2 out of 5 eggsFar below expectations.

Pros: Functions as advertised. Nice product design.

Cons: Very poor video quality. Audio was great, but only works in Pinnacle software. The software is very barebones, though it's only intended to be used as a DVD maker.

Other Thoughts: I bought this with the intention of capturing videos of video game consoles and posting them on Youtube. This won't be possible with this device as the video quality is extremely lacking and you can get better quality than this by simply pointing a video camera at a TV screen. I also intended to use this as a way to play my console games on my computer screen, but none of the software had the ability to show the video in full screen, at least not with full audio. Even when I could get full screen to work, the video quality was beyond horrid and resulted in a less than satisfactory experience. I'll be returning this, it was disappointing to say the least.

1 out of 5 eggssave your money.

Pros: Easy to unbox

Cons: Lets get started
1.Drivers did not work
2.Horible quality/ Choppy Video (green bar down at the bottom of your screen)
3. Audio records off by about 15 seconds
4.The software it comes with is buggy, hard to use, and just down right bad.
5.Customer support was no help trying to get this thing work

Seriously people, Save your money for a higher quality card. THIS IS NOT THE CAPTURE YOUR LOOKING FOR! I couldn't get this thing to work but when I did I was even more disappointed. I could made a better capture card out of the box it came in.

Other Thoughts: Don't buy

4 out of 5 eggsWindows 7 64bit

Pros: I purchased a slightly older version of this product from another retailer some time ago. I used it for the first time today. Rather than using the included software I checked online for 64bit support, which Pinnacle does actually have.

I downloaded "Instant DVD Recorder 2.6.1 UPDATER" which also works as a full install. To download you have to register with the serial that comes with your software CD.

I used it just now for a half hour recording using Virtualdub as the capture software. It worked perfectly on my 64bit Windows 7 system. There were no dropped frames, and audio and video were perfectly synced.

My intended use was for capturing to the hard drive, not direct to DVD, so I can't give any input on that.

Cons: Four stars only because there are higher quality devices out there, but this does work as advertised on modern PCs with updated drivers.

Other Thoughts: Note: The downloaded software, when executed does not install anything just unpacks two directories: "Drivers" and "InstantDVDRecorder". After which Win7 will tell you the install did not go correctly, ignore that and close it. Enter the "InstantDVDRecorder" directory and execute "Setup.exe". If you do not run it as administrator you will get two prompts to verify the install.

When install is complete, you can connect the device to your PC and plug in the video with audio going to your line-in. At this point it behaves as any capture device so you can use any software you choose to capture with it.

2 out of 5 eggsThere are better capture cards

Pros: The video capture is pretty nice and it's easy to set up. It works well if you use it with the pinnacle studio software.

Cons: This device can be used as a capture card to stream console video games to live streaming sites but it's a real hassle to do so. The audio capture only works within the pinnacle studio software as far as I can tell so you'll have to buy a separate composite to 3.5mm cable to get the audio working on a stream. You also have extremely limited control of the frame rate. Dazzle is locked at 30 frames per second but there are options you can change to lower that slightly. This is a pretty major issue. 30 frames per second consumes a ton of CPU power that is not needed. If you have a newer PC this is less of an issue but if you're only running a dual core it's gonna be very hard on your CPU.

Other Thoughts: If you're not going to use this as a capture card to stream video games to live streaming websites and you are only going to use the pinnacle studio software then this is probably an OK buy. If you want to use a separate software to capture audio and video then you will definitely want to look at other options because this just won't work very well.

Pros: When I could see the video, it looked decent.

Cons: But getting it to work with Windows 7 64bit, or at the very least getting it to work with its own software. There were driver errors every time I tried to install the device. At the very most, I could get video captured with a third-party capture software.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this item because I already have pinnacle studio and thought that, being from the same company, should work seamlessly with the already installed software. I was wrong. My suggestion, buy the KWorld DVD maker. It has higher reviews and is even cheaper than this device.

Pros: Priced ok. Good video quality.

Cons: Audio output issues. Avid claims this is to be used only with Studio 12 or 14 and will not work with any other programs. Interesting - the maximum audio level I got with this in Studio 14 was about 30% of the level I got with Movie Box.

Other Thoughts: My application of this includes both recording and streaming, after over 4 hours on the phone to resolve this; it's going back....

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY

Pros: Easy to install the Hardware

Cons: The Software install disc is GARBAGE. I get nothing but Code-1722 Errors trying to install the Pinnacle Studio 12 Program that comes with it and so far. Their technical support is absolutely THE WORST I have ever dealt with, and even their automated phone service is impossible with recorded audio that simply cannot be heard.

Other Thoughts: Do not buy this. Buy a Hauppage, or an AverMedia card. The hassle to get this working is simply not worth it.

Pros: Everything! This device turned my dying Tae-bo tape into a DVD without any hassle. I recommend it to anyone that has a VHS tape that's protected. The software included made it all a breeze. I was a little skeptical in purchasing this item, because it had no reviews; but I'm glad I did.

Cons: None that I can think of.
