3 out of 5 eggsWhile it worked, great!

Pros: It gives extra high speed ports to attach other USB devices to. Great if you have maxed out your initial set of USB ports.

Cons: Don't try and boot up from this device - in trying to reinstall my OS, nothing plugged into the card could be read - and none of the drivers on the included disk seemed to load either.
After a year of use, one of the USB ports is non-functional. Not sure how this could have happened - all it ever did was sit there with something plugged into it. It wasn't mishandled or anything - just one day it didn't work.
If this speeded up the accessing of my drive, I didn't notice it much.

Other Thoughts: Not sure I'd go with this brand again. I like the utility of having extra drives, but I don't think this is the best one I could have gotten.

3 out of 5 eggsBIOS does not detect a bootable USB thumb drive

Pros: It works fine for thumb drives etc in windows. Easy to install the card and the drivers.

Cons: I have a ASUS M5A97 PLUS motherboard with the current BIOS version, but it does not detect my bootable LINUX USB 3.0 thumb drive that is placed in this card . This is why I purchased this product along with the drive was to run LINUX over a faster medium. So I'l need to keep using the much slower USB 2.0 USB ports

Other Thoughts: If you want to use it for booting up a system don't buy it.

5 out of 5 eggsThese work good

Pros: I've bought a couple of these. One was installed in an XP Home box with an MSI FM2+ motherboard. The MB has USB3 ports but I needed more. The other card was installed in a Win7 64-bit box, with an ancient ASRock 939 motherboard and PCI-e 1.0. This box needed some USB 3.0 love, it had none of it's own. In both cases, the cards came right up and worked great, once the driver was installed.

Cons: It's a bit tricky to install the driver. Cancel Windoze's attempt to do it automatically, it won't work. Insert the CD and navigate to the Renesas\windows directory. There's a setup.exe program. Use that.

Other Thoughts: It can be handy to have an internal USB3 port, which is why I like these cards. With newer external 2.5 inch drives no longer using native SATA drives in them, and often being difficult to disassemble anyway, I occasionally find myself with an orphan external drive, i.e. no place to use it. This card lets me use that drive internally on a desktop system - and if I don't need the portability, I much prefer the drive to be internal. This card solves the problem nicely.

1 out of 5 eggsIt's JUNK and so is the company

Pros: absolutely none

Cons: Can't give this JUNK a -3 which I'd like to do. I tried installing the card in a system with an ASUS M4a88TD-V motherboard that's had something like 1/2 of all the cards known to man installed in it at one time or another. After installing the card the system hangs somewhere in POST. Well it had been over 30 days when I tried it so I went online to SYBA to do an RMA and guess what - after filling out all of the fields in the form it would not submit. No phone number to call so i printed out the filled in web page and faxed it. A couple days later I received and email asking where I bought the card (no place on the form to fill that in). I replied to the email that I bought it from Newegg and that's the last I've heard from them. So now I'm out the cost of the card and shipping, several hours of troubleshooting time and still don't have a USB3 card working. And I'd originally planned to buy and install several of these for myself and some clients. Shame. SYBA now goes on our company's blacklist.

Other Thoughts: Bottom line. BAD card. Less than worthless 'customer support'. Bad company which now goes on our company's blacklist.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Does exactly what it says. Warning the little disk that it comes with, does not have product specific drivers. Windows 7 took a little bit of time to recognize it, but one it did, it worked great.

Cons: The included disk apparently had drivers for everything they make, not so much a con, but hard to determine which one you need.

5 out of 5 eggsGood buy.

Pros: 3 USB 3.0 ports are more than I'll probably ever need.
It includes a sata to molex power plug, although I didn't need it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: The driver CD is a mini-CD, my computer has trouble reading these. Also, it appears that the company has put the drivers for every product they make on the CD, so you have to find the one you want from the "Readme" file.

5 out of 5 eggsPut two in, no problems at all

Pros: Windows 7 x64, installed two.
Great price, more ports.

Cons: no cons (yet)

Other Thoughts: You have to use the installer provided in the box on a mini-CD, windows update cannot locate drivers

1 out of 5 eggsBe cautious

Pros: good speed

Cons: 1 - Dead after four months
2 - fried a USB video card

Other Thoughts: I should have read the other review about how this board can fry devices and four months of life seems limited

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing with this card.

This is not normal behavior for this card. It should not fail after 4 months nor should it destroy USB devices.

We would advise you to complete our RMA form for a replacement device.
