SYBA USB 3.0 2-port PCI-e Controller Card, VLI VL80x Chipset, with On-board 20-pin HeModel SD-PEX20122

Pros: It's affordable, easy to install, and performs well. I'm not seeing any of the issues raised by other reviewers. I bought this because I wanted a internal 20-pin USB 3.0 header since it allows for a simple, clean connection of the USB 3.0 front panel ports on many newer cases.

Cons: There's no low-profile bracket which would be a deal-killer if I needed to install it in a slim desktop or HTPC case.

Other Thoughts: As with most hardware I purchase, I didn't bother with the included driver CD. I downloaded and installed driver version 1.90A from the VIA Labs download page, and it is working fine. There's also version 2.10B, but strangely it is older than 1.90A if you believe the website.

Pros: Works great automatically detects with widows 8

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I'd buy it again

Pros: I received a replacement card. And it works this time. I guess 1st one was a DUD. Now, it transfers files without a problem. No more sudden disappearance of DEVICE! No more yellow warning sign in DEVICE DRIVER!

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: SYBA's tech support was quick and responsive. KUDOs.

Cons: It does not work. VL800 series is HOST CONTROLLER meaning that it does all the processing in software in computer main memory.

I tried to make it work chaing PCIe lane settings and checking power supply, cable connection,. It fails. Tried on different systems, same result. During a file transfer, it just goes YELLOW in device driver.

Rebooting so many times to try several times after uninstalling and reinstalling the device driver .90A. It does not work.

Other Thoughts: It does not work. I am in the process of contacting their support.

There are two important steps to install the newest USB 3.0 controller cards:
1. Make sure the driver is installed correctly. Instead of letting Windows search the driver on Internet. Please manually lead the Windows Installer to search the driver CD bundled with our card. Once the driver is installed without error, you are half way there.
2. Make sure the power feed in the back of the card is connected to a power source.

USB 3.0 controller usually demand more power than PCI-e slot can supply.

Pros: Little to none

Cons: Started up the computer and got a windows message that the USB component was drawing too much power. Removed this junk and now no message (trying to install drivers had no effect). Installed a competitor's and viola - USB in the front panel.

Other Thoughts: Don't vendors test products anymore?? Or is it just "When in doubt ship it out"?

Many of the new USB 3.0 devices consume more energy than USB 2.0 devices. We have integrated a power feed in the back of the card to provide enough power for the card, and the devices connected to this card.

In your case, your motherboard PCI-e slot does not provide enough power to drive our card. Please connect the Molex power to this card. Once our card has the proper power feed, you will find out that not only will our card work, but it will power many of the newer USB 3.0 devices better than our competitors.

Pros: Looked hard to find this little gem. Had to get this to use the AFT PRO-57U card reader. This one works because of the placement of the 20 pin port. Others would not work because the 20 pin cable end was too big.
This card matches USB 3.0 transfer speeds on all ports and is a great upgrade either for the card reader I mentioned or if you are simply upgrading to a case with front panel USB 3. Detects in Windows 7 with no issues.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This does require a molex power cable to be properly powered - it is NOT optional, as I found out. If it isn't detected, make sure all cables and card are seated snugly and properly. I forgot about molex power plug on initial install.

Pros: It was the only product on newegg that allowed me to use the 20-pin internal USB 3.0 adapter to connect the front USB ports on my case. It also has two extra USB 3.0 connects on the back.

Cons: It works most of the time, but if I'm transferring data from a USB drive or external HDD, the front ports stop working altogether and won't turn back on until the computer is restarted.

I haven't used the back ports much as I haven't needed them, but I realized today that one of those stopped working as well.

Other Thoughts: I didn't look into it enough to determine the cause of the malfunction, but be sure to test this thing immediately. Mine works most of the time and it still allows the use of my front USB 3.0 ports, given I'm charging something or transferring small amounts of data (maybe >2Gb).

Pros: Bought it to solve my no USB 3.0 header on my MOBD, and it solved it, now USB 3.0 on my case are useful as they should be.

Cons: In WIN8 64-bit;
The website was not useful at all, would not let me download the latest drivers. The disk was not useful at all, it also would not let me load the drivers.
In the include info. it indicates win8 is not supported.

Other Thoughts: How I did this was; I installed the device first, than I started the PC, than looked in device manager and it said under' Universal Serial Bus Controllers' Renesas USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller-0096(Microsoft). And also, VIA USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller-0096(microsoft). Both of them had a yellow exclamation mark. So I restarted the pc and the yellow exclamation marks were gone in device manager. In the included directions from the box, it said if the exclamation marks are not there, that indicates proper driver installation. It works, but I did not try with a 3.0 device because I do not have one at the moment. But I used a 8 GB USB 2.0 thumb drive and loaded 1,856 songs in 8 minutes.

Pros: Syba support quick respond. Auto installed in Windows 8 and works well.

Cons: After installing in Win 7 64bit, PC hangs on shut down. Monitor shuts down like normal, tower stays on, BSOD pops up, then the instead of shutting down restarts. Syba sent another driver to try out, but had same result. Then support just said it might not be compatible with my machine. This after telling them it works well in Win 8.

Other Thoughts: Card does work well in Win 8 environment, seems very compatible there. As soon as I disable the driver and reboot the system(Win 7) shuts down properly again.
I have a EVGA SR-2, tried this card in several different slots. Not all results were as good as the problems I stated above.
Disappointed with support, didn't offer much beyond another driver.
Used Syba cards in the past with good luck, however this one was a dud. Stay away.

Please contact SYBA technical support team again. The problem might be in the driver. If you are running a dual boot system, the Windows 7 might pick up the wrong driver.

You might want to test the card in a friend's PC running Windows 7. Install the driver manually from the mini CD that came with the card.

Pros: Small, 19-pin connector and two additional USB 3.0 ports on the card. Works in parallel with my on-board USB 2.0 and 3.0 connectors. Arrived quickly.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Needed it because my case has front panel usb 3.0 ports and my motherboard lacks 19-pin connector. Followed the online advice to install using downloaded drivers. Instructions are a bit off. Online instructions show different driver name than packaged instructions. Package was right. Used "Run as Administrator" to install. Had to reboot / install twice to make it work. No other tricks needed. Works nicely!
