3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: inexpensive, works

Cons: driver not included. Would not load driver in win7 64 automatically. Was labeled as an iocrest product, so I had to look up my invoice to find it was sold by symba and finally found the driver...and a manual.

Other Thoughts: Was labeled as an iocrest product, so I had to look up my invoice to find it was sold by symba and finally found the driver on their website...and a manual.

1 out of 5 eggsBad card

Pros: None

Cons: Lasted 1 week.

Other Thoughts: Computer stopped working within a week after installing adapter. Replaced power on switch thinking it was problem.
Finally removed adapter. Computer works fine. Replacement switch not needed.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Perhaps the Power supply unit could not support the power intake and devices connected to the computer.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes the job!

Pros: Does the job for budget price. Good speeds (< 1 Gbps). Mind you this is PCIe x1, which caps out at theortical 8 Gbps.
At this price ($15) you can't ask for more!

Cons: What the heck!, all ports are up side down! - What a pity but OK.

Other Thoughts: Hangs for some time with multiple number of transfers ( tested with ~5 or so per port), but that could be from Windows 7 too. I usually use Teracopy with which it works fine.

4 out of 5 eggsAlmost Perfect

Pros: -Easy install
-Came with USB 3.0 cable
-Came with Molex male to Sata Female cable
-Fast

Cons: -No drivers included
-Not Recognized by Win7 64bit OS

Other Thoughts: Installed this on my Win7 64bit OS and hoping drivers would install automatically....but it didnt. Had to search on the SYBA site to find drivers for it. Was not difficult but was a bit of a paint to deal with when it comes to compatible drivers.

After install, it works as it should...FAST!

Good Product.

1 out of 5 eggsUpdate to my review earlier .......

Pros: None at this time, but wanted to mention that I was using Windows 7 64 bit mode. This card may work fine in 32 bit mode but not in 64 bit mode at least not for me. There is one other reviewer that said the same thing that no USB devices worked with the card with win 7 64. Also about the MFG saying a user must not had plugged in the power connector to the board could cause it to fail - well with the card installed without plugging any USB device in would not need the power connector IMHO. If you are using USB drives that only pull power from the card then I would say yes you would have to have the power supply connector in place.

Cons: Hope this helps others.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We test this product multiple times with our inventory and do not have this issue with Windows 7 64bit and Windows 8 64bit operating systems.

Our engineers will look into this matter. If it is a problem of our production design, we will improve it.

We apologize for any issues that you are having. As you know we are more than happy to provide our customers with a hassle free exchange when a product is defective.

1 out of 5 eggsA Total Waste of my time .........

Pros: None

Cons: I have been working on PC's for over 15 years. I bought two of these cards for separate PC's. Just a note I have never had any issues with these PC's they are both around 4 years old and the PC I used was when I installed this card was Win 7 Ultimate. I installed the card and went to power on my PC and received no post screen. I shut the PC down and removed the card still nothing. At this point I thought I smoked my motherboard. Left PC off for 5 minutes then it powered up fine. Put card back in PC booted fine. Device showed up in device MGR requesting the driver to be loaded. Installed driver showed device had been installed properly. Rebooted PC and once logged in it would not recognize any usb device (both 2.0 & 3.0). So went to the MFG site and downloaded their driver which showed to be the same version that was on CD that came with the card. Well after this my PC would lock up when shutting down then went to a blue screen of death. Turned off pc the back on received another BSOD before Windows loaded. Uninstalled driver and reinstall CD driver still BSOD. There are several reviews about this card having similar issues. The MFG can say the user must have done something wrong or whatever else. The bottom line both these cards are going back to Newegg for a refund - not even going to bother getting another card. Oh yeah I did try the other card and got the same results. A complete waste of my time - spent 2 hours messing with these cards.

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend this product to anyone.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Perhaps the power supply you are using does not provide enough power or the card was installed improperly.

Also, the BSOD was caused by a driver conflict. This means drivers that you already have installed are conflicting with our device and must be uninstalled in Device Manager. Drivers for this device must then be reinstalled.

We apologize for any issues that you are having. As you know we are more than happy to provide our customers with a hassle free exchange when a product is defective.

5 out of 5 eggsstrange?? speed drops 10mb without usb2

Pros: It works with my win 8 and XP pro. PNP device. With promotion code, it cost me about 15 bucks with free shipping. The benchmark is about 80 MBs in read with usb 3 adata 16 g flash drive in HD tune 2.55.

Cons: When I using more usb devices on this card, the speed drops according to the ratio of number of devices. I guess this is the characteristic of all usb controller that I never pay attention to. SATA device did not show such character.

Other Thoughts: After for a while the same test goes down to about 65 MBs. At the beginning I thought something wears out the Adata 16 g flash drive or the controller. Yesterday I put back the external usb mem card reader which I converted from internal usb then the speed bumps back to 80 MBs. This condition is very strange. In other words, with both usb 2 and usb 3 devices on the same system, the usb 3 device will go faster. I never thought about that but this speed drops I am able to duplicate every time.

5 out of 5 eggsCan't Always Use e-Sata

Pros: Works fine so far. Speed pretty much what the device supports, so MUCH better (~3-4x) than USB 2.0. Doesn't rely on bus power. The price is good too, considering.

Cons: Windows 7 didn't recognize it. The need for an available pci-e slot. The fact my WinXP box doesn't have a remaining pci-e slot. too sad...

Other Thoughts: The baby CD has the current driver on it - same as the one on the Entron web site. Not super new - maybe it's stable! <G>

I wouldn't mind if the price of a pci version would be lower than it is. I can always share the connected drive, and connect to it through the gigabit router, I suppose...

4 out of 5 eggsSeems like a great card

Pros: Seems like a good card. Small compact, fits well into my PC case. No issues with the Molex connector at all. Have had the card for about 3-4 weeks. Working fine so far! I like the internal 3.0 USB connector on the inside of the card. It works great for connecting a wireless mouse adapter, which protects it from getting knocked around on the back of the PC. Nice feature!

Cons: None so far that I can tell. All ports on the card are operating properly. Questionable MB USB 3.0 port operation.

Other Thoughts: This seems weird.. but the 3.0 USB ports on my MB (MSI) have stopped working. I contacted MSI, and reinstalled the drivers for the MB 3.0 ports, worked fine for one day. The next day, the MB 3.0 USB ports stopped working again. Kind of frustrating! But since the card has more ports than the MB, i'll leave it for now. Perhaps I'll mess around with it some more later and remove the Syba card to see if the MB ports continue to operate. I'll update this post later.

5 out of 5 eggsit works

Pros: It works out of the box in Win 8 Ent 64 bit.

Cons: I think they should sell it for 10 dollars.

Other Thoughts: Without the driver from the manufacture site, I only getting about 35 MB/s with Adata usb 3 flash drive. After I load the driver from manufacture site, I was getting 65 MB/s. Then I realized that I forgot to hook up the 4 pin molex power supply connector. Funny, after I connect the 4 pin molex connector the speed jumps up to 75 MB/s. On Win 8, it says I have a read speed of 80 MB/s for big files. The write speed is about 22 MB/s neighborhood. I was getting 30 MB/s on usb 2 with my Adata usb 3 flash driver. The speed was improved by 2.5 times with usb 3.
