Elgato's Turbo.264 HD encoder takes video that you and your friends shot, iMovie projects, and material you recorded with EyeTV, and converts them, individually or in batches, to high-quality MP4 files, for use on your iPod, Apple TV, or Sony PSP, with a specialized resolution profile for each. When the files are converted, the Turbo.264 HD drops them into iTunes, ready for the next time you sync your iPod or Apple TV.
Turbo.264 HD is a hardware encoder, so it speeds up the encoding process and frees your computer's processor for other tasks while video encoding is in progress. Turbo.264 HD comes with its own video converter software, and also supports the export functions of applications such as iMovie, QuickTime Pro, Final Cut Pro and EyeTV. All this power is packed into one tiny USB 2.0 stick, so it's ready to go wherever you go!
Cons: Only works for the Mac. I would have given it a 1 but it isn't the products fault it isn't labeled correctly on newegg.
Other Thoughts: The software works for Mac only. Despite the hardware being capable of supporting other OS's.

The BEST for MAC
Pros: This is way better than MATROX's COMPRESS HD - simply stated, the best value for H.264 acceleration. Works perfectly with QuickTime Pro and the small compression app is easy to use and modify presets.
Cons: I would love to see better Apple Compressor implementation. Right now, you cannot also do multipass encodes - its all single pass - which mostly accounts for the speed.
Other Thoughts: Get it for Apple FCP suite and you won't be sorry. I even use the youtube function with good results.

Awful ... Audio Out of Sync
Pros: Cuts processing time in half.
Cons: Audio in generated files is horribly out of sync.
Other Thoughts: Product is completely useless because every avi file that I try to convert for the AppleTV has significant out of sync audio problems. After researching this issue further, I have come to discover that MANY other users are having the same problem. Apparently, Elgato is trying to fix the problem but have not been able to do so yet.
