5 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: Extra ports, MB only has 2, nowadays everything is Sata, so off I went and bought this card...

Cons: Did not work out of the box, at least it would not boot up with one of my Raptors connected, it would get past post and then hang on a black screen with an indicator at the top left blinking... after reading a few posts I found through Google, it was apparent I had to flash the cards Bios... all is well now, no hangups or anything

Other Thoughts: When installing the Bios, you only need to install the Driver, then after downloading the Bios upgrade, you can go to Device Manager and find your Sata Controller and on one of the tabs it will say Flash Bios, it's the easiest way I see to get this done...

5 out of 5 eggsGood for a PCI card

Pros: Seems to work well for an average SATA controller.

Cons: Speed is limited because it is a PCI card.

Other Thoughts: I ordered and used this card for a little while because my onboard SATA controller died and I was hoping that the rest of the motherboard would continue to work fine but a few weeks later the rest of the board died as well. I noticed a slight decrease in speed when I started using this controller card and if my motherboard didn't completely die ordering this card would have definitely been worth it.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Item!

Pros: I bought this card and installed it into an old P4 system to use as an Improvised lan, it works great.

Some things that the article dosen't tell you...
It comes with 2 sata data cables.. I wish I would have known sooner because I went out and bought 4 just for this card..

It is full hardware RAID! I am able to access the RAID configuration through BIOS.. When I press F1 to enter bios like I usually do, an alternative menu comes up asking if I want to go to the RAID configuration, or my motherboard's bios.. So you would enter into the configuration from here..

The card is also configurable with software that it comes bundled with..

and this card supports full RAID 10 !! it's an actual option in the configuration.
It allows for automatic setup of RAID 0,1, and 10, and also offers manual configuration.
It has some other features for setups that I haven't messed with, because I have no need..

It's running great, and is super cheap! Probably because they are trying to empty out the stock of them because they are only SATA 1.5gb/s

Cons: This is an older card, it uses PCI, and supports SATA1.
But, this card performs!

But still, this is a extremely practical choice for storage purposes that don't require super high throughput.
I'm simply using it as RAID 10 to safeguard my data.

Other Thoughts: sata 1.5gb/s hard disks are a dime a dozen, you can easily and cheaply throw together a terabyte RAID 10 volume using this card for storage and backup purposes.. I'd recommend it to anyone.

1 out of 5 eggsDestructive product: AVOID!

Pros: Worked for about 2 years

Cons: DESTROYED 4 HARD DRIVES (2 mirrored RAIDS) ALL AT THE SAME TIME

Other Thoughts: I was using this for some time without issue, but this weekend I awoke to find all the drives that had been controlled by this device were not responsive. To the point of one drive was literally smoking when I plugged it in via USB/HDD device. None of the 4 HDDs spin up anymore. The only hard drive that was fine was the SSD that wasnt plugged into this card. Seeing as I lost years of data in a matter of minutes, I would not recommend this devices. One RAID used 2x 500gb WD drives; the other RAID used 2x 500gb Seagate drives, neither will read data.
Now stuck with the options of attempting a platter transplant or spending thousands on repair. AVOID!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry to hear that your drives have failed. It is highly unlikely that our card was the cause of such an occurrence. Perhaps there was a power surge or your systems power supply overloaded. Please check to see if the card is still functional using another hard drive. If it is not, regardless of what ever caused this malfunction, we would like to offer you a replacement card at no cost to you. Please contact our support team as soon as possible.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback. We value all positive and negative feedback.

5 out of 5 eggsFits My Needs

Pros: Installed it, booted up and all 4 SATA drives were recognized. Haven't had any trouble since the install.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I ran out of SATA connections on my motherboard, and this was an affordable, easy solution to that problem.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, inexpensive SATA card

Pros: Low cost, works on Win 7 with no issues.

Cons: SATA port location on card

Other Thoughts: Got this for addition stand alone SATA ports. Great to still have some PVI cards available since all of the PCI-e slots were population. Used this card on a new Asus M5A97 EVO build. As usual it didn't want to work in the first PVI slot I tried but was detected with no issues when I move it to the other slot. I see a lot of complaints about these cards hanging on boot, this is almost always a conflict with another slot or not fully seated in the slot. Alll in all I'm satisfied with the card since it was relatived cheap compared to some of the more expensive cards.

1 out of 5 eggsok not the best

Pros: price was high arrived on time. working kind of.

Cons: for some reason when i enable the card it hangs on the cards bios screen when i have a device plugged into it. i had to disable my sata 3 and 4 ports just to keep it from hanging. when i have devices plugged in when there are no devices in and it's installed it works fine dosent hang or anything like that.

Other Thoughts: never will i buy another syba product. i normally leave positive feedbacks on products i purchased from newegg but this will be the first negitive feeback.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry to hear of the trouble with your recently purchased Syba product. It is very important to install our device following the proper instructions.

Please make sure you install the RAID version of the driver which is located on the disk. Also, make sure the card is properly connected to the device and that all cables are plugged in properly. Make sure the PCI slot is free of excess dust which might cause poor contact with the cards gold finger. You might want to also check your computer boot up sequence setup in BIOS. Other possible solutions are installing the card in a different PCI slot, or trying it in a different computer.

We are truly sorry for any inconvenience caused to you. We stride in our customers' satisfaction, but we cannot fulfill this without proper communication.

Thank you again for purchasing our product. Our business depends on your satisfaction. Please do not hesitate to contact us at support@sybaUSA.com for our warranty service or further questions.

Regards, Syba Customer Service GR 030112
