Other Thoughts: Shipping and delivery on time as always through NewEgg. However, product doesn't work. With no support for the product, I am unlikely to ever buy a SYBA product again.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than buying a USB external drive?

Comments: Using with a Kingwin enclosure and Maxtor DiamondMax 10 hard drive. Had no problems setting up, when you're prompted for drivers just let it fetch the latest version from WindowsUpdate. Seems to work just fine - Sandra reports 41MB/sec for the Maxtor HD, almost THREE times faster than my internal laptop HD (14MB/sec.) Does exactly what it says for a decent price.
