SYBA 2-port USB 3.0 PCI-e Controller Card with Power Connector Model SD-PEX20047

Pros: Easy to install, drivers work for XP with service pack 3 and higher without a hitch. VERY fast even with USB 2.0 devices.

Cons: In spite of what the description says, they not only do NOT ship with drivers for Windows 2000, you can't get them for the NEC chipset. It seems a lot of manufacturers using this chipset are making the "all windows from 98 on" claim so it must have originated with NEC. I really need this to work in the Windows 2000 server box for backup purposes so the fact it works well with win 7 is not terribly relevant.

Pros: Compatible with older non-2.0 PCI-e slots. 4-pin molex for maximum compatibility and power pass through to USB devices. Backwards compatible with USB 2.0. Not sure about older USB 1.0 compatibility. Easy installation. No need to even reboot. Supports Windows XP, Vista and 7, 32-bit and 64-bit.

Cons: Neither the Y-adapter nor the low-profile adapter were included. I don't mind because I don't need either, but the product pictures should be updated to reflect this. Drivers are provided on a 3" disc. Make sure your CD/DVD drive supports the smaller 3" discs or be prepared to search online for drivers. All the drivers I found, both on disc and online, are "set-up installers" meaning you'll have another entry in your Add/Remove Programs.

Other Thoughts: Full disclosure: I ordered this from a competitor.

Installed on Window Vista 64-bit. Windows attempted to find the drivers online, but after several minutes of searching I just googled the chipset and downloaded the lastest generic version. Wished it didn't require a setup installer. I'm adding this to an older nForce 4 motherboard to squeeze another 6-8 months out of it. Works great. Bought this to add a Thermaltake BlacX 5G USB 3.0 SATA hard drive dock. Works flawlessly. But the motherboard PCI-e slots are not 2.0, so hard drive transfers through my USB 3.0 dock are slightly reduced. Average around 55mb/s with peaks of 75 mb/s. Can't complain. I've owned several SYBA brand add-on cards and never had a problem with them.

Other Thoughts: Just wish New Egg would fix the title page so I, and others, didn't come here expecting a PCI to USB 3.0, which I need, when in reality it is PCIe to USB 3.0.

Pros: NEC USB 3.0 Chipset.

Cons: The picture show that it includes a low-profile bracket, but when I open it, only a card, CD, and a manual. There are no Y-power cable and low-profile bracket.

I asked for return or exchange. But they did not give me the RMA number.

Other Thoughts: It is not good shopping experience with Newegg this time. I email them, two personals reply to me, but I asked for refund or exchange, no one can give me the RMA #.

Pros: Wouldn't know since it never worked. Doesn't take up a lot of space?

Cons: Looked like it installed correctly but everything I plug into it doesn't work. I have re-seated the card 5 times and re-connected the molex connector twice. Also, for some reason if I try to lock it in place with a screw it pulls the card out of the slot, no matter how i adjust it. But that's not the problem since i have tried to plug it in with usb 3 and usb 2 while the card was fully seated and still, no dice. The box the product came in was very beat up, the bag the card was in was not anti-static, the driver disc did not have any drivers for this product and the was no user manual like the front of the box specified.

Other Thoughts: Going for the RMA and hoping the next one comes with all the things this one was supposed to have, including a card that actually works. Newegg, I love you, but this is just ridiculous. SYBA, this is the second product I have used of yours that didn't work. I probably won't go with this company in the future.

Pros: Works most of the time. Seems really fast. Compact and only uses molex to power. Good price point.

Cons: * Normally have to replug in my external HDD for it to be recognized as connected
*Odd ports that have raised edges that make it a little more difficult to plug your USB cable into then most other USB ports (2.0 and 3.0).

Other Thoughts: Overall, it does what it should and doesn't cost a lot.

I took 2 points off for making me fiddle with my HDD everytime I turn my computer back on for it to be recognized by my computer. I took the other off for the very odd input design.

Pros: compatible with a Dell Optiplex GX280 w/ a 64bit 3.4GHz processor. It install and works great. small size and fast speed( I don't have a usb 3 thumb yet but my Mushkin had sustained read of 31MB). USB 3 is the way to go for future proofing an old system. (see other)

Cons: It partially blocks the fan on the vid card ATI HD2600. But that is a system specific issue. (vid card still has opening for fan/ not total blocked and temps ok.)

Other Thoughts: This Optiplex GX280 was an experiment to see if an old system could hand Win7 64bit. It does but if too many usb devices are on the usb 2 bus then it will not recognize any new items. this is a system/Motherboard issue. So I ordered this card to hopefully solve that problem by giving the system another usb bus system to use.
I'm happy it did what it was supposed to do. I can now use usb thumb drives on my system. I know I could have added another usb 2 card but I like new tech and use it in odd systems.
This was a great purchase and the Egg ships fast. it helped that it had free shipping when I purchased it.

I would suggest this particular card to anyone wanting to add a bus or just wants USB 3.0. add a hub to expand it more.

Pros: 90MB/s real transfer rates in Win7 64 bit with a standard SATAII hard drives, thats 30MB/s faster than the internal SATAII controller on the same machine. Wow!

Cons: No Mac drivers....yet.

Other Thoughts: This technology with SATAIII will revolutionize the portable storage industry.
