2 out of 5 eggsdon't buy unless you know what your doing

Pros: none

Cons: no tech support I could find, poorly written software, poorly written manual. Couldn't find information or solutions posted anywhere online. No apparent support for linux

Other Thoughts: Got the driver/software installed, card shows correct instal in devices. Can't scan and tune any channels. The software is erratic, fm tuner scans and finds channels but when I try to use the interface to select them it won't let me do it. No channel up/down, can't type a known channel in manually all it get's is 87.9 and that's static.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work to receive Clear QAM

Pros: Receives anilog cable and Digital broadcast signals just fine.

Cons: I purchased this card to receive unscrambled digital QAM signal from my cable provider. The short version is that this card is not able to allow Windows Media Center to connect to the unscrambled Digital QAM signal. Yes my cable company does transmit some unscrambled stations and my HDTV does display those stations and I have other TV tuners that can access the unscrambled Digital QAM stations.

Other Thoughts: This tuner card is misrepresented in the New Egg catalog as being able to receive digital QAM cable. In retrospect had a paid better attention to the low rating feedback I would never have purchased this tuner card. Then to add insult to injury the cote of returning it to New Egg means that I will get back less than half what I paid to purchase it and that is only if I do not consider the time I spent trying to get it to work and packing for shipment etc.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Hardware, possibly QC issues, quirky software

Pros: Great Hardware - final I get crystal clear HDTV on my PC.
Very responsive warranty service.

Cons: Software is quirky.
Sparse software documentation.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to update my previous post but do not know how to do it Newegg reviews so I am posting a new review.

My previous post mentioned the fact that the card would only work with analog cable signals and no OTA. I have an amplified attic antenna for OTA so poor signal strength was not an issue. A few days after posting on this forum, an MSI rep contacted me and arranged to send in a replacement (even sent a shipping label - nice!). I am happy to mention that the new card works perfectly and I picked up 68 OTA stations including all of the major network HDTV transmissions. I have a 7 year old Dell GX280 2,8GHz PC running XP-SP3 and all HDTV pictures are crystal clear. I have not used the FM tuner or remote so cannot comment on those. So, overall this is an excellent piece of hardware that may have had some QC issues.

I don't have Windows MCE so used the included software Arcsoft TotalMedia 3.5. OTA scan is rather slow - took over 5 mins but otherwise works fine. It has a few quirks:

1. The stations are listed in random order, probably in the same order they were discovered. You can manually move each station up or down to sort them but it is tedious.

2. You can select your favorite stations but there is no way to default to the favorites listing. The program always starts with the full station listing and then you can choose the favorites view.

3. I sometime like to have my TV running in a small window by itself. This software can be run in in non-full screen in a smaller window about 25% of the main monitor but the window size cannot be customized and there is no way of hiding the menu bars in a non-full screen window.

4. HDTV picture is great but I was having momentary freezes while watching action sports. I do have a PCI-e video card with hardware acceleration. However, when I turned off hardware acceleration from the software settings, the freezes went away and the picture is very smooth.

5. If you wanted to reset TV settingts, the software warns that all stored settings will be deleted but it has a nasty habit of remembering them. If you rescan for digital TV channels, the same channel will be listed twice, one listing will be correct and the other will be a dummy listing. Again the only way to fix this is by manually deleting the 68 dummy channel listings one by one.

6. There is a printed manual with very sparse software section & many of the software menus are missing. I went to Arcsoft's site and found the manual for the full software but it does not match MSI's version. Arcsoft sells slightly crippled OTA versions to several hardware manufacturers so not all the features listed in the full version work and the MSI version does not have any updates.

7. I was able to make this card work with the freeware Mediaportal software but did not like the Channel menu and it crashed several times. If you have a newer 2-3 year old PC and/or Windows 7, you may want to give it a try.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: Installation into the computer PCI slot was simple; software also got installed without problems. A contrary to what some folks are saying: it receives some free digital channel over the antenna.
Also important - picture quality is almost equally good, as on TV screen.

Cons: The software it comes with, is ..quirky, to be polite. Looks nice, reminds me WMC of Win7. Very large program (TotalMedia, >200MB, old - from 2009, can not be updated though), crashes pretty often when you select a channel (but never crashed when was just watching TV).

Other Thoughts: When scan for channels, often finds over a hundred, but some are repeated a dozen times. So the right ones need to be selected after the search. Also, would be great if someone will be able to advise the simple program instead of TotalMedia.

1 out of 5 eggsMSI TV Tuner

Pros: none cannot get windows media to recognize and the included software crashes on finish -- running windows 7 pro 64

Cons: Cannot get unit to respond to windows media or software to "finish" -- after several reinstalls, I will consider this a payment to the school of hard knocks for lessons payment -- no MSI for me--

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of junk

Pros: None

Cons: I bought this for the FM tuner... and wouldn't you believe it!? It doesn't even work?! The manual doesn't even tell you how to setup the radio and I plugged in the antenna in the card and it doesn't pickup anything... Wow! It is either the antenna is a piece of trash or the card itself is a piece of junk... maybe it's both! No wonder why Newegg has this thing on its shell shocker deal so often... I have not been able to get anything out of this card besides wasting hours of my time and wasting money.

4 out of 5 eggsATSC / FM tuner works in Windows 7 x64

Pros: ATSC works as expected. FM tuner is nice to have but not needed. PCI card with low profile bracket. Great for older M/B with low profile cases.

Cons: Bad reviews on Newegg. Driver not updated since release.

Other Thoughts: I am buying this as a 2nd OTA ATSC tuner for my HTPC. It works as expected once I installed the driver. I don't like that the driver on disc is identical on their website which is like 3-4 years old.

I am only using it with my 7MC x64. I did not use the software come with the disc nor I used the remote. I don't know how well the remote software works. I also did not used the included antenna nor QAM / analog tuner.

I think the price could be cheaper if they just offer a white box with just the card and a spare LP bracket.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: FM Tuner works

Cons: TV Tuner keeps losing signal, I have tried several different antennas, tuner keeps losing signal, after reboot works ok then just suddenly loses complete signal, no channels displayed at all
