1 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 Compatibility and Drivers "Iffy" - Zero Support

Pros: None - Did not work at all in my case

Cons: First of all, the system would not boot when this was attached. A BIOS flash fixed that - no problem.
I could not get this to work with Windows 7. "HIS" has basically zero support, but it turns out this is just a cloned version of a product by DisplayLink and DisplayLink has an excellent support website. The driver download link on the "HIS" site actually just forwards you to DisplayLink - kind of lame... DisplayLink even has a statement on their website on how they will not support clones of their products so this must be a big problem. Anyway, the Displaylink driver loads in Windows 7, but after reboot, you get a message stating "this video device is not compatible with your hardware and it has been disabled". I tried many different things to get it to work, but without luck. It would never enable the display at all.

Other Thoughts: My hardware is a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz so it is possible that it just needed a faster processor for this to work under Windows 7. I'm not 100% sure.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Works Great 1680 X 1050 on a Dell E228WFP 22", On an old Intel Mac mini. Just installed the Displaylink for OSX 1.1 off the included disk and it worked like a charm. A junky old 1.66 Mini Running a 24" and a 22" at the Same time is pretty cool.

Cons: I wouldnt use this for anything but relatively static windows, its not gonna play games or video, but that should be obvious. Even dragging windows around is choppy. but for documents, terminals, buddy lists it works great.

Other Thoughts: The performance is partly due to using a mac mini with Craptastical intel graphics. However I was using the IOGEAR, and this one is much better

4 out of 5 eggsScatched the Itch - UPDATE

Pros: Still working great for the most part. Still recommend it.
- Hot Pluggable - all windows come back to primary display after unplugging

Cons: Some glitches and hick-ups after Mac comes out of Sleep mode
- Bluetooth Mighty Mouse refuses to work unless you reseat the USB HIS MV adapter
- 1 out of 10 times the HIS USB MV will claim primary monitor status after MacBook Pro is used w/o external monitors

Other Thoughts: Still worth every penny.

5 out of 5 eggsScatched the Itch

Pros: - EASY! A child could hook this up to their machine.
- Driver CD has current driver (a plus since HIS' website is not great)
- Running at 1600x1200 on my 20" Dell LCD and it works great for Remote Desktop sessions for my job in Network Administration.
- MAC SUPPORT - runs perfect on a current gen Mac Book Pro as a 2nd LCD

Cons: More Resolution, not really a CON since no one makes a USB adapter that can top 1600x1200 on the Mac.
