2 out of 5 eggsBad Header

Pros: Cheap, somewhat functional

Cons: Unreliable. After a couple weeks of use, devices I had connected via the internal header stopped functioning. The USB driver kept malfunctioning and wouldn't come back. I checked connections and reseated the cart and cables multiple times to no avail. I may have to go for a higher quality part (albeit much more expensive) from Silverstone.

Other Thoughts: Judging by the other reviews, quality may be a hit or miss. For the price, though, it's definitely worth a bet. You might have better luck than I did.

1 out of 5 eggsKinda Works

Pros: 4x USB 3.0, Internal header, 4pin power

Cons: Any drive connected to the card locks up almost after 1 min of use. Extremely slow when working and crashes any software application trying to access the drive at high speeds. For professional use (Video Editing) the card is unusable.

Other Thoughts: Does work but locks up, using it to connect high speed usb 3 drives to edit footage in Adobe Pr & Ae. Any drive connected to the card locks up almost after 1 min of use. I've tried different drivers, no use. I should have read reviews as others seem to have this problem. Bad cheap product.

5 out of 5 eggsEtron EJ188 chipset rocks!

Pros: I installed this on an ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution motherboard running Windows 7 x64. It has been a solid system for many years and still performs well. Now I wanted to upgrade it to USB 3.0, and this card works well (unlike ones based on VIA VL805-Q6 chipset).

* Etron EJ188 chipset
* Card and drivers work
* Installs in less than 5 minutes
* Half-height adapter
* Both power and USB header on side of card instead of top makes for cleaner cable routing/hiding

Cons: * Side power and USB header makes plugging/unplugging cables difficult when next to another card
* Colors are bit ugly for windowed cases like mine. I found other black USB 3.0 cards, but they were all shoddy VIA chipsets.

Other Thoughts: This Etron-based card had my system running USB 3.0 in less than 5 minutes.

In contrast, I spent 14 hours trying to get a different card based on a VIA VL805-Q6 chipset to install. Total nightmare and waste of time.

Avoid the pathetic VIA SuperSpeed VL805-Q6 chipset!!!

4 out of 5 eggsNew life into older system

Pros: Cheap, short (half-height card), easy install into small case

Cons: none noted yet

Other Thoughts: Look for the driver disk between the card board, then update from the web site to v1.0.0.118 - no problems!

4 out of 5 eggs4 ports and fast

Pros: All four ports work. Some cards select either inside or external ports, not all. Much faster than the first gen 3.0 card it replaced. Software install went smoothly after a 40 minute hassle getting the mount to align. Overall it was worth the hassle for the improved performance and the heavy duty plug receptacles.

Cons: Fit. The bracket fit was terrible. Given that all PCI-e cards need some bending adjustments, this one was off in all three axis by as much as 3/32". I had to remove the bracket, flatten it in a vise, re-bend the tab (lengthen the mount height), and clip off the tab so the screw would fit. The two tabs that screw to the card were not 90 degrees and made the card not align with vertical.

Other Thoughts: Given that this is an Antec aluminum case and an ASrock mobo, slot alignment is not guaranteed. I do not know what industry standards exist here. All cards I have installed in many computers have required some adjustment. This card was an extreme example.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works
Small
IDE plug so I could connect to my case's front USB ports.

Cons: Doesn't supply power while the computer is off, which is to be expected, I suppose.

Other Thoughts: Due to my motherboard's PCI-E x1 placement, I couldn't plug it in there because of the Northbridge heatsink. I was able to plug it into my second PCI-E x16 port, though. Works perfectly.
It may have sped up my internet speed through my USB wifi adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for your buck

Pros: I needed this card for my case since my motherboard didn't have a usb 3.0 port.
So far I havent had any problems with it not working or disconnecting.
I noticed about a 10-20 mb difference compared to to usb 2.0
it was easy to set up, I just plugged it in and windows automatically installed the drivers for me

Cons: What cons?

Other Thoughts: It is nice having a couple extra usb ports in the back.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks !!! Thanks USB 3.0

Pros: This card worked the minute it was installed in my system (ASUS P5B-Deluxe Wi-Fi), it took one reboot and from there it has work at the rated speeds, although not everything you can plug in this connectors is or could be up to speed, it does work.
I used a high-end SDHC (UHS Speed Class 1 95/50 MB/s) flash card on a USB 2.0 card reader and the writing speeds jump from a burst of 190MB/s slowing down to 44MB/s, moving a 3.1GB video file.

I bought a case to use the front panel headers and they work great too, this card has not slow down or given any issues to my system ever since I start using it back in May of 2013. I'm using Win7 Home Edition 64-bit and didn't have to install drivers either.
The power connector to it was not required for my purposes but I connected a power plug to it anyway.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you don't want to upgrade your motherboard, this is a great solution, but also a case with a USB 3.0 header would help even better, I got a Fractal Design case for $100 and with the front headers it has made my computer get better transfer rates.
Better than upgrading to a whole new system. In my opinion.
