3 out of 5 eggsNot A Bad Card

Pros: Easy setup and good OTA TV reception, even while using a one pronged broken rabbit ear. Got excellent reception for 21 channels in the Pensacola Fl area.

Cons: I was attracted to this card because of avertised external video capture capabilities. It does not work at all! Called AMD, and the tech said there was Macromedia coding to prevent external video capture. I am not in need of another TV but I have many video tapes to convert, so this is a dud for me. Good TV but do not expect external video capture.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: Works great... I have some old VHS tapes I am converting to DVD and it does the job great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I had a TV Wonder 550 that would not record outside sources to I bought this one and have been very happy with it. I also own a 650 with dual tuner in my HTPC

1 out of 5 eggsPK

Pros: When it works, it works beautifully; however, see the cons below.

Cons: Freezing up my system most of the time and this happens on Vista 32 Ultimate with 4 Gigs of RAM on AMD 2.3 GHz Quad, GeForce 8200 integrated HDMI for the video.

Other Thoughts: Newegg is wonderful!!! RMA was easy and Newegg even paid for my return shipping (the least they can do, since I have already spent thousands of $$$ on Newegg so far this year). I think I'm starting to fall in love with Newegg and I probably won't shop anywhere else from now on. My overall rating is 1 egg for this product and 5 eggs for Newegg customer service.

1 out of 5 eggsFreezing most of the time

Pros: Record free HDTV broadcasts (work just like the old VCR but in HD); TV Programming Guide (require internet connection for this to work); the remote control that come with it work well with the ATI Catalyst Media Center.

Cons: Freezing up of most of the time (note: so far, I have tested this card only on Vista Ultimate 32bits on an AMD Quad @2.6 Ghz with 4 Gigs of PC6400). There is no button for launching Windows Media Center. This remote control isn't designed for Windows Media Center. Sure, it will navigate Vista Media Center but there is no way to launch it. Unless Vista Media Center is the top foreground application, this remote control is useless. Of course, it work well with the ATI Catalyst Media Center (no matter what).

Other Thoughts: It doesn't freeze up as much in the ATI Catalyst Media Center. Wish there is a way to re-assign one of the button to launch Vista Media Center. Perhaps, I will try to replace the ATI Catalyst application with a shortcut to Vista Media Center (so that whenever this remote trying to launch the Catalyst, it will launch Vista Media Center instead), just a thought.

4 out of 5 eggsPicture looks very good

Pros: Very easy to install. Worked right away. Very clear picture. Everything worked fine.

Cons: Scanning available channels. For some reason it doesnt recognize all the channels. for example, no espn. i have it plugged into my cable(wall), so i should have all channels, im assuming.

3 out of 5 eggsStop working after 10 mins of viewing

Pros: Affordable, Quick response from remote.

Cons: Viewing with Catalyst Media Center, only work 10 mins, then stop working, restart computer will allow you to see another 10 mins.

Other Thoughts: -I hope my card is decfective, getting another card and hope it works better.

4 out of 5 eggsMy opinion

Pros: I have been using this card for over a year as my main way of watching and recording TV. This tuner card provides fair (not exceptional) quality and is relatively easy to install

Cons: Really this tuner card lacks a huge amount of simple things
1. only 99 channels (to the best I can see)
2. I cannot find a download for Catalyst Media Center, which is strange considering I can find a driver for the tuner, but the not the software to use it (I use the CD to get the CMC)
3. Cannot pause recording, meaning I record the commercials as well
4. Cannot set the video record quality, every 1h takes about 300mb, not bad, but still the option would have been nice.
5. Cannot set volume different from the rest of the system. Sometimes I want to record something and play a game, but unfortunately I cannot mute the CMC and get volume on my game at the same time.

Other Thoughts: It works and it is reliable, it just not very convenient, but then again I have not ardenly search for any real software mods or options for the program, more than likely these issues can be resolved.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Frustrating

Pros: Couldn't run the card, so I have nothing to say here.

Cons: This card it total garbage. The software doesn't install properly, and the card never worked. I tried a bunch of different media centers, all of which saw the card, but nothing would play. I tried to get this thing working for 4 hours. Different drivers, different card slots, no dice.

Other Thoughts: I would strongly advise you not to buy this card. If you do, you may remember these words. But some people must have gotten it to work.. seems to be a really buggy package to me.

2 out of 5 eggsHorrible

Pros: Works Somewhat.

Cons: Doesnt work with Windows Media Center, you must use the Catalyst Media Center which sucks. The Catalyst Media Center crashes offen and looks sloppy. The remote is also designed poorly and the buttons feel out of place and uncomfortable to reach. All drivers were up to date from the AMD site until I requested a RMA and bought the Hauppague HD Dual Tuner

Other Thoughts: Current Setup, Intel Quad @ 2.4 Q6600, 4gb pc6400, 250gb, Sapphire 2600xt 512 video
