2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't implement actual PS/2 Functionality

Pros: Gives you two fully functional no-hassle USB ports. Worked fine.

Cons: The PS/2 ports simply convert the signal back to USB, so you won't get any PS/2 keyboard benefits like NKRO using this card.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear customer,

You are correct, this is acturally a USB card with PS/2 ports emulated.

We will update product descriptions to reflect that fact. Sorry for any inconvience this has caused you.

Our technical support team is available to help 9am-5pm M-F. Feel free to contact us during those business hours at support@sybausa.com

3 out of 5 eggsEhhhhh

Pros: It works - in Windows.

Cons: First, I bought this as a solution to not having a PS/2 port for my mechanical keyboard so I could get SOME functionality of my NKRO. This does not however provide full NKRO as it is still limited as a USB port would be to 6key NKRO.

Secondly.... IT DOESN'T WORK DURING BOOT UP/POST. This is very irritating, and I kind of guessed it would be the case before I bought it. It works fine in Windows, but before loading windows... nothing.

Other Thoughts: If you REALLY need a PS/2 port, get one. If you are thinking "man, PS/2 will make my keyboard cool-er!" or "I can install windows with my old ps/2 keyboard with this!"..... this isn't the product for you, you're deluding yourself.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect

Pros: It's cheap. It works right out of the box. I can now use my IBM Model M circa 1987 on my Dell!!! I also payed for three day shipping, and it got here overnight! I love newegg!!!!!

Cons: It doesn't make popcorn.

Other Thoughts: Some complained that it doesn't work on the bios and whatnot. That is okay for me because I have a wireless keyboard that I use as a multimedia remote control that works in the bios that I plan on keeping attached all the time anyway!

1 out of 5 eggsWhat is the point?

Pros: Keyboard seems to work once booted into xp.

Cons: mouse movement causes screen flickers in xp.

But exactly what is the point of this product?
If you need to access bios or make a selection durring boot this product will not work. For that you need another usb keyboard.
IF you have another usb keyboard, WHAT do you need this product for?

Other Thoughts: Really
the only possible thing i can think of why someone would want this is?

umm

I don't know!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for purchasing our Syba products. This product can only emulate PS2 port through USB. So it does not give you a real PS2 port, which why it does not allow you to get access to the BIOS. I would like to point out that we can also issue RMA returns. We always try to provide the most reliable products to our customers and all products come with at least 1-year warranty. So please don't hesitate to contact us at support@sybausa.com for replacement or question.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None. Win XP SP3. Card did not work period. Computer booted but went into a USB error loop after Win XP booted. 3 tries and no-go. Computer would not function.

Cons: Faulty product. Tried to download driver to see if that was the problem from SYBA webpage. Had to request it be emailed to me??? Got an automated email from SYBA but no driver. Just a scam to get my email address I guess.
So, card doesn't work and the download driver button on SYBA's webpage didn't work either.
What a joke!!!

Other Thoughts: Newegg's review process doesn't let me rate this a ZERO.

2 out of 5 eggsNot BIOS compatible

Pros: Easy installation, drivers included with win 7 work just fine, pop it in and it works.

Cons: It won't work to access your BIOS. It only works when windows is loaded. So on a new computer build if you want this to add the missing ps2 ports back and you only have a ps2 keyboard your out of luck. You're still gonna need a usb keyboard for motherboards without native ps2 support. No BIOS support is the reason for 2 eggs.

Other Thoughts: But once windows is loaded and installed it works just fine with ps2 keyboard and mouse.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for purchasing our Syba products. This product can only emulate PS2 through USB. This card is not provide true PS2 connection. This a virtual PS2 port connection. We always try to provide the most reliable products to our customers and all products come with at least 3-year warranty. Please don't hesitate to contact us at support@sybausa.com for replacement or question.

4 out of 5 eggsps2 on usb

Pros: provides ps2 ports via usb hub, no installation problems.

Cons: takes up room in my computer case.

Other Thoughts: these are ps2 ports but they are on a usb chip/hub. it's just like an external ps2 to usb adapter. the keyboard/mouse is not recognized as "ps2" but as "hid compliant mouse on usb device". so it's not what i was thinking, like onboard ps2. most people wan't care or know the difference. works fine.

is it not possible to provide onboard ps2 functionality via PCI? that's what I thought....

5 out of 5 eggsThis Adapter YES, Y-cables NO

Pros: Easy install, quick auto-configuration, instant use and great keyboard/mouse response.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I received the adapter card, installed it in a PCI slot, Windows 7 automatically configured the drivers and I rebooted the system when requested.

HP AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.8GHz
Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit OS
Avocent SwitchView KVM 4-Port PS2 Switch (reason for the adapter)

The instant the system started coming up from the reboot after the install, the keyboard and mouse were recognized. No other changes or configuration was done by me.

I would recommend this adapter to add PS2 inputs to a similar system/KVM without hesitation. It is just that good!

I previously tried an intelligent USB-to-PS2 Y-cable (from a well-known company) without success as the keyboard consistently froze up, dropped from USB support and auto-restart for things as simple as typing 5 or 6 character words. The mouse also froze during these times.

I was using a separate USB keyboard for input to this system but the PS2 keyboard for the KVM and other systems. No more though with this adapter installed!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked perfectly. I had 15 ft cables run through cabinets so could not switch to USB easily for new computer which did not have PS2 ports.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for Slot Reader

Pros: Needed a PS2 port for an all USB computer. The PS2 port on the card worked for a Wasp Slot barcode Reader.

Cons: None
