3 out of 5 eggsgood to fair

Pros: cable screws into the adapther you plug it into a usb slot too easy. works well on desktops and laptops. if you get a usb extension cable a long one you can set it on top of the desktop case with the remote sensor facing outward. . ability to update software. was very hard to find it.

Cons: the catalyst program has bugs the guide stopped working many times on me

Other Thoughts: I use windows media center to watch it now works fine still get the guide too. though it is strange that I can not get 5.1 sound out of either program while watching TV. dvd's are fine

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Absolutely a great piece of hardware. Very easy setup, i had this thing running and recording live tv for me in about 15 minutes. Media Center has no problem recognizing the device whenever it is connected and can even be programmed to record tv shows whenever they come on. Doesn't slow down my laptop at all while running in the background

Cons: Remote is the only downside to this device, just too difficult to position correctly but that is why i just control it through windows media center

Other Thoughts: If you can get one of the cheap external hard drive and set this to record tv to that location you have your very own dvr, able to pause rewind, fast forward and record live tv

4 out of 5 eggspretty nice

Pros: worked right away, all software and hardware. the video connection adapter that's included is convenient. gets tv guide info.

Cons: should have had a wire receiver extension for the remote, kinda hard to position in a good spot. signal quality not awesome, but good enough for me.

Other Thoughts: quick, easy setup

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me!

Pros: Using the included stick antenna, I get better reception than cable. I was shocked. I'm a 60 year old non-tech guy so I'll worry about recording, etc. later.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsJunk! Junk! Junk!

Pros: None

Cons: Worse piece of garbage I have ever purchased.
Nothing works as its supposed to. Catalyst media center
keeps losing connectivity to tuner. Tuner drivers keep needing to be reloaded.

Other Thoughts: DO NOT BUY!

4 out of 5 eggsBlack Friday deal

Pros: The HD 600 is super portable, like having a larger than normal usb drive. Picture quality is pretty good, dosent look amazing but it could be the OTA broadcast I was watching. Awesome to use on the laptop when waiting in the car or at school or office. Antenna has a magnetic mount. I havent had problems with the software but have with ATI HD tuner cards in the past. Not a killer on the tablet battery.

Cons: A better antenna system could have been devised, it is the bulkiest part of the setup. It does have a magnet but feels like a small CB antenna. It should be compact and flexable to go along with the design of the unit itself.

Other Thoughts: You dont need the ATI software to use the unit if you have another way of watching it, like media center.
Systems used on: Toshiba Tecra M4, WinXP TabletPC, 2GB Ram.
WinXP pro, 2Gb ram, AMD Athlon 64 X2, etc.

1 out of 5 eggsGood Luck!

Pros: None due to the Catalyst Media Center software being junk.

Cons: It would be nice to have tech support for the product. Maybe even the product installing easily and properly would be helpful.

Other Thoughts: I've never came across a video game or other software that listed compatibility with a system that I havn't been able to find a patch, manual install, or other fix for...until this one. Search for reviews online at multiple sources before buying. About half the users are happy since it actually installs on there system...half are not because it will only partially install and the TV tuner (the reason we buy it) function in Catalyst Media Center will not open.
System: AMD Athlon 64 3200; 256MB Nvidia 7600GT; 1.5 GB DDR; 16OGB HD; Windows XP Home SP2 with all the latest updates; and everything else it should take to make this junk work!
Note to ATI: Hardware is only as good as the software/drivers that come with it...and yours suck!!!

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice

Pros: This device works very well, I'm very happy. The bundled antenna is basically useless unless you're 5 miles from the source, even with a 10db amplifier. I'm more like 30miles from the source, so I plugged it into my directional roof-top antenna instead (w/ said 10db amp).

The analog tuner works fine. it's a little fuzzy, but it works and is quite viewable. Though that could be from my source, I'm not sure.

However, the HDTV really makes this shine. It found every single HD and digital station in my area at full signal strength. No jaggies, motion blur, or pixilation. Just outstanding, I wanted to lick the monitor.

Another pro, just about any system can use this. I registered about 20-25% CPU usage in analog mode, and 30-35% CPU usage in HD mode. It jumped to 40-50% while recording and watching at the same time.

Cons: ATI's media center is pretty weak in the customization department, and DVD function doesn't seem to work with some titles. But the ATI 650 series is supported by beyond tv 4, another plus.

The remote is IR, not RF. It's acceptable and I guess it makes it cheaper. But the tuner is difficult to position with a line of sight to the viewer. An RF remote would've been nice.

Other Thoughts: System: Athlon XP 2500+, 512mb memory, X800GTO, 80Gb HDD w/winxp pro. All in a Shuttle SK43G -- circa 2002, yikes.

Remember kids, there is no such thing as a "high definition antenna". any olde Telly Vision antenna is just fine...even rabbit ears if you're close enough.
