5 out of 5 eggsWorked for HD6770

Pros: Works as an "active" display Port adapter even though it does not require separate power. Happy, as others did not work.

Cons: Not a con but be careful about matching these to your video card technology, they are notoriously fickle. My card was an AMD HD6770 distributed by HIS.

Other Thoughts: Finally let me use three monitors.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Quality, No Issues

Pros: Not too much to say, It gets the job done.
I used one of these with a 7970 for an eyefinity set up (2 x DVI and 1 x Display Adpater for my 3 monitors in 5760 x 1080 resolution for over a year.

Recently purchased a Titan X and I needed to get another adapter, so I came back and bought a second one. Both still working flawlessly with no issues.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Specs:
Asus Sabertooth Z97 MARK1
Intel i7 4790K 4.4GHz
16gb G.Skill Sniper
Samsung 840 Pro Series SSD
3 x ASUS VS Series 23" Monitors - 5760 x 1080

1 out of 5 eggsNot working for R9 290

Pros: It plugs into a displayport and DVI-D

Cons: - Does not work
- The computer detects the monitor that is connected to the adapter, but the display never receives an image.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this to enable a 4th monitor on my Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X video card.

I tested this on a Windows PC and a Mac Pro. It did not work on either of the computers. The system would detect the additional monitor, but would not output anything to the display.

I tested various monitor configurations to see if that had any impact. It did not.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: n/a

Cons: Doesn't work whatsoever; It didn't work the first time so I decided to unplug and plug it back in, when I unplugged it, it had sparked.

Other Thoughts: I have a progressive connector that works fine with 1-2 monitors but I was purchasing this active adapter for eyefinity.

3 out of 5 eggsOnly purchase if you have an AMD card!!!

Pros: Apparently works wonders with AMD cards.

Cons: This adapter did not work with my GTX 750ti. It produced a "black bar" on the left side of my screen and it appeared to alter the resolution of that monitor even though in Windows the monitor was set to 1920x1080.

Other Thoughts: I called tech support and was told that they do not test their products on nVidia products! THEY ONLY TEST ON AMD! So if I were you, I would stay away from VisionTek unless you have AMD products to go with it.

As a side note, finding out which adapter I needed(passive or active) was an extreme headache. I run 3 monitors and I do not have any interest in 3D Surround or Eyefinity, I just simply want three monitors for more workspace. I ended up buying a passive DVI to DisplayPort cable after this one and it works just fine.

tl;dr You only need an ACTIVE adapter for (a) 3D Surround/Eyefinity or (b) you're running higher resolutions than 1920x1200 (this one is what I believe, not something I've tested).

Minus one star for not working with nVidia products, and minus another for not explicitly stating that these adapters should only be used on AMD technology. It would be nice if they said that you should only purchase this item if you own AMD stuff.

5 out of 5 eggsworks with no problems

Pros: Product was not DOA and worked like a charm on the first shot. have not had any troubles or weird screen anomalies. Had free 7 day shipping but got to my house inside four days from ordering, not bad.

Cons: wish they were a bit cheaper but what can ya do...

Other Thoughts: got it cheaper here than my local comp stores but had to wait a bit for eyefinity. completely worth the wait.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed, RMA'd, failed again.

Pros: I managed to get three monitors to work once on my Raedon HD 5800.

Cons: After rebooting it stopped working completely. I RMA'd and the replacement did not work once. Waste of time and money.

Other Thoughts: Still looking for an active DP adapter that just friggin works. Sadly I've been disappointed with several types that I've tried. I'm thinking of avoiding ATI for now because of how horrible the quality control of the DP adapter market is.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great quality, does what it says. Zero issues with standard 60 hz monitors. Great price as well.

Cons: Cant get it to work at 120hz. I assume that most dont support it. Wish the details were a bit more clearer in that aspect.
